I found the tour for Entire Place: unique Bali experience just for you. painfully tedious. The presentation tries far too hard to impress, and for me it falls completely flat. More spectacle than useful browsing; absolutely not my idea of a helpful preview.

Nice place to be! Maxine answered very quick on our message. We feel a good welcome. Room and bathroom clean and luxury. The breakfast was a very good starter of the day. We had a good home in a wonderfull area (Lovina) of Bali. The owners gave us good services. There was a motorbike for rent And helmets.

Very nice house in a beautiful garden. It's a 5 min. carride to the center. We enjoyed the dolphincruise and the cookingclass. The owners are also staying in the house, but give you plenty of space

Great location in North, special place with great hospitality!

Maxine and Yanto's place is absolutely beautiful! I should mention though it was quite a bit smaller than it looked in the pictures, which resulted in it not being as private as we would have liked. Maxine and Yanto did their best to give us privacy which was very nice of them, but since our room was right beneath theirs we felt we were a bit loud when we played music in our room. Other than that we had a fantastic time at this stunning property. Maxine and Yanto are very nice, helpful and down to earth, and they take very good care of their place. The pool area is so chillin we never wanted to leave it! They helped us book dolphin watching which was an experience of a life time! Just 5 mins from the home we took a boat out with our tour guide and saw hundreds of dolphins and even got to swim with them in their natural habitat! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We rented a bike from Maxine and Yanto and drove about 4mins to the main road where there are a good amount of restaurants and shops. You can also eat some of Maxine and Yanto's delicious cooking right at their place which was very convenient. Quite pricey though even for local dishes, however they were accommodating to our budget and gave us a fair price which we were very grateful for. Maxine and Yanto are very easy to talk to and are always willing to have a chat which made us feel welcomed.

Maxine and Suyanto were fantastic Hosts. They showed us around the amazing House and Garden, took us to the Singaraja market and visited some of the nice places to see near Lovina with us. The cooking lesson with Suyanto was really cool and the Taste of the Food was delicious. The breakfast was also very tasty. The House itself including the garden were just beautiful and spread a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We hebben heerlijke dagen gehad op KubuKusuma! echt genoten van het huis en het zwembad.Mooie ruime kamers,heerlijk om te relaxen! Er was savonds en sochtends wel vaak veel herrie van een moskee,hanengevechten om de hoek en doordat er allerlei ceremonies werden gehouden...maar misschien hadden wij net pech?Ondanks dat een geweldig verblijf. Lovina is erg leuk,zeker de dolfijnen en het snorkelen. Helaas konden we Maxine niet ontmoeten maar veel dank aan Yanto voor de fijne dagen!

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour dans cette maison! Suyanto à était un très bon hôte et a toujours été là pour nous et répondre à nos questions. L'endroit est vraiment magnifique et très bien entretenu, je ne peux que conseiller cet endroit. Si vous avez la bonne idée d'y aller, ne passez pas à côté d'un cours de cuisine proposé par Suyanto. Superbe maison avec piscine, des chambres très grandes et très propre. Un salon extérieur en terrasse superbe, en résumé, un lieu où il fait bon vivre.. Yanto et Maxine sont vraiment très sympa et accueillant. Ils vous conseillent des sorties à faire sur Lovina, ils sont aux petits soins. Le petit déjeuner est très bon et copieux. Et si vous voulez, Yanto peut vous faire à manger et c est très bon. Nous avons juste trouvé le prix des locations de scooters très chère par rapport aux locations que nous avons fait partout dans Bali et évitez de demander un taxi, nous avons payé 400 000 rp pour 1 heure de trajet quand pour le même prix vous faites en général 3h de route. Cela reste une très bonne adresse.

Maxine and Yanto's house is amazing - beautiful home with spectacular garden. It is hard to believe that it can be even better soon - when the infinity pool will be ready. Breakfasts were really delicious (thank you Maxine for beverage and yummy fruit salads and thank you Yanto for amazing Indonesian meals)! We spend great time talking with Maxine and Yanto :) Place is a little more expensive than we used to have in Indonesia, but you we felt like we were at home. One thing we regret most is that we chose Lovina as the last stop our 3 weeks trip - we were a little bit tired with sightseeing so we made only night climbing to Kawah Ijen and rest time we spend in Lovina (beach, walking etc.) Maxine and Yanto - thank you again for everything :) and hope to meet you again. Maybe one day you will visit us in our country!

Maxine and Yanto have a wonderful house in Lovina. The rooms are very spacious and clean, the bathroom is amazing. The lounge upstairs very relaxing and the garden is beautiful, it will be even more perfect when the pool is ready by the end of October! Maxine and Yanto are very good hosts. They only rent 1 room at the time to give their full attention to their guests. Maxine and Yanto took us to the Ailin Ailin waterfalls which was amazing. After, we went to the local market to buy our food for that night. This was great. Together, we cooked a delicious meal. And had dinner on their lounge terrace together. In the early morning Yanto dropped us at the beach to see the dolphins. Lucky enough, we saw many! Back home Maxine made us very good breakfast. We only stayed here 1 night, which was OK for us. It was quite intensive to be together with the hosts a lot of time, and have a lot of personal contact as we were not used to this. The prices we paid for the activities and the room are more expensive comparing to other places on Bali. We enjoyed our stay, and I would recommend this place to everyone!

Where do I begin?! Maxine and Suyanto have mastered the art of hospitality and could teach classes on it! Their genuine warmth and care for their guests is evident from the moment they greeted me. Their property is a beautiful haven. This is my fourth trip to beautiful Bali and I would highly recommend staying with them if you plan to visit Lovina. In closing, I feel as if I have made new friends and hope to stay in touch with them. Heartfelt thanks Maxine and Suyanto for making my stay such a delightful one!

Wir können uns nur nochmals für diese großartige Erfahrung bei Maxine und Yanto bedanken. Wir haben uns sofort willkommen und daheim gefühlt. Hierbei sollte vorab erwähnt werden, dies war unsere erste Erfahrung in einem Gästehaus und wir waren etwas skeptisch ... diese Skepsis wurde uns bereits in den ersten Minuten genommen. Maxine und Suyanto sind unglaublich tolle Gastgeber, sie lassen dir deinen Freiraum, sind aber auch offen für gemeinsame Zeit. Sie richten sich absolut nach den Wünschen der Gäste. Ob bei Ausflügen, oder gar extra Wünschen beim Dinner sie waren stets für alles offen und haben uns eine wunderschöne Erinnerung geschaffen 💜💙 Vielen lieben Dank 💙💜

Maxine is een ontzettend lieve en gastvrije host! We werden warm ontvangen met een huisgemaakte ijsthee en een gezellig kennismakingsgesprek aan de tafel voor het huis. Daarna kregen we een rondleiding door het prachtige huis en de tuin met zwembad. Maxine gaf ons meteen leuke tips voor restaurants en gezellige barretjes. Beide ochtenden genoten we van een vers en gevarieerd ontbijt. Ondanks ons korte verblijf van slechts twee nachten heeft Maxine veel voor ons geregeld. Zo organiseerde ze een privéboottocht met een bevriende schipper, waarbij we met dolfijnen hebben gezwommen en hebben gesnorkeld bij het koraalrif. Ook onze transfer naar het volgende adres regelde ze voor ons. We hadden hier graag nog langer gebleven! Heel erg bedankt voor alles, Maxine. Wie weet tot de volgende keer!

Wir hatten mit unseren Kindern (4 & 7 jährig) einen tollen und unvergesslichen Aufenthalt bei Maxine & Yanto. Sie waren äusserst hilfsbereit, kinder- und gastfreundlich. Wir und die Kinder haben uns zu jeder Zeit sehr wohl und wie Zuhause gefüllt. Zudem haben sich Maxine & Yanto mit dem geräumigen Haus und dem Garten inkl. Pool eine wunderschöne Oase geschaffen, die man in Ruhe geniessen kann. Sie gaben uns wertvolle Tipps und Informationen um das Beste aus unserer Zeit in Lovina zu machen. Wir als Familie werden uns immer gerne daran erinnern. Vielen Dank dafür!

Wir haben eine außergewöhnlich schöne Zeit im Kubu Kusuma Guest House und der Umgebung von Buleleng verbracht. Der Empfang durch Maxine und Suyanto war unglaublich herzlich und persönlich. Das Haus ist mit so vielen kreativen Ideen und Herz eingerichtet, und das weitläufige Grundstück bietet wunderbare Rückzugsorte. Ein riesiges Highlight war die umfassende Unterstützung bei der Planung unserer Aktivitäten und Ausflüge – für Kurzstrecken durften wir sogar einen persönlichen Fahrservice nutzen! Jeden Morgen wurden wir mit einer umfangreichen Auswahl an frisch zubereitetem Frühstück verwöhnt. An einem Abend kamen wir zudem in den Genuss von Suyantos fantastischem javanischen Hühnercurry. Auch die uneingeschränkte Mitbenutzung der Küche und des Kühlschrankes war für uns sehr wertvoll. Die Kommunikation war zu jedem Zeitpunkt absolut zuverlässig. Wir danken Maxine und Suyanto von Herzen für diese großartige Gastfreundschaft. Wir werden sehr gerne wiederkommen!

beautiful surroundings. hosts were so kind and very helpful. took us to the beach for a local fish meal. we would not have done it without them. beautiful breakfasts and you can opt for a dinner at extra charge. Great chef, dinner was lovely. it's not really walkable to resturants etc but they will gladly drop you off.

Maxine & Suyanto hebben een kleine paradijs op aarde gecreëerd, waar het heerlijk verblijven is. Je komt echt tot rust, zwemmend in het zwembad en relaxen tussen de enorme palmbomen en prachtige planten. Buiten de accomodatie wandel je naar de hoofdstraat en krijg je een realistisch beeld van het werkelijke leven. De bewoners zijn aardig en groeten je vriendelijk. Maxime & Suyanto ontzorgen je, door excusies te regelen, die goedkoper zijn, dan via het internet. Zwemmen met dolfijnen en daarna snorkelen, was het hoogtepunt van ons verblijf. Geweldig gewoon in 1 woord. Wel vooraf goed insmeren, want wij waren behoorlijk verbrand op onze rug en achterkant armen. In het verblijf zelf, hadden wij een priveruimte met een koelkast vol met heerlijke koele drankjes en biertjes. M & S zijn bijzonder gastvrije mensen. Zelden zo gastvrij meegemaakt. Zij zorgen ervoor dat jij je snel op de gemak voelt. Ze zijn openminded, optimistisch, ontzorgend en sterk communicatief. Echt lieve mensen.

wat een mooi mooi huis met zeer mooie tuin en zwembad. zeer grote slaapkamers, en grote gezamenlijke douche. gezellige hostes Maxine en Syanto die altijd voor je klaar staan. Boven ook nog een rustruimte met drank en snacks tegen betaling. heerlijke massage gehad van de moeder van Suyanto, in de tuin, zeer aan te bevelen, natuurlijk dolfijnen gespot en tempel bezocht en ga zeker eten in de heerlijke pizzeria Tanda. wij hebben genoten

Nous avons passé un séjour absolument parfait dans ce superbe logement à Bali, en famille à 4 ! L’accueil était hyper convivial, avec une délicieuse boisson de bienvenue. Le logement est incroyablement beau, décoré avec goût, et la piscine est géniale pour se détendre. Nos hôtes sont d’une gentillesse et d’une chaleur rares, toujours disponibles, pleins de bonne humeur, et avec qui nous avons beaucoup rigolé. Ils proposent des massages sur place avec une intervenante extérieure et des dîners préparés par leurs soins, tout simplement délicieux ! C’est le plus beau logement que nous ayons eu durant notre séjour, et nos hôtes sont vraiment parmi les personnes les plus chaleureuses que nous ayons rencontrées. Ils nous ont également aidés à réserver un restaurant trop mignon, ce qui a rendu notre expérience encore plus spéciale. Nous recommandons ce lieu les yeux fermés et espérons y retourner un jour ☀️

It was really our home at North Bali. Sharing our stay with the hosts has been a great experience. Lots of local information and recommendations from Maxine and Yanto. From the welcome message on a leaf to the freedom to use their own kitchen, with the privacy level that we wanted. I fully recommend staying at Kubu Kusuma. And belly rubs for Balang, the cute dog guarding us all from cats, pigs and chickens 😂😍

Maxine & Suyanto haben eine tolle Unterlunft in Lovina. Beide sind äußerst nett und stets hilfsbereit, geben aber auch genug Privatspähre. Wir haben uns siper aifgehoben und wohl gefühlt. Die Villa mit Garten und Pool ist ein kleines Paradies! Wir empfehlen jedem einen Zwischenstopp bei Maxine & Suyanto einzulegen.

Maxine & Yanto sind zwei äusserst herzliche Menschen, man fühlt sich gleich wie zuhause. Das Frühstück welches sie für uns zubereitet haben war sehr lecker! Sie geben dir gerne Empfehlungen was man in der Umgebung tun bzw. Essen kann! Yanto redet ein wenig Deutsch was ebenfalls zu einer lockeren Stimmung beigetragen hat ;) wir empfehlen allen, macht einen Stop bei Maxine& yunto und geniesst dir ruhige/private Umgebung

Heerlijke, ontspannen plek met geweldige hosts. Ons verblijf bij Kubu Kusuma Guest House van Yanto & Maxine was echt fantastisch. De sfeer is warm en ontspannen, met een prachtig zwembad en een heerlijke tuin. Elke ochtend genoten we van een heerlijk, vers ontbijt – een perfect begin van de dag. Yanto & Maxine zijn ongelooflijk lieve en gastvrije mensen die je je meteen thuis laten voelen. Ze denken mee, geven fijne tips en niets is te veel gevraagd. Extra fijn: je kunt ook een massage aan huis boeken – super ontspannend bij het geluid van de natuur op de achtergrond. Een pareltje in Noord Bali, waar je echt tot rust komt. We komen graag nog eens terug 🩷

La nostra estada a casa de la Maxine i en Suyanto ha estat excepcional. Ens han acollit amb tanta cura i generositat que ens hem sentit com a casa, com si forméssim part de la família. Han atès totes les nostres necessitats, sovint fins i tot anticipant-se al que podríem necessitar. Ens han recomanat activitats molt interessants i pensades especialment per a nosaltres. Un dels moments més especials va ser el dia que vam anar junts al mercat i després vam cuinar amb en Suyanto, que és un cuiner extraordinari. La casa i el jardí són preciosos, cuidats amb amor, i la piscina és un petit paradís per relaxar-se. Sens dubte, hi tornarem. Recomanem aquesta estada molt especialment: ha estat una experiència inoblidable.

Die beiden waren sehr herzlich und immer zur Stelle wenn man fragen hatte Sie hatten für uns einen Ausflug zum Delfinschwimmen organisiert, welcher reibungslos und ohne Probleme abgelaufen ist. Sehr empfehlenswert! Außerdem hatten sie einen sehr lieben Hund :)🐕

Wir haben uns super wohl dort gefühlt. Die beiden sind tolle Gastgeber und haben uns viele hilfreiche Tipps gegeben und uns geholfen, einiges zu organisieren. Wir haben unsere beiden Abende mit ihnen zusammen verbracht, da wir uns so gut verstanden haben. Es war alles sauber, das Essen wurde selbst frisch gekocht und war unfassbar lecker. Wenn sich die Möglichkeit ergibt würden wir gerne wieder kommen und es jedem empfehlen!!

We can not say enough good things about our stay. The location was an Utopia. Host and hostess went above and beyond to make the stay memorable and help us,with planning the rest of our trip! So happy we chose this stay and hope to return many times again!

Maxime and Suyanto are truely a blessing to come home to. Super mindful and attentive they took care of our needs. Stayed even with our little son for a while when he didn’t feel like going on a boat trip. They are so kind and generous. Truely beautiful souls to meet. The food is fresh and yummy the accomodation made with lots of love. Very clean and you just feel home from moment one. The pool has an outside shower. And for spiritual practitioners you have a little meditation shala. We got always wonderful tips and advices and could get a deeper view into the land and its people. We definitely would come back here. Biggest recommendation.

Maxine and Suyanto made us feel right at home with a home cooked meal on arrival. They have a beautiful property and a spotlessly clean home. The included breakfast was wonderful and fresh and Suyanto helped our children make supper which was a great learning experience and also delicious. Unser Aufenthalt bei Maxine und Suyanto war einfach unvergesslich! Die Villa war ein wahrer Traum und der Garten mit dem Pool ein echtes Paradies. Jeden Morgen wurden wir mit einem leckeren Frühstück verwöhnt, und sie haben uns bei der Buchung von Aktivitäten und Scootern unterstützt. Suyanto holte uns sogar von unserer vorherigen Unterkunft ab und hat am ersten Abend für uns gekocht. Seine Kochkünste sind absolut empfehlenswert. Villa Kubu Kusuma ist einfach großartig! Maxine und Suyanto sind sehr herzliche und hilfsbereite Menschen. Sie helfen dir bei der Organisation von Ausflügen, die sie selbst auch begleiten. Ein Shuttle nach Lovina Beach oder zurück war auch spontan jederzeit möglich. Sie sind immer erreichbar und richten sich ganz nach deinen Wünschen. Die Unterkunft ist sehr geräumig, mit großem Schlafraum (bequemes Bett) und Bad, sowie einer wunderschönen Dachterrasse zum Chillen. Getränke sind jederzeit verfügbar, teilweise gegen kleine Gebühr. Das Frühstück ist sehr lecker und kann optional ergänzt werden. Der große tropische Garten mit Swimmingpool sind absolut super. Hier kann man herrlich entspannen. Wir nutzten dort auch die von Maxine für uns bestellte Massage, sie war ausgezeichnet. Wir empfehlen die Unterkunft unbedingt! Es ist als würde man bei Freunden Urlaub machen!

Je recommande à 100% le logement de Maxine et Suyanto, agréable et confortable. Nous avons été très bien reçu. Attachants et toujours souriants, faisant preuve d'une grande discrétion lors de notre séjours. Ils ont toujours été à notre écoute, et nous ont donné de très bon conseils concernant nos activités, se montrant très réactifs pour organiser nos sorties.

We had a fantastic stay with Maxine and Suyanto, who are superb hosts. From the moment we arrived, Maxine and Suyanto made us feel extremely welcome and throughout our stay helped us to explore some of the many gems of Northern Bali - Aling Aling waterfalls, temples, dolphin cruise, and traditional markets to name just a few. We packed in such a lot in a short space of time and only wish we had longer! The place itself is fantastic, with beautiful gardens and a great pool for cooling off. We loved breakfast each morning out in the garden. Without a doubt however, the highlight of our stay was getting to spend time with Maxine and Suyanto - it was great to talk and learn about Bali and Indonesia, and a cooking lesson with Suyanto is an absolute must. They both worked tirelessly to ensure we had a great stay and we’re incredibly grateful for this. A stay with Maxine and Suyanto is a must! Thank you both so much! X

This was my was third visit to villa Kubu Kusuma. Maxine and Suyanto’s place is one of those rare and truly special experiences. The wall around the garden is high and you have absolute privacy. The villa is huge and spacious- the upstairs outdoor living room is my favorite space to hang out, drink a beer, work on my computer, or take a nap. Wi-Fi is great- I was streaming my favorite shows on my tablet. Maxine and Suyanto are really what makes this place shine above the other places we have stayed in Bali. They take us out to local places, introduce us to the community, and really help us experience the local culture. When I am here, I always get a daily massage from Wayan. Don’t miss out on this- she is amazing. Don’t miss out on sunset at the beach- visit the waterfalls early in the morning and get them all to yourself. Staying with Maxine and Yanto is the best way to experience Lovina.

Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön! Die Zimmer sind blitzsauber, der Garten herrlich. Man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Maxine und ihr Mann waren von Anfang an eine großartige Gastgeberin. Maxine hat sich total lieb um unsere kranke Tochter gekümmert (extra ihre Tochter die Krankenschwester ist, in Australien angerufen, um Ratschläge einzuholen. Da war mir noch gar nicht angekommen!) Sie hat uns tolle Tipps gegeben, was wir in der Gegend unternehmen können, und stand immer mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. So viel Herzlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft haben wir lange nicht erlebt. Ich kann die beiden nur wärmstens weiter empfehlen.

This was our first home stay and absolutely loved it, everything about this stay was perfect, so clean, tidy and relaxing. We enjoyed it being away from the hustle and bustle but still a short walk to Lovina restaurants and the beach. We felt so welcomed by Maxine and Suyanto! Such a homely feel. Maxine and Suyanto were so great with our children 3 and 7, Our boy shared a love of shells and sea glass with Maxine. She even came with us on the dolphin tour so the adults could enjoy swimming with the dolphins and snorkling knowing the kids were happy! We enjoyed there knowledge and every tour and driver they planed! We enjoyed many dinners out with them and Suyanto cooked us a lovely meal on the last night! We loved our stay and can't wait to come back! The kids also loved beleug the dog, cat, fish and the morning gong!

Het is een heerlijk huis met aangrenzende tuin met zwembad. Alles is goed geregeld, je krijgt een heerlijk ontbijt. De hosten zijn superaardig en kunnen vervoer en tours regelen. De kamers waren ruim. We moesten wel even wennen aan fans in plaats van Airconditioning, maar verder was alles top hier.

Maxine en Yanto zijn supervriendelijk in alles! Ze hebben ons meegenomen naar de mooiste plekken, maken heerlijk eten, zijn flexibel en behulpzaam. Hun huis en tuin zijn een paradijs. Het strand is op loopafstand er is veel te doen dichtbij de locatie. Na een dag op stap te zijn was het heerlijk afkoelen in het zwembad. Dit is een prachtige plek die we iedereen kunnen aanraden!

Vielen Dank für den perfekten Start in unseren Baliurlaub. Wir haben uns als Familie sehr willkommen und wohl gefühlt. Maxine und Yanto haben für uns Ausflüge organisiert: z. Bsp. Aling-Aling-Wasserfälle, Delfin- und Schnorcheltour... Wir mussten uns um nichts kümmern, es war sehr entspannt und perfekt. Wir waren auch zusammen zum atemberaubenden Sonnenuntergang im Strandrestaurant und haben sogar noch um 12:30 Uhr Frühstück bekommen, als wir verschlafen haben, nachdem wir nachts um 2 Uhr ein EM-Spiel gesehen haben ;-) Das Haus und der Pool sind auch sehr schön und das Frühstück und das gebuchte Abendessen waren sehr lecker, vielen lieben Dank für alles! :-)

I finally found my own paradise. I brought my 7-years-old boy fyi. I went to Lovina to see dolphins, but the dolphins were not on my mind when I stayed at this place. My son and I truly love the hosts and hope to see them again. I already miss the beautiful garden and swimming pool, Chakra and Blanc (their cat and dog). My son liked this place better than the 5 stars resort we went to in Bali. And everyone can feel the reason in first impression. I hope everyone who lives in the city can spend a soul-healing vacation in a place like this. It was an experience that cannot be put into price, with a perfect host and a house that was beyond perfection.

En famille, nous sommes restés 6 jours chez Maxine & Suyanto, c'était parfait. Cours de cuisine puis repas partagé. Piscine en bord de la jungle, seul au monde. Massage dans le jardin. Petit dejeuner un régal. Maxine & Suyanto sont chaleureux, prevenants sans jamais être invasifs. De bons conseils pour les activités ou les restaurants. Maison sur les hauteurs de Lovina mais à seuleument 15 minutes à pieds du centre. Encore merci !!!!!

My partner and I had an incredible time here. It was my partners birthday and I asked if they could arrange a dinner. They went above and beyond for the dinner and surprised us with a happy birthday sign, drinks and a cake. The place itself is a little paradise, very clean, private and very walkable to the beach. Overall I would recommend this place to everyone!

Their place was just amazing! We wish could have stayed longer. The house and the pool are great and you can relax with lots of privacy. Maxine and Suyanto are super friendly and they helped us with everything (laundry, restaurants,…). Thank you!

The villa and the garden with the plants + pool are like paradise! Thanks to the warm welcome we felt incredibly comfortable from the first second. Everything is lovingly decorated and very neat & clean. A highlight were the animals (chickens, cat, dog 🥰). The location is also great, you can walk to the city and still live very quiet. There is a folder with different options for breakfast (very tasty!) and excursions / activities Maxine & Yanto can organize for you. If you have other wishes or questions: Just ask them :) They put a lot of effort to make your stay memorable for you. We can recommend trips to - Banjar Hot Springs + Brahmavihara Temple - Munduk (waterfalls, Twin Lakes) - Climbing Batur Volcano The booked massage was also great. You must also try Suyanto's food (or better yet, book a cooking class with him). The food is fantastic. Also take a look at the handmade jewelry. It is stunning. Nous avons passez un excellent séjour chez Maxine et Suyanto. Leur maison est un havre de paix, typiquement balinaise au milieu d un superb jardin agrémentée d une magnifique piscine. les nombreux animaux feront la joie des plus petits comme des plus grands. Die Unterkunft ist traumhaft schön. Der Garten ist wundervoll, noch schöner als auf den Bildern. Ich hatte mich gleich in die Zwerghühner und in den so lieben Hund verliebt. Maxine und Suyanto sehr freundlich und helfen bei allen Fragen die man hat. Das Frühstück ist fantastisch. Mit dem Motorroller haben wir die ganze Umgebung erkundet. Die Wasserfälle und der Dschungel sind wunderschön . Ich kann diese Unterkunft mehr als zu 100% empfehlen, es ist wirklich traumhaft.

Suyanto est très santai (clin d’œil à eux), il est très souriant et pleins de bonnes énergies! Ah et oui! Goûter à la cuisine de suyanto c’est incroyable!

Excellent séjour de 5 nuits dans la très belle villa de Maxime et Suyanto. Ce sont des hôtes adorables , très joyeux , toujours disponibles et de bons conseils pour les excursions. Les petits déjeuner étaient copieux et délicieux. On a mangé 2 soirs avec les hôtes. Suyanto cuisine vraiment très bien, ses plats balinais étaient excellents . Je vous recommande cette maison d’hôte sans hésiter.

Der Aufenthalt bei Maxine & Suyanto war traumhaft. Sie waren unglaublich hilfsbereit, jederzeit greifbar. Schon nach wenigen Stunden haben wir uns wie ein Teil der Familie gefühlt. Das Frühstück war super. Am ersten Abend wurden wir mit einem großen selbstgekochten indonesischen und sehr, sehr leckerem Essen erwartet, welches wir gemeinsam gegessen haben. Dabei haben wir auch viel über ihre Geschichte erfahren und uns näher kennen gelernt. Der Garten war traumhaft schön, es war ruhig und man war ungestört. Ein perfekter Ort zum Entspannen. Auch nach unserem Aufenthalt blieb der Kontakt bestehen und wir haben weitere liebevolle Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt in Lovina bekommen. Sie kümmerten sich liebevoll um die Organisation von einer Delphintour und dem Besuch von Aling Aling Waterfalls. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und wünschen den Beiden nur das Beste.

Our 4 night stay at Kubu Kusumba has been the highlight of our 4 week trip to Bali and Lombok. Maxine is a great host and is always on hand to offer help and advice about Lovina. With her guidance we had some lovely food in 3 warungs. By far the best was Warung Jepun. We ate here twice and the fish was great. Maxine was always happy to drive us into Lovina for dinner or to accompany her on a sea glass hunting expeditions. She is very enthusiastic about her hand crafted jewellery which was of great interest to Barbara who bought some earrings and a lava stone necklace. The house and gardens are fantastic and very different to all other places we have stayed in Indonesia. The rooms are extremely spacious with high ceilings. Breakfast on the terrace offered plenty of choice and was a great start to the day. This is a great Airbnb with unusual buildings, nice garden and excellent host. We would recommend this place without hesitation and will return if we every come back to Lovina.

De accommodatie is in het echt nog mooier dan op de foto’s! Binnen is alles ruim en zeer netjes en de tuin buiten is een echt paradijs. Je raakt er gewoon niet uitgekeken op de vele creatieve details… De hond, de kat en de kippetje maken het super charmant. Maxine en Suyanto zijn heel spontane en vriendelijke hosts die je onmiddellijk een warm en huiselijk gevoel geven. Avondeten en ontbijt zijn overheerlijk en zeer schappelijk van prijs. Ze organiseerden een ongelooflijke activiteit met dolfijnen zwemmen en snorkelen en regelden feilloos ons vervoer. We kunnen echt niets negatiefs opmerken en bevelen deze plek aan iedereen ten zeerste aan!

Our stay with Maxine and Suyanto was above and beyond what we expected. It felt more like visiting family than an AirBnB. They were welcoming and helpful right from the beginning and couldn't do enough for us. It truly felt like they wanted us to make the most of our experience in Lovina and did everything they could to make that happen, they were guides, friends and hosts. The home cooked meals were delicious, they helped us to organise everything we wanted to do and more, gave advice on the best times to visit tourist spots, suggested great local restaurants who treated us even better knowing we stayed with Maxine and Suyanto! The villa itself was beautiful, well-kept, peaceful and comfortable with delicious breakfast and juice every morning. We will miss the banana juice so much! They have drinks and snacks available on the terrace which was really handy, plus beautiful Bali sea glass jewellery if you're interested. They helped us with our onward journeys and gave all around helpful advice for all of Bali. Can't recommend Kubu Kusuma enough! Wir verbrachten zwei sehr schöne Tage in Lovina. Die Unterkunft von Maxine ist wunderschön. Sie ist genau, wie auf den Bildern. Die Zimmer sind groß und man teilt sich mir ein großes Bad mit dem zweiten Zimmer (war bei uns leer). Der Pool und die Gartenanlage ist besonders schön. Zum Haus gehört ein toller Hund und eine Katze, die gerne gestreichelt werden. Insgesamt sind die Preise etwas höher, als der Standard, dafür bekommt man aber auch sehr bemühte Gastgeber. Wir haben den Kochkurs besucht. Dieser war etwas mehr ein Live Cooking (man schaut nur zu), aber wir haben sehr gut gegessen! Die Gastgeber haben die Delfintour für uns organisiertund diese war, anders als die Erfahrungsberichte im Internet, sehe entspannt und wir haben viele, glückliche und freie Delfine beobachtet. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!

Wat zijn we warm onthaald door de eigenaars. Het huis ligt in een prachtig aangelegde tuin en we hadden veel privacy in huis en bij het zwembad. De gastheer kan erg goed koken en we hebben heerlijk gegeten met de eigenaars. Ze helpen je bij vragen en ook als je bijvoorbeeld vervoer nodig hebt, bieden zij aan je te brengen. Kortom, we hebben genoten!

Maxine and Suyanto are two of the most incredible people you will meet! They welcome you into their home with the greatest smiles and most genuine care. Their home is lovely and perfect for a short or long stay. The bedroom space is super spacious, comfortable, and private. The pool is beautiful. They have the most incredible recommendations for fishing, snorkeling, food, driver, or anything else you may need! 10/10 recommend staying here for your time in Lovina!

There is no way to describe how wonderful Maxine and Suyanto's place, Kubu Kusuma, is. You will just have to come and experience it. From the moment they picked us up from the airport, we felt welcomed and taken care of. Their place is beautiful - the bedroom, the pool, the porch where you get to have breakfast, the upstairs lounge space - everything speaks of love and hospitality. Here are just a few highlights of our trip: going to the local grilled fish restaurant on our first night and having the freshest meal ever; walking down the road to Lovina Beach in the morning and saying "Selamat Pagi" to the friendly people; lounging at the Spice Beach Club, enjoying their amazing hospitality and delicious food; going dolphin-watching and snorkeling with Captain Jojo; watching Suyanto pick out a fresh tuna from the beach for supper that night and then enjoying the MOST delicious home-cooked Indonesian meal ever (if you stay here you absolutely have to have at least one dinner cooked by Suyanto); going with Maxine to the Holy Hot Springs and the Buddhist temple nearby; lounging in the lovely swimming pool; drinking coffee in the upstairs room while listening to all the local sounds (birds, roosters, temple ceremonies, etc.) I could go on and on but this is the "real" Bali with people who know and love it. As all the other reviews say, I wish we had stayed a few more days! Thanks for everything, Maxine and Suyanto! You are the best!

First of all the space is absolutely incredible. The villa is really grand- huge tall ceilings and beautiful tile and ornate wood accents, etc, etc. Huge tropical walled gardens surround the villa. The gardens are lovingly cared for every day. The pool is private and surrounded by lush foliage, a mix of sun and shade depending on the time of day. Outside shower by the pool is so refreshing- I think I used it at LEAST three times a day. Upstairs in the villa is a covered outdoor room. Here you have cold water and cold beer and snacks, and a bale I loved to take naps on in the heat of the afternoon. The bedrooms for guests are downstairs (there are two, but they only have one group at a time- there won't be other guests present) and Maxine and Yanto live upstairs. I have never encountered such a perfect harmony of privacy and attentiveness. Our time in our room, and our time by the pool as a couple was completely private, and yet Maxine was usually at hand throughout the day to answer any questions and attend to our needs. Maxine and Yanto went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home and do anything they could to make our vacation amazing. They are warm, kind, skilled hosts. We rented their scooter from them (well maintained, registration current) and went to waterfalls and restaurants all over the area- Maxine told us which roads to take so that we could go the safest way. But they also had all sorts of tours available- if you don't feel comfortable exploring on your own you can arrange for them to take you around and show you the sites. The highlight of our trip was the Fishing tour. Yanto took my partner deep sea fishing with a local fisherman. They caught big, beautiful Mahi Mahi. That night, Maxine and Yanto prepared the fish for us in the traditional style on the grill with fresh greens and rice. It really made my partner's trip! other things to note-- wifi was good and reliable. I have a business at home so this was very important to me no a/c in the villa - we were there during the hottest time of the year and we are from a cold climate. The high ceilings and building materials (all the tile, big windows to allow for air flow) kept the villa remarkably cool. We slept comfortably and didn't sweat in the night. It was quite hot in the afternoon. Shady places to lounge and the pool made this a non issue for us. the villa is very close to Lovina beach and all the restaurants and activities there, but it is in a traditional neighborhood. It is surrounded by locals living a traditional indonesian life. There are chickens running around everywhere crowing, especially early in the morning, and occasionally the locals will hold loud ceremonies. This happened while we were there and one evening the chanting and gongs were pretty loud. I loved it- it was authentic. But that might not be your thing. (might be hard to avoid in bali though, I think it's all like that) they have a lovely cat. she is friendly. tl;dr 11/10 would stay again!

At first Maxime is a great Host! She reall y is amazing. She tooks Good Care of us. She even gets up at 1 o'clock for provide us Breakfast before our mount Batur sunrise trekking. She also organized a driver for our roundtrip in Bali which was great. The house exceeded our expectations it is set up so cozy and with love to detail. Also the Garden with the coconut palms and mango trees is so gorgeous. To communicate with Maxime was very easy and fast! I can highly recommend maxime's and yanto's place. If you won't spent some time in their house in lovina you definitly will miss something.

Nous avons passé 5 jours à Lovina Beach chez Maxine et Yanto, et ce fut de loin la meilleure partie de notre séjour, Maxine et Yanto sont des personnes adorables, ils ont été être disponibles, très bienveillants, tout en nous laissant de l’intimité, La villa est splendide, la piscine est parfaite et la chambre charmante, vous pourrez profiter des excellents petits plats de Yanto sur une terrasse et des très copieux petits déjeuners de Maxine devant la maison, le jardin est sublime et très bien entretenu. Leur accueil a été des plus chaleureux, ils nous ont donné plein d’informations et d’indications sur Bali, ils ont eu la gentillesse de nous convier le premier soir pour un coucher de soleil sur la plage où nous avons rencontré des personnes sympathiques de toutes origines, avec qui nous avons beaucoup partagé. Maxine et Yanto nous ont donné plein de très bons tuyaux que ce soit sur Lovina ou ailleurs, des adresses de Warung ou des petits kiosques de street food sur lesquels nous ne nous serions pas forcément tourné de nous même mais qui se sont avérés être excellents ! A aucun moment nous ne nous sommes sentis abandonnés, de notre prise en charge à Ubud à notre départ pour Amed, Maxine est comme une maman poule sans trop en faire, je vous souhaite de partager avec eux autant de choses que nous avons pu partager avec eux, et vos vacances seront parfaites ! Enfin notez que vous pouvez louer un scooter sur place, vous baigner quand vous le souhaitez, dîner sur place (la cuisine de Yanto est bien meilleure que dans tous les restaurants que nous avons pu faire à Bali), prendre des cours de cuisine, mais aussi acheter des bijoux que Maxine confectionne elle même, ou faire des excursions (ils s’occupent de tout) Profitez de Lovina et de ses dauphins, de sa douceur de vivre, de ses couchers de soleil, le tout chez Maxine et Yanto et vos vacances seront parfaites.

Kubu Kusuma is a wonderful place to stay. Maxine and Yanto have set high standards and will do anything to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as can be - all in a relaxed and informal way. "Home is not a place, it's a feeling" and that certainly applies to Kubu Kusuma. ❤

PARADISE AWAITS YOU......,IF YOU ARE VISITING BALI ...you must stay here. I wish I could give it 10 stars. I researched 18 months and looked at 1000s of places to stay in Bali. This place is beyond what words can say. Northern Bali was our favorite part of the island and the most beautiful part of the island. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left Kuba Kusuma guest house was absolutely perfect. Yanto and Maxines home and gardens are outstanding and beautiful. As soon as we entered the gates to their home Maxine greeted us with a cold glass of tea. The table we sat at on the front porch had a welcome Joe and Jean from America sign for us...very welcoming! We felt at home from the minute we arrived. Their home is gorgeous and very spacious. Our bedroom and bathroom were huge. The home was spotless. We had so many places in their home and gardens to enjoy. Every morning we enjoyed our coffee in a different location of their garden and pool. We enjoyed our cooking class with Yanto and we dined with them every night we were there. The food is outstanding and was the best food we had on the island. Yanto owned a restaurant and is quite a chef. Everything is made from fresh ingredients. They took us to the market and shared that experience with us. They booked our dolphin and snorkel excursion and took us to the beach to meet JoJo our guide. I could go on and on about this property and the hosts. I almost forgot to mention that they sell incense, sarongs, handmade jewelry and more...you can shop while you stay. We moved 5 times on the island of Bali and Kuba Kusuma guest house was our favorite place. Our only regret is we only stayed 3 nights and we were busy everyday so we didn’t get to enjoy the gardens as much as we would of liked. We should of spent a week there and hired them as our tour guides. Yanto and Maxine provide everything you need and they are the BEST hosts ever. Book this place!!!! Walking distance to the beach, amazing room with private pool and even a meditation space. Take the cooking class if you can!!!! Walk though the market taste testing and seeing all the fresh catches of the day, and prepare and enjoy the meal with these two amazing hosts. I had the chance to see sunset and meet their friends- truly above and beyond and I felt at home. We had an amazing time with Maxine and Yanto. They were really nice, give you the privacy you need and they were really fun to chill with. If you got any doubts, when you are there you don't want to go somewhere else.

Maxine and Suyanto were the perfect hosts from the moment they picked us up to till the end of a 2hr dropoff in canguu. We did the dolphin tour/snorkeling as well as Aling Aling waterfall and a home cooking class put on by Yanto himself. All these were arranged easily and were better than any description I'm sure you have read. The pool is gorgeous and the beer is cheaper and colder than most local bars. The place is clean, safe and feels like hidden oasis despite being only 1.3km from the beach. If I could give another few stars I definitely would, however all I can do is say money well spent, 10/10 would stay again and glad I got to stay at the best spot in Lovina.

We absolutely loved our stay! My partner and I are a bit shy, but Maxine and Yanto made us feel right at home, cooked us delicious food and gave great tips on things to do and places to eat at in Lovina. This is the kind of service and hospitality that you just wouldn’t get at a hotel. Their property is beautiful, they’ve put a lot of work into the garden and pool especially. We highly recommend doing their Javanese cooking class too, and can’t wait to try making it at home again. Thanks for filling our holiday with wonderful memories!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! You know you’ve had an amazing stay when it’s impossible to decide what was better....the beautiful accommodation or the absolutely wonderful hosts! You will not regret staying with Maxine and Yanto, I’ve stayed in Airbnb’s all over the world and they are by far the best hosts I’ve ever met. The house is breathtaking and there is nothing you could want for. Comfy beds, spacious rooms, a beautiful pool, peaceful gardens, amazing food, great local places to explore....I could go on. We had such a lovely time here. The house is absolutely amazing and peaceful with a beautiful secluded pool in a paradise-like garden. Maxine and Suyanto were so helpful and welcoming. The breakfast is great and activities were very well organised. We climbed Mount Batur and had cooking lessons from Suyanto, after a trip to the local food market. We really felt at home. This place was AMAZING! Staying with Maxine and Suyanto was one of the best parts of our trip to Bali. They went above and beyond to teach us and share their Bali knowledge with us. They encouraged us to try adventurous things that created lifelong memories for us. The details and hospitality along with their beautiful home made this so special. They also arranged for us to try Kawah Ijen in Java which was such an awesome experience. They organized everything including the guide, driving, ferry ride and breakfast. It was a once in a lifetime experience and we’re so glad we did it. Having Maxine and Suyanto take us places and show us where to go, along with get us connected with the guides on the excursions we did made us feel at ease. We really felt worry free during our stay with them and only wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Maxine and Yanto have set the bar high. We had them pick us up from the airport and was greeted with bright smiles and hugs. Truly a garden of Eden, surrounded by a beautiful garden and vivid color. A peaceful and pleasant place to spend some quality time. You can’t go wrong with this place. There was no need for a car as we were driven to our excursions by Maxine and/or Yanto. This place is magical! The beautiful gardens bring a wide variety of wildlife (namely birds and butterflies) to the property. If you enjoy cooking I highly recommend having Yanto teach you how to make one of his dishes. It was a fun experience and I learned so much! The breakfasts were some of the best of my life: delicious, fresh, and with an incredible view of the garden. Great B&B - Awesome hosts - Super clean room and bathroom - Safe area - Wonderful experience and the breakfast and dinners were the best in all of Bali. We were truly blessed to have met them and look forward to visiting them again.

Maxine and Yanto were wonderful hosts and I had a very restful and relaxing stay at their beautiful villa. I loved spending time in the garden by the poolside or up in the veranda. I had a great day out with Maxine visiting the Buddhist temple and hot springs and Yanto taught me to make a delicious chicken curry during one of his cooking classes. Maxine also introduced me to some of her friends one night when we went to the local beach to watch the sunset. I really enjoyed getting to spend time in someone's home while in Bali and I even brought back one of Maxine's handmade prayer bead bracelets as a wonderful reminder of my stay. Wow, this place is absolutely outstanding. Maxine and Yanto’s home is like a little slice of heaven! We would 100% recommend this place to anyone traveling to north Bali. Not only is the location breathtaking, but Maxine and Yanto were amazing hosts. They provided transport to and from their place, coordinated a private dolphin watching tour where we got to get in the water to watch the dolphins, and gave us a great local cooking class. Also, when I realized that I had left my backpack in their car, they were quick to respond and meet back up with us so I could get it back. We were so sad to leave, but can not wait to return in the future!

Our stay at Kubu Kusuma Guest House was many times more wonderful than we could have planned! Maxine and Yanto welcomed us into their home and did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. From the spot-on food recommendations (and several delicious meals prepared in their own home as well!) to the guided trip to the local waterfalls to creating our own chakra bracelets to the dolphin sunrise with Captain Jo-Jo to poolside yoga and more, there was something enjoyable for everyone at any given moment. Our stay in Bali would not have been the same had we not had the great fortune of staying at Kubu Kusuma Guest House.

Although they stayed at the upper floor of the building you never felt their presence when you just wanted time for yourself and they we’re still within reach when you needed them. Maxine und Sayanto sind wunderbare Gastgeber. Das Haus, der Garten mit Pool sind mit ganz viel Liebe und Geschmack hergerichtet. Das Frühstück ist einfach fabelhaft und sehr üppig. Unser Zimmer und das Bad waren sehr geräumig, es ist alles vorhanden, was man für einen relaxten Urlaub benötigt. Wir durften auch die Küche und die Terrasse im Obergeschoss nutzen. Einen Roller gegen eine Gebühr haben wir auch erhalten.

Arriving at the Kubu Kusuma was an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of central Lovina. Maxine and Yanto were perfect hosts. Even though it's a shared home with the owners, there was still alot of privacy and personal space. The food prepared by both of them was amazing and the Dolphins and snorkeling excursion is a must. Highly recommend this airbnb!

We stayed with Maxine and Suyanto at Kubu Kusuma between the 7th and 11th September. I'm really struggling to find faults or suggest improvements as our stay was absolutely superb! The hosts go above and beyond for their guests, we organised transfers, trips and meals through Maxine and Suyanto - everything was seamless and the food was to die for! Please please PLEASE listen to recommendations as these helped us gain a truly authentic experience in Lovina. The house and gardens are spotless and very secluded giving you total privacy and a sense of paradise. You are totally encouraged to treat the house as your own and do as you please making us feel welcomed and relaxed during our stay. Kubu Kusuma is suitable for everyone, however if you are looking for a spiritual retreat the accommodation will exceed your expectations! Maxine and Suyanto are the most incredible couple with warm and open hearts. They are passionate about sharing their love for Bali. It’s obvious that they enjoy sharing their home with guests and ensured that we were provided with every comfort that we may need. We asked about renting a scooter and they had one delivered to the house before we even got out of bed the next morning. They took us on a secret adventure in the jungle that we would have never been able to find without them. They taught us about local food, customs, and culture. They picked us up in the South of Bali and made several sightseeing stops along the way to make the long drive more enjoyable. Overall, this was one of the best trips I’ve had. The pool and garden were so beautiful that the photos did not even do it justice. The house is kept spotless and they offer breakfast on the patio every morning and lunch, and dinner every day upon request. Would highly recommend Kubu Kusuma to anyone visiting Bali. I would specifically suggest a visit to Lovina just to stay with them.

Marine and Suyanto house was just magic! After being 5 days in Ubud, we arrived in a place very quiet and peaceful! Everything was made here to let us have a very good time! The rooms, the swimming pool and the garden are exactly as on the pictures... even better! You have the possibility to order meal (mie goreng is very good ;-)) The visits they propose are very good and with good price. We made the visit of Buddhist temple and hot spring and also the trek to aling aling waterfall (wonderful for children), Marine was our guide! For sure, next time in Bali, we will stay much longer in "our North Bali house" ;-) Thanks a lot for everything Marine and Suyanto

Maxine & Yantos Kubu Kusuma is a great space to stay during your vacation in the north of Bali. The setting of the villa and its garden welcomes you with a touch of paradise. It is possible to enjoy your holidays just in Kubu Kusama and to relax. As you can book extra meals and Yantos dishes are delishes and tastier than in some restaurants. Maxine is a great host and always available for her guests while respecting the privacy of her guests as well. However, the north of Bali has a lot to offer and it is recommanded to book at least a few of the offerred unexpensive tours. Either completly handled by Maxine & Yanto or by their reliable partners. Maxine and Suyanto were excellent hosts, and their place was gorgeous, clean, and relaxing! There pool is beautiful and clean at all times. We had a great combo of relaxation and exploration at our stay here. Maxine's little shop with jewelry and some clothing is very affordable and lovely! I found lots of treasures. Additionally, there were always cold drinks in the relaxing hang out space. The food Suyanto and Maxine cook is excellent as well! My husband and I definitely recommend staying with Maxine and Suyanto!

Maxine and Yanto’s place is a fantastic holiday option in less touristy north Bali. The hosts go above and beyond with their hospitality and make the stay truly memorable. Yanto’s cooking is fantastic and we would highly recommend to opt for some of his evening meals. The apartment is really spacious and has a relaxing swimming pool and a quiet space for meditation / mindfulness. You can also hear the cute gekos or loud frogs (if at raining) in the evenings. Ear plugs recommended in case of frogs if you are a light sleeper. Daily breakfast prepared by Maxine and daily cleaning of the bedroom were lovely surprises :) there is lots of opportunities for day trips (waterfalls, snorkelling, local market, temples and more) and Maxine and Yanto’s are very happy to share their advice. It was a shame that while we were there, Maxine’s and Yanto’s car was in repair but they were more than happy to arrange for another driver. The villa is set on the outskirts of Lovina which out of tourist season was quite quiet and had a local feel. The closest beach is not as impressive as some of the more famous ones in South Bali but there are great snorkelling spots a bit further off coast. Thank you to Maxine and Yanto for making our stay in Bali so lovely and memorable :)

We were looking for a relaxed, private, quiet space and we found it with Maxine and Suyanto along with nurturing of our bodies with Wayan and her fabulous massaging and Maxine and Suyanto's fabulous food! No detail was overlooked, nothing was too much trouble! Highly recommend this accommodation to experience Indonesia with a few western comforts thrown in!

This is the accommodation you've always wanted to find but very rarely do. Maxine and Yanto are more than super hosts they are the perfect hosts! They give you just the right combination of privacy and hospitality. After an around the world trip all we wanted was to relax by the pool but we got that and so much more. On request M&Y provide the most delicious meals you could ever wish for and far, far better than a restaurant. There is a menu to choose from but we left it up to them to surprise us. Yanto's Spanish mackerel steamed in banana leaves is a taste experience we'll not forget. Lovina is a beautiful place and for us was so much better than the frantic pace of the south. If you're looking for a little taste of paradise and food to match this is the place to choose.

Maxine & Suyanto are the perfect hosts! They make sure you are comfortable, help you with navigating/planning your days, and can set up reliable transportation to/from the airport. The house is in the north (2.5-3.5 hours from airport depending on traffic) and is close to a waterfall, temple, hot spring, markets, and the beach. They have everything needed to chill and stay home (drinks, jewelry, meals, massages for purchase) or can help coordinate/facilitate going out and exploring. I highly recommend eating at home, because they cook delicious meals! The house is spacious with several areas to lounge and a pool to cool off in. My husband and I were so pleased with our stay and hope to come back again soon!

Die Unterkunft ist sehr ländlich und umgeben von netten Nachbarn. Der Weg zu Fuß in die Stadt beträgt ca 30 Minuten. Aber die Beiden haben bereits ihr eihenes Paradies dort. Woran man soch zunächst gewöhnen muss,sind die ganzen Tiere von den Nachbarn,aber auch das ist leim Problem. Maxine und Suyanto sind sehr herzliche und nette Menschen. Wir hoffen,dass wir Sie noch einmal wieder sehen. Diese Unterkunft ist sehr empfehlenswert.

It was like visiting friends, although we had just met. Maxine and Suyanto are absolutely lovely and so welcoming. they gave us a lot of recommendations for our further Bali trip. Sadly, we only had three nights and not much time but they spontaneously organized some activities for us. We particularly enjoyed the walk to the waterfall with Maxine and the snorkeling was amazing too! Be sure to try Suyantos cooking, you'll never have it more fresh or original than there! The house and its surroundings are a little paradise itself. Beautiful garden that is taken care of with so much love.

Maxine est une vraie mere poule toujours preoccupee par votre bien etre sans etre intrusive , suyanto est intéressant et un excellent cuisinier .. nous nous sommes sentis comme chez nous ce que nous recherchions avec notre petite fille de 9 ans qui aime les ambiances familiales .. nous esperons revoir ces adorables personnes un jour .. une belle rencontre .. le seul point negatif fut au moment de les quitter !

This place is truly magical! The accommodations were beautiful and posh, the hosts, Max and Yanto, were amazing people who enhanced our trip tremendously with knowledge of the area and excellent company and conversation. I can't recommend this place enough. If you want to stay in the North of Bali, you would be a fool to stay anywhere else.

Maxine and Suyanto house is really nice. We feel really comfortable to the house, and the pool is really cool. They gave us a lot of tips. The house is in a residential place but really close to the beach and Lovina. You can do so much trips for there. Thank you for everything.

We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon and it was so great! The house was clean and comfortable and close to restarurants, shops, and the beach. Maxine was great at arranging day trips for us so we were able to see so much of Bali and we had so much fun! Maxine and Yanto were so kind and we are happy we decided to stay here, the pool and garden and house are all so beautiful. I would definitely recommend staying here!

My three sisters and I stayed with Maxine & Suyanto for two nights in May 2017. We absolutely loved their place and highly recommend it to visitors who want to explore North Bali and the Lovina area! The grounds and garden are gorgeous, and the pool is so calming. We loved the patio and al fresco dining! The meals Suyanto and Maxine cooked were delicious and well worth the extra fee. Maxine and Suyanto are lovely people to talk to and get to know. It was great to get recommendations on local attractions such as the dolphin tour, snorkeling and Aling Aling waterfall. They also graciously set up drivers and transportation to/from their home and the airport and other locations. Maxine & Suyanto - thanks for making our stay so special. Let us know if you visit the USA or Mexico anytime soon!

I had an amazing stay at Kubu Kusuma. Maxine&Suyanto are very lovely people, they take the best possible care of their guests. Their house is big and spacious, very well equipped. The rooms are nice and clean and the bathroom is amazingly big. Their garden is a heaven in earth, the plants are beautiful, spending time in the garden is very relaxing and you feel like in tropical paradise there. They have a pool, which is great for swimming. They can help with organizing tours. I did three different tours with Maxine and all were amazing. The dolphin watching is really recommended, it is incredible to see them in their natural habitat. You can also do some great snorkeling at the reef near Lovina beach. There are lots of colorful fishes and the water is nice warm and clean. The waterfalls with some jungle trekking are also a beautiful experience. Maxine is a very good guide, she knows well all the sightseeing spots and she is very helpful with everything you need. Overall I highly recommend this place because the hosts are very friendly and their hospitality is amazing. Another reason to book this accommodation is the beautiful house and the many great activity you can do around Lovina area. I'd like to come back one day.

Maxine and Suyanto were AMAZING hosts! The house is absolutely beautiful just like the pictures. It was clean and I felt safe as a solo traveler. Maxine and Suyanto went out their way to make sure my trip was memorable. I will suggest getting an experienced private driver and arrival during to day because the roads are narrow, steap,and curves around. This area of Bali is more quiet than south Bali. I enjoyed the Lovina Beach areas which is not too far from this home. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this home:-)

What can we say..if there is only one advise to make it'd be: book a longer than you expect first, because it's quite hard to leave this small paradise at the end! :-) Maxine and Suyanto are such lovely hosts and are looking after you and your demands at all time. Also, Suyanto is an excellent cook and if you miss his dishes, you'll probably miss the best and most fresh food on the whole island! :-) We also so enjoyed the conversations in the evenings with these two lovely people. All in all, the place is absolutely fantastic and there is not a single thing you can complain about. We had an amazing week at Maxines and Yantos small paradise. We can only emphasize everything positive that has already been written.The house, garden, pool and food exceeded our expectations. There are many great reviews for Kubu Kusuma, and I have to agree with all of them. Maxine & Yanto are the most welcoming hosts you will find and always happy to help, it was a pleasure to share their wonderful home for a week. The house is clean and very comfortable whilst the gardens and pool are a perfect place to spend a few hours relaxing ( yes as good as the pictures, if not better ) Thank you Maxine for being our tour guide, massage arranger and general organiser and thank you Yanto for by far the best food we have had in Bali. We both look forward to getting together again when we are back in Lovina.

Recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing experience in Bali. Being in the quieter side of the island, it's great if all you want to do is just relax. There's also plenty to do if you're up for adventure! Maxine and Yangpo are amazing hosts and will help you with whatever you want to do.

We had a fantastic stay with Maxine and Suyanto. They have a fantastic house, garden and swimming pool which you may use and our room was very spacious, clean and with a very good (bamboo!) bed. They made us feel at home and they are open minded easy going people. A must stay if you are nearby!!

Our stay with Maxine and Suyanto was the highlight of our Bali trip! Not only was the place absolutely fantastic, but we could not have hoped for better hosts. The reviews here on AirBnB are glowing, so we had high expectations. Amazingly these expectations were exceeded. It felt like Maxine and Suyanto had thought of everything to make our stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible, providing the perfect balance of privacy and fun company. We definitely hope to return sometime and give this place our highest recommendation!

Hi everyone. I'm not sure what to say as all the previous guests have basically written what I would like to say so I would be just repeating all the fabulous words and praises! :) The house IS fabulous. It was well maintained, renovated, beautifully repainted and the gardens are lovingly tended and cared for. Maxine is a very kind person and has a wonderful heart. She has a great soul. Her husband is a sweet and sensitive person and he is a peace loving soul. You will enjoy many conversations with Maxine and Yanto! I absolutely adored their cat Chakra! On our first day, we walked along the beach and we were approached by locals flogging their things for sale but they wont do any harm. Just be firm, say no, smile and walk away. Had lunch at ab hotel resort restaurant. On the second day M&Y took us to the waterfalls and I loved it, especially being surrounded by the jungle. At the end of the visit, we had fruit at a small place owned by a local man who played music for us. The coffee plantation was closed. Maybe it will be open for you. We had a look at the famous Hindu temple by the lake and it was gorgeous. Go! I recommend you spend some hours there just relaxing and absorbing its powerful and positive energy. I dont advise that you go, take photos, have a quick walk around and go. Do stay there and take your time! On the third day, we went scuba diving. If you are conscious with the protection and preservation of coral like I am, please go with a diving club that is protective like I am. I don't recommend Spice dive club as our dive guide did not do a briefing before our dive and his silver wand dragged along the seabed and touched a few corals. Please use another diving club and do your research before uou go to Bali. On the fourth day, we took it easy and relaxed. On our fifth and last day, Yanto took us to thr lookout view of Sari volcano. I recommend you hike around the area and walk up thr Sari mountain if its safe and get fit! In all, I recommend you hire a scooter and get out and about and take your time. Enjoy the slow paced way of life and try to visit Bali thoroughly. Enjoy your holidays! I shall be back and I will stay with Maxine and Yanto again. Thanks you guys for looking after me and dad. Much appreciated and lots of love from us xxxx

Maxine and Yanto are a charming couple. They are dedicated to helping their guests have a wonderful holiday and get the most out of their time in Bali. They made themselves available at all times to advise, help, guide, make reservations and accompany us on trips and excursions, making it very easy for us to experience much of Bali's culture and scenery. We felt relaxed and very much part of the family. Their hospitality was unstinting. We also loved Yanto's cooking.

This place is absolutely magical. There is a beautiful pool, a very cool hang out space where you can buy drinks and other amenities, and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. On top of the beautiful grounds, Maxine and Yanto are wonderful, kind people who will welcome you in with open arms. It was so lovely coming home to them and chatting with them about our days. They arranged things for us like a dolphin viewing trip, snorkeling, and a fantastic massage right there at the house. We also took a cooking class from Yanto which was so fun and so delicious! I highly recommend that you have Yanto prepare you a few meals while you are there, and take the class if you enjoy cooking. The complimentary breakfast was also delicious and filling. Come here to have a peaceful vacation with some wonderful people who will do everything they can to help you enjoy your trip.

We did a lot of fantastic things around and enjoyed the cooking class with Yanto, sooo deliciouse ;-) and also: relaxing at the pool (with a surrounding paradise) was just awesome!! This is not just an AirBnB, it is an unforgettable experience. Maxine & Yanto go far above & beyond all expectations, we can't thank them enough for opening up their beautiful home and being so kind & caring to us. Lovina is a beautiful place, quiet & calm with few tourists but so worth a visit. From the moment we were collected from the airport to the moment we left we were so well looked after! I would highly recommend the dolphin snorkelling, an unforgettable experience. There is no need to leave the house for meals, Yanto's cooking is the best...but if you do leave, be sure to follow all their recommendations because they are equally brilliant. Hire the moped and go out & explore. I will be telling anyone I know visiting Bali to stay with Maxine & Yanto because it really is like visiting paradise, thank you both so so much!

We we fortunate enough to find Maxine & Suyanto's lovely home while looking for a place to start our honeymoon in Bali. During the booking process, even before we arrived in Bali, we knew we were in good hands. Maxine and Suyanto were very accessible as we planned the part of our trip in Lovina, suggesting things to do during the day and just making us feel comfortable. When we arrived they had tea to welcome us, which was a great touch after a long trip. During our time stay they always gave us the right balance of attention and privacy, making sure we had what we needed to make our vacation as enjoyable as possible. They also made themselves available to drive us around to various day trips, which was a life-saver, as anyone who's been to Bali knows that traffic can be insane. Everything was perfect: the meals (both are great cooks!), the pool, the sleeping arrangements, the back balcony and the front porch, the privacy the property offers and the beautiful sounds of nature....we could go on forever. The day trips to see dolphins, snorkel, hiking and waterfalls were much fun. What's more, Maxine and Suyanto went above and beyond when our next accommodations on Bali didn't turn out as expected. Even though our stay with them was over, they came and picked us up in another town and drove us to Ubud where we managed to make last minute change to our plans. We've begun referring to them as out Patron Saints of Bali, and can't wait to visit them when we return to Indonesia!

It's realy unique place. A little piece of tranquility and luxury sourounded by local people going about their everyday life's. Great place to escape from busy south and enjoy best of old Bali. Hardly any tourists. True fortress of solitude. Food was freshly prepared from scratch and tasted amazing. It was a perfect place for us. Only sad about not staying longer.

We spent 3 nights in this beautiful house. Maxime ans Sayunto are both extraordinary person. The garden and the swimming are Just like on the pictures. Sayunto prepared our diner every evening and they were absolutely tasty and delicious. We strongly recommend this place.

Maxine and Yanto were the perfect hosts! As descriptive as they were of their place, my expectations were certainly met and then some. I never felt more comfortable staying in somebody's home while they stay there too! And breakfast every morning was such a special touch. Best scrambled eggs I've ever had :-) I Felt like I was staying with my own personal travel agents as well! Every time we wanted to do something we were given the best ideas, best deals, and we had the best time doing everything they suggested. From renting motorbikes, seeing the dolphins in the morning ( which we saw hundreds! ), snorkeling, waterfall tour, Hot Springs and Buddhist temple excursion, having Yanto Cook us dinner one night and then having a cooking class with him another night, volcano hike on Java, eating at the best and cheapest restaurant in town with no name… I can go on and on! And when we weren't on the go, relaxing around the house and swimming in the pool was perfect! Being able to jump in the pool anytime we wanted to without other guests around made the experience even better. Lovina is the perfect location if you want to have an adventure AND relax! The house is also not too far from many beaches, shops, and restaurants. But renting the motorbikes were really fun to get around on. My two friends and I also loved our personal massage therapist who came to the house, Wyan. What a lovely woman! Maxine is also a beautiful artist. She has a section in the house where you can purchase her handmade jewelry made with lava stones and gems. I couldn't help myself to buy a few :-) she also has the most beautiful sarongs for sale as well for a great price! My friends and I love Maxine and Yanto so much we can't wait to book our next trip to Lovina!:)

We dont even know where to begin - if your thinking about booking Maxine and Yantos house - DO IT - from the time we arrived to the time we left we were treated like royalty. Everything was private and PERFECT. We did the dolphin/ snorkeling tour AMAZING The cooking class and night market with Yanto - AMAZING Hot temple and springs, many temples, shopping - I could go on everything was perfect. We loved relaxing by the pool, and in the open upstairs having private massages for cheap! Maxine and Yanto felt like family the moment we met them and gave us the best time taking us for many authentic meals and also cooking for us when we didnt want to do anything

Amazing host and amazing property. Words cannot describe how beautiful this property is. You have to go and experience it. We had a very short, albeit a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Would go back as soon as we get a chance for a longer stay.

Maxine and Yanto were the more hospitable, friendly, and kindest hosts that we have ever had so far! Their residence is truly a private paradise and Lovina is a lovely and quiet northern city that we enjoyed very much. It's much less touristy than other cities in Bali. Maxine offered many tours and advice to us. We did the dolphin tour (highly recommended!) and the Trek to Ijen crater in Java, as well as the Aling-Aling waterfall and activity trek, visited the hot springs and Buddhist temple. All of their organized tours were arranged for us by Maxine and Yanto and transport was always included. Whenever we weren't doing tours, we were hanging out by the pool in the very well maintained garden. We enjoyed many hours just relaxing at home. (Literally the only issue we could even find is that the wifi only works on the top balcony of the house and is still quite slow- not a problem for us, as we had enough to keep us busy! But could be an eventual problem for other guests.) The entire residence is very quiet and lovely for relaxing. The city center and beach are about 20-25 minutes walking, but you can take a motorbike much faster. The beach is quiet and the sand is black (!) which is always a change in scenery, and we saw hundreds of dolphins out in the water during our tour. Maxine and Yanto offered cooking class which was delicious and fun! Motorbikes were also available for hire for good price, and were delivered to us and picked up next day. Everything was truly perfect and hassle-free, and we would stay again with this wonderful couple in a heartbeat! Thank you so much again, Maxine and Yanto. We hope to stay with you again someday.

Staying with Maxine was absolutely amazing. They were very welcoming and helped us with booking local tours. If they ask if you want to go to a grilled fish restaurant go because it's delicious. They are not right on the beach but they are not far and they are always around to take you if you want to go. I would definitely stay there again at their little oasis.

Had the most relaxing, incredible time at Maxine and Yanto's. They were the perfect hosts, made us feel very spoilt. Recommended to friends already who have booked to stay in a couple of months time. If your looking for a quiet get away with the opportunity for lots of trips/excursions then this place is for you!

Maxine und Yanto leben in ihrem eigenen kleinen Paradis und geben ihren Gästen die Möglichkeit für kurze Zeit, Teil davon zu sein. Das Haus ist ein Traum und der Garten ist wunderbar. Wenn in der Gegend nicht so viele Dinge wären, die man sich anschauen oder machen kann, würde man das Grundstück nicht verlassen. Maxine und Yanto sind bei allen Fragen und Anliegen überaus hilfsbereit und es ist auch wirklich nett und interessant mit ihnen am Abend beim Feuer zusammenzusitzen. Das Haus liegt, wie auch beschrieben, nicht am Meer aber ein 20 minütiger Spaziergang ist auch sehr nett und wenn man ein Moped hat- das Yanto organisieren kann- ist es sowieso kein Thema. Wir (Familie mit zwei Kindern) wuerden jeder Zeit wieder hinfahren.

Staying at Maxine and Suyanto's house has been amazing. First of all, they're very nice, gentle and helpful: they'll do everything to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Then, the villa: a super cozy ambient where to find several spots to relax. Moreover, it’s easy to reach the Lovina centre from the house - especially if you use the motorbike (my boyfriend and I suggest this option to better explore the area). Despite spending only 3 days here, we tried the cooking class and the massage at Maxine and Suyanto's home: lovable experiences.

On ne peut pas mieux être accueilli par Maxine et son compagnon qui cuisine à merveille. C'est une formidable rencontre qui restera dans nos coeurs. ils savent vous organiser et faciliter la vie sur place organisation de loc de scooters, de location bateau avec capitaine pour escapade en mer a la recherche des dauphins (et oui malheureusement ce jour ci nous ne les avons pas vu...sniff). superbe piscine et espaces de zenitude. Frigo a disposition avec boissons fraiches il suffit comme dans un hotel de marquer a la confiance ses achats.

Wow, this venue is great. We were so surprised from the Villa, the garden and the pool. We enjoyed 4 lovely days with maxi and yanto. Of course we and Clara especially felt in love with Chakra the cat. It is a very clean house, large rooms, bathroom and garden. It is not only the facility which is awesome - it is Maxi and Yanto. We had a really pleasant stay at Maxine and Suyanto's house . We haven t the chance to see Maxine but Suyanto was a perfect host . He takes us in very good places to eat ( we eat with him the best grilled fish of our trip !!! ) . Suyanto also help us to organize our excursions , finding is a nice driver . And what to say about the house ? It s just so beautiful , with a lovely garden and a swimming pool , a big room , different places to relax ... Thanks for everything .

De communicatie vooraf was prima in orde. Behulpzaam, vriendelijk en niet opdringerig. En zo was ook de houding van Maxine en Soyanto gedurende ons verblijf. Ze geven je verblijf een opgewekte sfeer mee. Het huis is heerlijk, er is een grote, prachtige tuin met lekker zwembad en voldoende plekjes om op jezelf te zijn. De bedden zijn aan de harde kant, sommigen van ons gezin vonden dat fijn. Er zijn in de omgeving mooie uitstapjes te maken. De weg naar Lovina kun je lopen, maar vonden wij zelf toch te lang. Gelukkig zijn de verhuurders zeer flexibel en brengen je graag overal naar toe. Het eten dat Soyanto bereidt, is heerlijk! Wij vonden het noorden van Bali een verademing na het mierennest van het zuiden. Kortom: een echte aanrader!

Maxine and Yanto are very welcoming and good hostes. We got tasty breakfast and dinner, our 3 kids Said that Yanto made the Best fried chicken they had ever had ; ) They aranged a dolfin and snorkeling tour that started later than most boats. So when we got to the dolfins there where only 5 other boats. We have been on a Tour before where we went early and there where about 30 boats chasing the dolfins. This was so much nicer. Maxine took us to the hot springs and this was also a great Tour. Many local families because of the school holiday in Bali. We loved our stay in their beautiful House. Thank you Maxine and Yanto.

We spent two nights at Maxine and Suyanto's house and had really a great time. The house is beautiful, the garden and the pool are paradise on earth, decorated with love. Their welcome was very warmhearted and we immediately felt comfortable. Suyanto is also a very good cook and he prepared delicious breakfasts and dinners. I would highly recommend a stay at Maxine and Suyanto's house.

We had a fantastic stay with Maxine and Suyanto in their beautiful Balinese villa. It completely lived up to the photos and the description and all the glowing reports from previous visitors. It was a perfect place to relax but also close to the many attractions of the lovely Lovina and other areas of North Bali. We felt completely at home from the moment we arrived. Suyanto cooked us a wonderful dinner and Maxine did delicious breakfasts. They were also really helpful in driving us into Lovina when we were too lazy to walk. They also offer guided day trips out which sounded excellent although we had a driver so didn't manage to go out with them. It is a wonderful way to stay in a gorgeous Balinese house and get to see "the real" Bali whilst still having those little luxuries - a pool, wifi (a little patchy), DVDs etc etc. Can't recommend it more highly.

Our stay at kubu kusuma guest house was a fantastic. Maxine and Suyanto were the perfect hosts. Nothing was to much trouble and they made us very welcome. Suyantos cooking is excellent restaurant quality in your home. Lovina beach is a 15 min stroll away but for a nominal fee the hosts will pick you up or drop you off. If you do have bit to much to drink in Lovina all the taxis seem to know where "Maxine's place" is. The only 1 down side was the wifi was a bit hit or miss. But saying that Suyanto was moving heaven and earth to fix this small hiccup in an otherwise perfect holiday destination.

Maxine and Yanto were really nice and helpful when we arrived at Bali. They told us what we should see and visit and helped us organize motobikes and trips. The rooms including the bathroom were always tidy and clean. On the outside you can find an amazing garden with a cold pool. The breakfast and other meals were very delicious. In summary one could say that there is nothing to add and we are happy that we had such great hosts. PS: we like to give 6 of 5 Stars

My experience with Maxine and Yanto was nothing short of wonderful. They both went above and beyond in order to make sure that we were well taken care of. They made accommodations for transportation from the airport to their house. We arrived around 9:30 pm so at first we could not see how spectacular their home was. The pictures online simply do not do the place any justice. Everyone that we met through Maxine and Yanto including them were very friendly and kind. We promptly received our welcome drink upon arrival and had a chance to get to know Maxine the first night. Since then, they have done so much for us to make sure we were feeling comfortable and enjoying our stay. Every morning Maxine and/or Yanto would make us a delicious breakfast. They make themselves very available to their guests whether it be booking snorkeling trips through trusted people or having them be personal drivers and guides for some amazing attractions, Maxine and Yanto were there with smiling faces. Maxine and Yanto were able to show us a side of Bali that no guidebook ever could. We are now leaving Bali with some new friends. They are incredible hostesses and when we come back to Bali, we will make sure to stay with them.

Maxine is more than just a host! During our two days of stay, she made sure we have the best time in Lovina. She organised and assisted us in tours, we even went to a local market for shopping, a great experience! The house is welcoming, the garden is wonderful. Our trip was better just because we stayed here. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely time at kubu kasuma! Maxine and Yanto are the couple Airbnb was invented for. Tanto picked us up from our resort in Pemuteran ten minutes early, and from that moment until we left a few nights later they really took care of us. Their home is lovely, a short zip off the main road makes for a quiet retreat. The garden and pool are Gorgeous. Maxine was a great resource for local directions, and Yanto is a superior cook. If you are lucky you will get to have dinner with them at least one night on the patio. The location is great, a 20 minute scooter ride will take you to museums, hot springs, temples, waterfalls, cold springs, chocolate shops, dolphin watching.

Stayed with Maxine and Yanto for 8 days with my partner. Received an airport pick up all the way to Lovina which was great! When we arrived we were taken back with how nice the place is. Such a nice property in amazing tropical surroundings! Maxine and Yanto were always around to make our stay more comfortable and fun, especially when they brought out the Arak! They can organise loads of tours and have so much advice on amazing things to do in the surrounding area, highly recommend the private dolphin and snorkelling tour and the waterfalls!! Breakfast is made for you every day which is never fails to delight. And the lunch menu is really nice as well. When we didn't want to go out Maxine and Yanto were always there to chat to and have a good time with, bbq's, drinks by the pool, music etc! Had the best stay here and have made friends for life in Maxine and Yanto so I can highly recommend it for anyone. As Maxine would say: FAR OUUUTT!!!

Maxine and Yanto are just fabulous. They came together to pick us up directly at the airport and ready for a drive to their place. We stopped on the way to a local place to discover some specialities of Bali which was great. Their house is a little Balinese paradise with wonderful garden and pool area which we enjoyed after a full day on a scooter. The room is large with great volumes , comfortable bed and large bathroom very clean. The location is IDEAL , central in lovina. Maxine and Yanto made our stay in Lovina unforgettable as they helped us in renting a motorbike, finding good place to eat outside, giving us some advices and good activities to do in the area. It is a private paradise, don't hesitate, just book it and enjoy. It is the absolute perfect mixture of a homestay with access to the local life, combined with all the amenities and services only superb hotels offer. The food is gorgeous, for meatlovers as well as for vegans - every single dish was just delicious. Maxime and Yanto are amazing hosts, from the very first moment we felt like staying with good friends... communication was very easy and kind, from the initial booking until the very last moment when we left. Those two people really have a big heart and its pretty much fun spending time with them. Throughout our days, they were not only hosts... but turned into cook, driver, guide, babysitter, laundry service... everything one can imagine. Maxime made a huge brekfast every morning out of yummy fruit salad, eggs, vegetables, toast, coffee & tea. Yanto is an amazing cook and prepared for lunch and dinner truly original idonesian dishes... far beyond the regular stuff you can get in the restaurants, he uses a big variety of seasonal fresh products the local market has on offer. The small tours they took us were just fun and nice. Judging the area, the beach area and the touristic spots we felt it not worth spending a minute... but with Yanto and Maxine we got access to the interior, went to temples, waterfalls, markets etc. As we already travelled across all big indonesian islands, it was a very nice experience to see that the real Bali still exists up here in the North. To sum it up: the house is huge and airy, it is super clean and well kept, the biiig garden and the pool and the poolhut and the terrace with daybed are just great, the services are far beyond standard and the hosts are "tiptop" - all that for a reasonable price. Cannot recommend it more.

Book it! We could not have been happier at this place. Maxine and Yanto are the best hosts we've had so far. The food, the pool, and the whole Villa is spectacular. There is also a lot of excursions to do while you're there like dolphin watching at sunrise and swimming in water falls. I couldn't recommend this or the hosts more. You won't be disappointed.

Staying here was such a pleasure. As soon as we arrived we felt extremely welcomed and were treated like family. The home and property is amazing, the pool is really lovely for night or day dips! We did a few cooking lessons and found that we learned so much and the company was amazing. We're looking forward to making everything when we get home. Maxine and Jonto took us to see the sunset and went with us on a magical snorkeling tour to Menjangan island, we highly recommend going there if you like diving or snorkeling. Our favorite memories of Bali are of Lovina and staying with Maxine and Suyanto. From the moment we arrived it felt like we were visiting old friends. We were greeted with glasses of iced tea, prefect after the drive from Ubud. The house is wonderful and the surrounding garden and pool are breathtaking, even better than the pictures. Maxine and Yanto have done an amazing job! It's a little slice of heaven. Our stay couldn't have been better even if we wanted it to. The rooms and bathroom are very spacious and clean! The entire house is very open and full of light. Maxine is very down to earth and easy to talk to. She is more than happy to assist with any excursions and transportation. We all truly enjoyed the dolphin tour, waterfalls and hot springs. It was so special to get to know both Maxine and Yanto, we truly appreciate all their hospitality.

Maxine and Yanto are the most welcoming and service minded people you will ever find. They will definately go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They arranged transport, dolphine tour (a must!), cooking class, a trip to the hot springs and Buddist Temple, drove us to various restaurants, took us shopping, arranged for our laundery to be washed, made us endless cups of tea etc. etc. Everything for a very modest price (we didn't pay extra for many of the times they drove us, the tea etc Maxine even baby sat our 10 month old baby when we went on the dolphone tour! The place is lovely. Both of the bedrooms spacious with goodworking fans and comfortable enough beds. The cleanest place so far in Bali and so well taken care of! They have a nice terrace on the top floor with a wonderful dayved where we spent many hours just reading anf playong with our baby. Yanto is an excellent cook, and we ended up having a lot of out meals in the villa with him and Maxine because of this. All anf all a great stay with great people. Although if you don't have much time in Bali, I wouldn't stay more than 5 days here as there's not much more to do than the Dolphins, the waterfalls and the temple (apart from just hanging out which you can do endless an amount of days there!)

Entering Maxine and Suyanto's house is something cannot be described, it is like entering in different world, a pure, clean, relaxing and perfect place, where these two guys are ready to help you in every single things, from telling you where you have to go to find untouched and wild nature waterfalls, to prepare you delicious dinner spiced up by awesome stories from all over the world. We only stayed one night at Maxine and Yanto's beautiful home however we felt like we had stayed a lot longer. We immediately felt at home there. The bedroom was large and the garden/pool area beautifully maintained. The house was tucked away down a small street close to shops and restaurants although we had dinner cooked for us by Yanto which was delicious. Maxine was very good at organising us massages and tours and helped intervene with an awkward situation with a local. We would definitely stay there again next time we are in Lovina!

We had a lovely experience with Maxine and Yanto! The house is beautiful and looks just it does in the photos. We stayed for two nights during the New Year and it was the perfect way to spend our holiday. Also, Yanto is an excellent cook! We are looking forward to going back again later this year.

I cannot speak highly enough of both the Kubu Kusuma house and Maxine and Yanto's hospitality. They are both warm and friendly people who have hosting down to a fine art. Our family were made to feel most welcome and the beautiful pool and gazebo area provided the perfect retreat and play area for our kids. The breakfasts were delicious and Maxine and Yanto's car service proved extremely helpful for our family, getting either to or from town. Based on the previous reviews and photographs, we thought this stay would be perfect for the needs of our family holiday. We can now honestly say the experience even exceeded our expectations. The kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maxine and Yanto's beautiful home. It's exactly like the pictures but even more serene. With 3 teenagers in tow, I was a little concerned they might get bored but the kids loved the house and enjoyed hanging out by the pool, reading, playing racket ball in the garden and even learning how to cook sambal mentah! Maxine took us to the hot springs and pointed out areas we should explore, as well as making the arrangements to see the dolphins. Yanto on the other hand was ever ready to whip up delicious meals which we all enjoyed together as "family". And I have to mention, breakfast by bale next to the pool is such a treat which I wish I could experience every day! Thank you so much for hosting us and I feel blessed to have gotten to know the 2 of you and of course, Chakra! We will be back!

Maxine and Yanto were fantastic hosts in a lovely home. We were satisfied and more with their service and attentiveness. The home was very neatly maintained, the pool was beautiful, and the food they prepared was delicious. We couldn't be happier with our decision to stay here.

Staying with Maxine and Yanto was a very special experience. From the very beginning I felt like a very special guest in their home. They're property is a big, beautiful balinese house, tucked away in Lovina. My bedroom had plenty of privacy, was clean and the bed very comfortable. I had my own massive bathroom and felt very at home lounging around the house and in the garden. Although its a bit far from the beach by foot, they were happy to drop me off in town if I requested. However they live in such a beautiful place I didn't feel the need to leave on some days. They also took me to surrounding sites including the natural hot springs, a near by temple and the Aling Aling falls. Maxine made me a very generous breakfast each morning, and Yanto cooked amazing meals for dinner. Meals other than breakfast and sight seeing came with a very reasonable fee, especially for the convenience. Their house is a very well set up place to stay for Airbnb guests and one of the best I've stayed at. Yanto and Maxine are home most of the time and available to be hosts unlike many other Airbnb listings. It was so lovely meeting Yanto and Maxine that I look forward to returning to their place - not only to enjoy their beautiful property, but also catch up with them. They're beautiful people and made my trip very special.

My family and I had a really nice experience staying at Kubu Kusuma. We loved the villa - the pool was a huge hit with our children, and the garden was beautiful. We wanted to experience a more traditional and less touristy side of Bali, and we certainly found it here! Maxine and Yanto are wonderful hosts and they are the main reason we enjoyed our stay in Lovina so much. They were very helpful with their recommendations for places to visit and helped us with all the arrangements to get to the Aling-Aling waterfall, dolphin watching and a trip to the hot springs. Kubu Kusuma is a perl in beautiful North Bali. The property is huge and safe, the pool is great for relaxing after a long day. It offers bright and clean bedroom and the biggest private bathroom we have ever seen. Maxine takes care about everything so we really felt like coming home. We enjoyed our four nights stay so please do not book shorter, otherwise you will miss to see the stars while you are swimming in the pool. Yanto preapared delicious and healthy meals for us for a great price. And Maxine gave us an amazing breakfast every mornig, full of fruits, coffee, toast and Indonesia n style when we wished. In all we had four unforgettable days and want to say THANKS to our amazing hosts.

Absolutely loved staying at Maxine and Yanto's oasis of a B&B - it's exactly like it looks in the photos. The place is beautiful, and the pool was built and ready just in time for my arrival. They are the ultimate hosts - if you'd like to do your own thing, they will leave you be but if you want to socialize, they're also game. Yanto is an excellent cook if you want to do dinner at the B&B, and Maxine makes a great breakfast. For the price you pay, the hosts you have and the setting, this is a must-stay place in Lovina. This little oasis was over and above what I expected!! I wanted to experience the real Bali but with a bit of class right....well Maxine & Yanto have created exactly that! We were pampered and treated like princesses as Maxine loves to nurture and provide a nice mis of privacy as well time spent getting to know each other. In fact, we felt in such a short space of time like we were sisters from another lifetime. The outdoor pool area was absolutely divine, surrounded by nature, constantly manicured gardens, food, drinks and service absolutely tops! I really cant rave enough and I cant wait to return here again. You will not be disappointed by this one!

Coming to Lovina and staying with Maxine and Yanto was our favorite part of our trip! We felt like we were finally able to relax after how busy things were in Seminyak. They made great recommendations for us, our favorites being a visit to Aling-Aling waterfall and a tasty duck restaurant where you could also go swimming. We rented a motorbike from them so got around mostly that way. They even arranged to drive us to the airport after check out. And before we arrived, they arranged for a great driver to take us from where we were staying down south all the way to Lovina (~3 hr drive). We did a cooking class and it was amazing. We all went to the market together and then prepped an amazing meal. Yanto's cooking is divine. Every morning, Maxine prepared a lovely breakfast for us with a huge fruit salad and lots of coffee (even though my partner has weird dietary restrictions). We were so glad we got to stay with a couple of people who live locally, have good recommendations, and are really awesome people to hang out with. Would definitely come back if we ever get the chance!

Wow! Best place to stay in Lovina - when the pool is finished, this will be heaven on earth! Great fresh food (yummy fruit salad!) prepared by Suyanto and Maxine is the perfect way to start or end the day! Very helpful in organizing the most amazing trips (Aling waterfalls, Kawah Ijen, etc.) - so there is nothing more to wish for! Highly recommended stay!

The house maxine and yanto have is beautiful! And they are such a nice couple! Maxine is chill and easy going and yanto has that great smile indonesian people have. The top part of the house is the best place to relax. When we were there they were making a pool so it got a bit noisy in the afternoon, also there are some roosters in the vicinity so earplugs is a good idea but other than that we had a great time staying at their place.

Our time at Kubu Kusuma was great! We immediatly felt like at home! Yanto and Maxine were the best hosts we ever had. The cooking-lesson was nice and the advice we got were very helpfully. We, I and my daughter, had a wonderful time in Maxine's and Yanto's home. They did everything to make us welcome and feel at home. The B&B was fantastic. We were made feel so welcome. It was a lovely 20 walk through the village to town. We had lots of laughs and lots of fun. The gardens and house are beautiful and there are lots of quite spots to relax.

Unbelievable hosts with a fabulous home. Their listing is completely accurate and their home is even more beautiful and peaceful in person. We only had a short time with them and really truly wish we could have stayed longer. We would highly recommend this home as well as the hosts to future travellers.

The house is a Balinese typical one with a lot of color and the garden is a peaceful area where you can relax and just chill. Maxine and her husband were very helpful to organize our next few days and organize a wonderful dolphin tour with local people. They can also Provide you a ride or picking you up in another city at a regular price for drivers. They are welcoming people happy to receive the guest and the dinner after the cooking lesson was wonderful (dinner has to be paid).

Lorsque nous sommes arrivées à Kubu Kusuma notre première impression fut "Waw !!!". Nous ne nous attendions pas à atterrir dans un endroit aussi magnifique. Un havre de paix après la tumultueuse Jimbaran. Nos hôtes nous ont accueillies avec chaleur et bienveillance. Ils nous ont organisé une superbe journée découverte : baignade au Banjar hot spring, visite du Brahma Arana Vihara et balade dans les rizières et la jungle avec Putu. Nous avons goûté à la délicieuse cuisine de Yanto et passé une agréable soirée en leur compagnie autour d'un verre sur la plage. 3 journées enchanteresses à Lovina.

We spent 2 nights in this amazing place! The house and the garden are beautiful, there are nice and relaxing. It's a really good place to stay if you want to visit lovina and nearby. Moreover maxine and yanto are really nice owners, they gave us really good advice about things to do! And answers all the questions we had about transport, Landry, dolphin trip. The cooking lesson was unforgettable, yanto is a good teacher. The breakfast is also one of the best we had in our all trip!

Maxine and yanto where the best hosts! Together we did some sightseeing and went to the hotspring. She and yanto gave us many of tips voor the rest of the holiday. We enjoyd the cooking lesson and the family dinner on or arrival day! Yantos fried chicken with mustard is amazing. We are gonna try to make it at home! The house and garden is really beautiful and it felt just like home! Keep on going!

We had a great time we Maxime and Suyanto. They are really great hosts. We felt like home. We are travelling with 2 small kids that were running around non stop. Its an ideal place for families. My stay at the house of Maxine and Yanto was lovely. They are wonderful hosts! We had a great tour together to the hot springs and a temple, a nice the cooking class (especially eating the really tasty food) and good conversations! Maxine and Yanto made me feel really welcome! The room and the bathroom are both very spacious and clean. The house has a couple of places to relax and a big garden. So a perfect place to enjoy and relax.

Our stay at Kubu Kusuma couldn't have been better! Maxine and Yanto were spectacular hosts from the moment we expressed interest in staying with them to the moment we arrived at our following destination. Our stay was wonderful, and the northern Bali segment of our trip was so easy, thanks to Maxine and Yanto's much appreciated advice and facilitation of activities and transportation (the driver they recommended was possible one of the sweetest men I've ever met). The listing was exactly as described and then some. Kubu Kusuma is a beautiful slice of paradise nestled into a little hillside. The grounds are stunning. There is a common area upstairs perfect for lounging - complete with radio, fans, cooler, and plenty of refreshments for purchase on the honor system - which we found to be extremely convenient, and a nice break from haggling on the street! Next door is a small structure with a floor for lounging and one perfect for yoga. Out back is a stream and outdoor shower (there's one inside too), and the sound of running water is so soothing... Aside from the physical space, Maxine and Yanto were ever so warm and full of energy! Yanto's cooking is to die for (!) and lessons are available and recommended (if possible accompany them to the market - it was an experience in and of itself). Maxine is full of stories and ideas to share, and willing to go out of her way to help make your stay a terrific one. We felt blessed to have found them both. Our group of four travelers highly recommends Kubu Kusuma if you'll be staying near Lovina, or traveling up north for any reason. Do pick your hosts brain's about activities - their passion for Bali is contagious!
