Exploring Joglo Jepun in Bali Firefly BnB left me utterly unimpressed. This presentation felt like a flashy waste of time: all clicking and spinning, with none of the straightforward clarity I wanted. Zero stars for this browsing experience.
The virtual preview of Joglo Jepun in Bali Firefly BnB was maddening. I wanted a simple overview for my Ubud plans, but the whole experience felt overcomplicated and exhausting. I would rather close the tab than wrestle with another scene.
I found the tour for Joglo Jepun in Bali Firefly BnB painfully tedious. The presentation tries far too hard to impress, and for me it falls completely flat. More spectacle than useful browsing; absolutely not my idea of a helpful preview.
We had stayed here before and were looking forward to returning. The location is great if you are travelling lightly, there is a bit of a walk to the place. The gardens are beautiful, very tranquil and the shared pool is nice. The joglo itself is quite charming, I'd say rustic rather than luxurious. It's quite tiny, great for a solo traveller or short stay for a couple. The bed is quite small. Plenty of wildlife at night, fireflies, frogs, lizards, snakes etc. And the mosquitoes are voracious so bring repellent. Breakfasts were made beautifully, Kadek is there by himself looking after all the villas so they do arrive slowly, but always good. If you're into the whole vegan thing you'll love it. We had issues with no hot water for four nights which was disappointing, I think the owners were overseas and are unable to manage things from afar. I'd recommend getting a local driver, we had prearranged a driver from Firefly and he arrived over an hour and a half late. Nice enough stay.
Kadek was really helpful and attentive with everything. The house was clean but really old. Many things needing upgrads there. The setting beautiful with lush gardens of tropics. Nice to listen to the birds. insects, however some neighors were pretty noisy nightime.

Beautiful space with a lovely garden pool. I really enjoyed the garden! Property has a beautiful zen sitting area in a fish pond too enjoy as well. Breakfast was amazing! I appreciate that it is a vegan menu. There were some great books inside too too enjoy. It’s all so very cute. Bring bug spray though! I did get allot of attention by the mosquitos.
The location of this Bnb is lovely - you'll feel like you're in a remote part of the jungle, though only a short walk to town. Pros: Penelope was very communicative via message. Breakfast on day one was delicious. Jungle sounds and nature setting cannot be beat! Close walk to cute Cafe and rice paddies. Kadek was very friendly. Definitely bring a flashlight when returning to the room at night. The other side: The room is indeed very basic and sufficient for a budget traveler. As others have said, wifi barely works in the room. I have since found other spots with similar pricing and a bit nicer space. The fan in this room isn't very strong so on night one when there wasn't any air movement the room got very stuffy, especially with the mosquito net down. The taxi driver who was to meet me at the airport was not there when I first arrived even though my plane was late. I searched for 1/2 an hour to find him. Breakfast on day two - fruit wasn't very ripe and the main dish, though delicious was very sweet which made for a bit of a energy sugar slump later in the day. As a solo woman traveler I appreciate having on site hosts who can provide a bit more information, help with getting directions, and recommendations. Since Penelope was out of town Kadek was the main point of contact for this but he provided very little information when I tried to engage in conversation on this. Not a negative, just something to be aware of if you're expecting a more hosted experience. Glad I spent my first two nights here and ready to move up to a spot with ac!
Un lieux magnifique le jardin est à couper le souffle. Cerise sur les gâteau une magnifique piscine. La chambre est bien entretenue. Ont dort véritablement au milieu de la nature. L’hôte est très agréable et très sympathique.
Kadek and his family were the loveliest hosts. Very responsive and helpful. The breakfast was divine. The level of care put into the tree house and the luscious garden and secluded pool is unreal. Thank you !

We had a very good and unique stay at Kadek’s place. The room was clean and had a very nice cultural vibe and the overall location was picturesque and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing stay. There are also a couple good restaurants within walking distance and the area is not too far from the busier location of the Ubud Main Street if you want to explore. Kadek and his family were very accommodating and helpful, with a wonderful breakfast provided every morning also. I would certainly recommend.
Il soggiorno nel Jogloo è stato meraviglioso! Svegliarsi immersi nella natura e godersi le buonissime colazioni di Kadek in balcone o nel patio è stato impagabile. A 20 min di scooter dal centro di Ubud, ma in una posizione riparata che ci ha garantito la tranquillità che cercavamo. In più, Kadek è un host attento e gentile, molto premuroso e mai invadente.
Un posto incantevole immerso in un giardino che riappacifica i sensi. Ottimo per meditare ed immergersi nella natura splendide di questo posto. Un po’ scomoda la posizione ma centro raggiungibile ad una mezz’oretta di cammino o 10 min in scooter
Wow what a beautiful peaceful stay! Kadek and his beautiful family were so helpful, we felt well looked after and the best breakfast we’ve had travelling, we have waited so long for some vegan food and Kadeks cooking did not disappoint!
Kadek & Putus were amazing hosts, they were always so friendly and responsive. They had a guidebook with great recommendations, Wayan is a great recommended driver and had a lot of knowledge on Ubud. If I ever return to Bali, I would definitely stay at this property again.
Kadek was a great host and helpful in every way possible. He made my trip very enjoyable. He is also a fantastic chef who made exceptional breakfasts all vegan. Will stay again

A super accommodation! We can only recommend to stay here. The facility and pool feel like paradise and you feel right at home thanks to the hosts. You get an authentic insight into the Balinese culture and the breakfast from Kadek and his family was always delicious. You get a drink (even special requests are warmly implemented), a fruit plate and a meal. The Joglo is open to the outside, so you can hear nature as you fall asleep. However, due to the mosquito net, one does not have to worry about insects or the like. We would come back anytime, we would have stayed longer if we had more time! Also around transportation, scooters and hikes the hosts are always there to help!
Kadek is the nicest person in the world! Whatever how place is looks, only because of the host I wanna come back!
We stayed some days in one of the villas and it has been fantastic, probably our best stay in Bali. The staff is really kind and it has helped with everything, the breakfast is exceptional and different every day. We’ll come back for sure
I had such an amazing experience with Kadek and Putu! They were AMAZING hosts!!! Kadek helped set up transportation to and from the airport which was super helpful. Our room was cleaned daily and they always ensured that we have everything that we need. The location of the Tree house is phenomenal! It’s secluded in a quiet clean area. You wake up to the sounds of many birds and it’s really just magical. The pool is very clean and is cleaned daily. I would recommend anyone to stay here as i my self would be more than happy to come here again.
We stayed for 2 days and it was great. The host Kadek and Putuh is very welcoming. The are is very calm and peacefull. You get access to a pool. You can rent scooter or cab with help from Kadek at reasonable price. We lived roaming around the area, it is very beautiful.
The property was amazing. Beautiful and well kept. Well maintained and clean pool. We did not have the chance to try their breakfast as we had to leave early both mornings. Request an early breakfast if you plan to leave the property before 8/9. It wasn't an issue for us but you can't access the property directly if you are going with a car. Loved the outdoor shower. The staff are incredibly friendly and will go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. We will be back.
We enjoyed our stay very much! The property is well maintained and quiet. The perfect place to relax and unwind. Kadek was an absolutely amazing host and helped us whenever we needed assistance. Transportation to and from the airport can easily be organized, but also a grab or taxi driver will find the place. Just help them with a few more information (you will receive them in advance, don't worry.) Also, we forgot our Bluetooth speaker at the bungalow and Kadek was kind enough to send it to Jakarta for us! We appreciate all your care and friendliness very much. Thank you so much! Antje & Ihksan

A realy lovely place with many flowers, good breakfast, quiet at night and many good warungs near by. Optional massage service directly in the homestay.
I lived in the single tree house during my stay. Kadek was a super friendly and attentive and above all a helpful host. I felt very comfortable. The location is a little outside of Ubud center, but can be reached very quickly with a scooter. On the other hand you experience peace right there. In the evening you can always hear frogs and ducks. A paradise for me. I would like to go there again. Absolutely. Very recommendable.

Kadek is an amazing chef with a lovely family and a welcoming heart. I loved my little joglo and the breakfasts were so delicious. Amazing hospitality. A bit chilly at night so ask for an extra blanket unless you are used to sleeping cold.

We stayed in the little Jepun Jonglo at the very back. A quiet private space that is authentic Javanese! Open to the wildness that is Ubuds rice paddies and jungle, it was cool and breezy. Just perfect for our much needed rest. Perfectly located within 2 minutes walk of good food and local massage.
Die Unterkunft bei Penelope ist der Wahnsinn! Es ist super schön hier und ein toller Ort um komplett abzuschalten. Dennoch ist man innerhalb von 15-20 Minuten direkt ins Zentrum von Ubud gelaufen. Wir haben uns bei Penelope sofort wohl gefühlt und kommen sehr gerne wieder.
Penelope has an amazing property with a beautifully maintained garden. The traditional joglo we stayed in is just perfect with a small balcony and an outdoor bathroom and has nicely carved decor everywhere. Penelope and Wayne are really nice people and Kadek, the caretaker who lives on the property with his family is an outstandingly good host who is always available, friendly and greets you with a smile everytime he sees you. There is not a single thing we could criticise, we felt totally at ease and very well taken care of - if we come back to ubud, we would without a doubt stay there again.

Really enjoyed our stay at the joglo in the paddy fields. Breakfast in the garden, lots of wildlife and helpful hosts. It's in a village bordering main Ubud centre, so you can walk into Ubud or a quick bike, but there is everything you need nearby from beautiful cafés, restaurants, yoga/meditation spots, spas within 10-15 min walk. Plus its just nice to wonder along through a paddy field walkways!
Cet endroit est incroyable. Petite cabane perdue dans une magnifique jardin. Un vrai paradis avec une piscine magnifique. Les hôtes sont pleins d attention et le petit déjeuner est inoubliable. Merci !!

Extraordinary place to stay with wonderful jungle-garden and a nice clean pool. You have to walk 5 min to get there, but it’s totally worth it and way more silent. Everybody was really nice and helpful to us. If u want to have some nice food, not to far away, just go to Paddy’s Point! Great curry and beef!!! Penelope was delightful and helped us a lot. She helped me to find a good doctor when I got bit by a monkey. Every time we asked her for something she had some nice recommendations. It felt like visiting your favorite auntie, so I can really recommend this place!!! Go there!!!
The Joglo was a beautiful base to relax on the balcony and walking distance to everything we needed - yoga classes at Intuitive Flow and lots of food options - Yellow Flower and Moksa were particular favourites in addition to incredible breakfasts enjoyed during our stay! Penelope was also very helpful with local tips and great communication, Kadek and family were forever smiling and the loveliest people also.
This place is truly a special spot! The gardens were created by an teacher/ artist and there’s a little gazebo/ tea house spot where we received our breakfast and coffee each morning. It was like staying in a tiny botanical garden compound. The breakfast food was made with care, art and love and it was spectacular! Each day they prepared a different unique creation. The menu is vegan plant based and we never even noticed because it was so yummy! Kadek is a wonderful, sweet, kind person and every interaction and word spoken with him brought us joy. The joglo (a style of architecture imported from Java) was small, but full of magic and built on a raised level with a glorious little deck and many spots to rest and take in the wonderful gardens. The bathroom is outside, but a balcony style, so you’re not walking anywhere... every time it rains, there is some natural debris that falls, but it is cleaned everyday and is easy enough to spray with the shower if it bugs you. There is only a curtain between the room and the bathroom, so some people might have an issue with that- we didn’t! The pool was super refreshing and private and elegantly placed within the gardens. We dipped in the cool water every day before heading to town. Penny is a delight. We are actually going on a jungle walk and to visit with her dear friend tomorrow, despite having checked out already! Our only regret was booking another place in the area thinking our slice of heaven wouldn’t be available. We will be back in a few weeks to end our Bali trip here! It is the BeST place to land- you’ll want a motorbike!
We stayed a few nights in the hut and it was wonderful. In the middle of the rice fields and jungle, private concerts of crickets and gekko’s. A nice pool to cool off at the end of the day. Really nice place to relax, get away from the busyness and be in nature. Walking distance to the main streets for restaurants, bars and supermarket. Would recommend staying there for the real Bali life

Staying here is a great option if you want to stay away from the busyness Ubud has on offer. The staff was wonderful, very helpful with renting a scooter to get around and the vegan breakfast was the best!
The Joglo is a fantastic little place to stay, and certainly memorable! Wayne and Penelope are both really friendly and go out of their way to make your stay special, offering experiences (like the amazing jungle walk / forage) and helping organise anything else you need. Kadek is fantastic, cooking delicious breakfasts and will go out of his way to ensure that you are comfortable during your stay (even if it is 23:30 and you mistake the harmless Joglo gecko for another creature). Overall an amazing Airbnb!
Best hosts ever! Unforgettable hiking & foraging with locals to collect fruit and flowers. Snakeskin fruit, cocoa, berries, they scaled a coconut tree barefoot so we could try the local way, with salt and chilli. Local robusta and arabica coffee beans, made rice whistles. I nearly forgot the passion fruit! Oh, and freshly cooked palm sugar harvested by scaling by a “big toe” only bamboo ladder. The guide Alit’s family then cooked so many of the collected vegetables, ~8 dishes like young fern, banana flowers and taro for lunch.
The grounds are magical! We had such a lovely time here. It was peaceful, clean and located in the best spot. Breakfast on the balcony was such a lovely and delicious touch. We also appreciate Penelope and Wayne’s advice for restaurants and offering to help set up activities for us while we visited. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!
This treasure is tucked away from the busy, noisey streets of Bali, in Penestanan, a small Balinese artists village where there is plenty of stores, restaurants, taxi and motorbikes for hire. There is a peaceful 40 minute walk to Ubud, rice field walks, and walks across bridges that overlook beautiful ravines. Staying here gives you insights into the real Bali, the less commercial Bali.
Firefly is a lovely place; a quiet green haven away from the motor scooters! We enjoyed the 30-40 minute walk to the main street and were glad to leave the hustle and bustle and return to the chirrup of frogs and the lush greenery. A very comfortable raised hut tucked away in the garden with a comfy bed, toilet and shower, kettle and cups and an interesting assortment of books. From our cute deck with table and 2 comfy chairs we could look over a garden to the swimming pool. Good breakfasts in the pagoda with fish swimming below. Tranquil. Wayne and Penny were wonderfully friendly, helpful and empathetic. We had a delightful evening with them. We wholeheartedly recommend them and their lovely place.
We had to cancel our booking so didnt stay here, Penelope was very quick at responses and did everything she could to help us with our trip before we cancelled.
As a solo female traveller, I found this place to be an absolute gem! This place is absolutely amazing. Roughly a 20-30min walk away from Ubud Central, which you will barely even notice because the views to and from are breathtaking. The service provided was amazing! Kadek made THE BEST breakfast each morning and he and his family are such beautiful souls. If you want to experience less touristy activities just let Kadek know and he’ll try and arrange something cool and interesting. The room is cleaned daily and there is a lockable cupboard for your valuables and plenty of storage space. Internet/wifi is also available 24/7, reasonable speed. This place is literally in the middle of rice fields and you’ll be one with nature. Beautiful wildlife such as colourful birds and even squirrels are occasional visitors and can be easily spotted from the balcony. The pool is always perfect after a long day of adventure. There are plenty of cheap and delicious local warung’s around the corner and within walkable distance so you will never go hungry. The local villagers are so sweet as well. I felt very safe walking around at night alone as a solo female traveller. There is a yoga studio down the path as well so if you’re in to that I highly recommend staying here as it’s very conveniently close by. I cannot recommend this place enough!

My daughter and I stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. Everything is even more beautiful than in the pictures. The garden is amazing and the space is really private. The pool is great for cooling off. Kadek is an incredible host and made us super yummy vegan breakfasts and made our bed and left us flowers every day. The location is ideal as it is far away from the noise of Ubud and close to a beautiful walk through the rice fields. Kadek helped us rent bicycles to get around Penestanan. We hired Wayan a couple of times to take us on day trips around the island which I highly recommend. Wayne is delightful to talk with. We would have stayed here our whole trip if it had been available.
Had an amazing stay! Kadek is great and made me fresh lemon grass tee every morning! It's just the best and fresh from their garden! Breakfast is very good! The place is tranquil and love all the green vegetation around. Would highly recommend to go for a massage and a cultural experience with Dewa, witch the team at Fire Fly can arrange for you! Thanks for a great stay and all the tips!
Φοβερή διαμονή,το σπίτι εκπληκτικό,η τοποθεσία τέλεια...το.πρωινο με τα φρούτα φοβερό... Η Πηνελόπη μαζί με τον Kadec μας βοήθησαν και μας πρότειναν πολλά πράγματα να κάνουμε..... Οι προτάσεις για να περάσουμε χρόνο με τους ντόπιους στη ζούγκλα και να φάμε στα σπίτια τους ήταν εξαιρετική.... Την προτείνω τη διαμονή εκεί ανεπιφύλακτα.... Ευχαριστώ πολύ για όλα... Φοβερή εμπειρία....
Fell in love with Joglo, what a breathtaking place. Beautifully crafted in the midst of paddy fields, this place is the closest you will get to nature and peace. Enjoy a vegan breakfast and head out for yummy Balinese/& other delicacies right outside - Paddy's point was our favourite. Special mention to Penny, Kedak and his family for being so courteous and helpful. Loved the experience overall, will definitely visit again. :D
Lovely location, tree house is within the most beautiful jungle garden, with a stunning pool set right in it. There’s definitely a bit of wildlife around the house (ie geckos) so you feel fully in the trees! It’s perfect for a couple who want some space from the hustle of the main city, but it’s close enough to walk around/get transport to if needed! Penelope was so quick to answer and questions & messages and offered local suggestions. Breakfast is lovely and kadek working with Penelope’s staff is so kind and made us feel welcomed! 12 out of 10 would recommend!
Beautiful setting in a wonderfully secluded location. Manicured gardens. Wonderful vegan breakfast, especially the porridge. Kadek + family, Wayne and Penny all incredibly warm and hospitable. Lovely little room which feels like a treehouse. Great shower and spotlessly clean.
Firefly was hands-down the best Airbnb I've stayed at. Penny, Wayne, Kadek and everyone there are wonderful people. The breakfast was yummy, and I appreciated the vegan vibes, but even non vegans will be impressed with the food. It was private but a 30 minute walk or quick taxi into Ubud center. I walk a lot so I enjoyed it. It feels like you are in the jungle at night. I highly recommend getting Wayan to drive around to see some sites. He's really friendly, reasonably priced, and knowledgeable about every spot on the island. Take a trip to White Sands Beach- it was one of the most beautiful beaches I've been to! Thanks, Penny and Wayne for a wonderful stay in Bali.
Das Joglo im Firefly ist so einzigartig im grünen üppigen Garten mit Blick auf den herrlichen Pool. Mussestunden auf dem Balkon, herrlich geschlafen zum Quaken der Frösche in den nahen Reisfeldern. Die Anlage hat stimmungsvolle Plätze zum Sein. Die Gastgeber sind ausserordentlich hilfsbereit. Die Ausflugsangebote sind unbedingt empfehlenswert. Der Warung Paddy point wenige Meter entfernt war unser Lieblingsrestaurant!! Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.
Our bungalow aka Baby Bear, was so charming with its Balinese style woodwork and touches! My husband and I were welcomed by our host Wayne who offered great recommendations on local restaurants and activities to try out in the area. Paddy’s Point was our favorite! The food was so fresh and delicious and conveniently located right outside of Firefly (you could also have the food delivered to your room!). I cannot complete this review without mentioning the wonderful breakfast that Kadek brought to us every morning with such kindness. We will not forget the service that we were provided here by Penelope, Wayne, and Kadek and recommend it highly to anyone that is looking for a unique experience in Ubud.
Where do I even begin with this incredible little piece of heaven on earth. When you first arrive you actually have to park about a quarter-mile away and walk back to the resort but even the walk back there was absolutely breathtaking. You’re walking through beautiful rice fields, amazing villas and several local restaurants. As soon as you walk through the front gate you can immediately feel all tension and stress slide off your shoulders. It’s like walking through a tropical jungle that’s been made just for you. We felt absolutely spoiled rotten when we got back to the Bungalo that we stayed in, not only was the Bungalo self beautiful with a cozy bed beautiful outdoor shower and the most perfect little outdoor patio with chairs to enjoy the scenery but also we had our own private swimming pool which was absolutely incredible to jump in to first thing in the morning or after we got back from a long hot day playing in the beautiful city of Ubud. We walked to city center once or twice but it’s a little bit of a hike it takes about 45 minutes on foot but it is really easy to catch a cab and it’s only about a five minute cab ride into town so that’s what we did most of the time. It was not inconvenient at all giving to all the places we wanted to see and it was an absolute blessing to be able to come back and enjoy this little piece of paradise after a long day of walking around. I haven’t even gotten to how incredible the hosts were. From the time we got there they were absolutely the friendliest people and took care of everything we needed and went above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met. Penny and her partner were an absolute riot and we loved getting to know them and talk to them. I had a lovely time staying at Bali Firefly. Penny, Wayne, Kadek and his family are warm, generous and attentive hosts. The surrounding garden is beautiful and a welcome respite from bustle of central Ubud. The BnB is close to many wonderful cafes and restaurants, including the delicious Ubud Raw Chocolate factory which is well worth a visit. Highly Recommended!

This is a great little place and I would highly recommend it. The grounds are wonderful and well kept by the gardener. Kadek the housekeeper is very friendly and helpful and made a wonderful breakfast. This property is in walking distance to the main town but allows you to get away for the business of the centre and has a very relaxing atmosphere and refreshing pool. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Penelope et Wayne sont tres sympathiques et attentionnés. Ils font de leur mieux pour que leurs hôtes passent un bon sejour. L'endroit est superbe et reposant avec son magnifique jardin et la piscine tres agréable. Le personnel est tres gentil et les petits dejeuners delicieux! Nous gardons un super souvenir de cet endroit que nous recommandons!
Five doesn't seem like enough stars for this place. Even before we arrived Wayne and Penelope helped arrange our transport to their beautiful home. Even though our plane was super delayed and late at night, the driver they arranged was waiting in high spirits to greet us. We looked forward to our vegan breakfast every morning because it was AMAZING! Honestly, it was one of the best meals we had in Bali and enjoying it in the peaceful gazebo was beyond words. Wayne had great suggestions for dinner and he set us up with a tour guide who gave us a custom and private tour of temples, rice fields and coffee fields. To top it all off, the room was so unique and tucked in between lush flowers, bush and a rice field. Though it was small it was so cozy and clean with an outdoor bathroom, raised deck, hammock and pool view. If you are booking a trip to Ubud, stop looking and book here. I also suggest extending your stay. We stayed for 2.5 days and wished we had stayed for weeks.
Penestanan is like what I hoped Ubud would be. The area and the grounds of this property are incredibly tranquil. The breakfast is as good as a top vegan restaurant. Kadek and his family are lovely hosts and Wayne and Penelope are incredibly welcoming and have a wealth of knowledge for you to exploit. Just please stay for longer so you can really reap the benefits! Four days for me was no way near long enough. I hope to return.
Nous avons passé 3 nuits chez Wayne, parfait pour séjourner tout près du centre d'Ubud en étant totalement au calme, dans un jardin bien sympathique ! Kadek est vraiment super, très arrangeant et nous a conseillé des balades superbes ! Le mieux est de prévoir un scooter pour circuler facilement entre le Joglo et le centre d'Ubud. Merci !!!
Sehr schöne Anlage im Dschungel! Abseits des Trubels, dennoch ist man schnell im Zentrum! Haben die besten pancakes ever gegessen! Sehr lecker! Man kann auch gut am Pool bei traumhafter Kulisse relaxen, sehr zu empfehlen!!!
Fantastic house, lush tropical garden, perfect pool. Very laid back host. Caretaker was great and made wonderful vegan breakfasts. (We aren't vegan so we were a little apprehensive at first, but it was wonderful!). Great little eateries all around. It was so peaceful to fall asleep to falling water and nature sounds every night. We would do it all again in a heartbeat. Our only regret was not staying longer. And thanks to Wayne for finding us a driver.

A group of us stayed in two of the bungalows on the property. It is an absolute oasis in the busy Ubud area of Bali and the beautiful and charming bungalows are in the middle of rice paddies, surrounded by a lovely garden and a swimming pool (which we had for ourselves while we were there). Perfect location - close the centre but far enough away to be completely serene and peaceful. I loved my little elevated cottage (like a treehouse!). A perfect stay! Wayne was a great host and him & Kadek went above and beyond with so many little things to make our stay special. We only wished we could have stayed a month! We will definitely be back :-)
Our stay was very pleasant and although we didn't meet Wayne his suggestions were precious! The jungle trip was also great! Definitely go back here if in Ubid

We had a great time at Penny's and Wayne's BnB. It's a bit outside of ubud what is perfect because ubud can be crazy crowded and loud and at penny's and Wayne's you have the perfect place to relax and listen to crickets and frogs instead of motorbikes. Kadek is a really nice and lovely and surprises with really great breakfast every morning. You should also do the jungle trip and cooking class she organizes for you. It is a unique experience you won't find anywhere else! Thank you for everything!
The property is beautiful, surrounded by tropical gardens, nestled between rice fields. Kedak delighted us each morning with a delicious Indonesian breakfast served in the lovely Balinese pagoda set in the pond and for dinner there are several very good restaurants within a short walk. Penny offers a trip into one of the villages where you will walk through rice fields and farms foraging with a couple of local guides, enjoying hand picked coconuts and fruits along the way. Lunch is prepared by Yoga and his wife on your return...this is a fabulous trip well worth the small cost which goes back to the local community. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
This place is where you want to be when you go to Bali: surrounded by a breath-taking garden full with flowers and palmtrees, and a swimmingpool (which we had for ourselves while we were there) Still close enough to the busy centre of ubud and countless tempels and ricefields. The host, Kadek, is a humble and friendly guy who makes amazing healthy breakfasts. The house is tiny but a piece of art, and has everything you need. We will definitely go back when we ga back to Bali again!
Notre avons beaucoup apprécié séjourner dans ce magnifique Joglo, plein de charme et de cachet. Le Joglo était propre, le lit était refait chaque jour et les sanitaires et la douche nettoyés quotidiennement. Chaque matin Kadek nous apportait un magnifique déjeuner avec des fruits , du café et divers pudding. Le lieu en pleine verdure était magnifique, calme et reposant, avec comme seul bruit, l'eau et la nature. L'accueil par Penelope et Wayne est irréprochable. Ils ont su nous conseillé pour nos diverses activités, visites et nous ont organisé une voiture pour une journée afin d'aller voir un temple et aller dans la jungle. Nous recommandons vivement cette place, afin de vivre cette expérience unique de dormir dans ce joglo.
We have had the most wonderful few days here, and only wish that we could have stayed longer! Penny was absolutely brilliant and really went above and beyond to organise activities and help us. She has a huge wealth of knowledge and our time in ubud certainly wouldn't have been as memorable without her help. We went on the most incredible jungle walk, cooking class and met such wonderful people. Kedek was so lovely and made the most delicious breakfasts. The joglo was great, although it did get very hot because of there being no air conditioning. Altogether a very exciting, memorable and cultural experience that I would certainly recommend and I give my heartfelt thanks to Penny, Wayne and Kedek.
What a wonderful place to stay!! Truly a piece of heaven!! The location was great for being in Ubud because you are away from the busyness of the city but only a quick walk or scooter ride from being from temples, the market, restaurants, the Campuhan Ridge, and much more! She helped me arrange massages, wonderful places to eat, hidden trails, walks through rice fields and jungle, and taking just me on private walks. Every morning I was served the BEST breakfast! Fresh fruit and coffee or tea along with something different everyday! From banana pancakes to rice porridge! So good! She even arranged for me to be picked up from the airport at midnight! She is the best host ever!! She made me feel at home and my trip was 10 times better than expected because of her! I cannot wait to go back, and I will!!!

Had an amazing 3 nights stay at Firefly B+B. Penny and Wayne were so helpful and arranged for us to be collected from Kuta. They also recommended a cooking class and jungle walk with locals which were fantastic and off the beaten track experiences. Accommodation itself was wonderful - gorgeous gardens and Kadek was always so friendly and helpful. 20 minute walk to Ubud centre - worth the stroll to be staying amongst the rice fields away from the busy centre. Would recommend a stay here anytime!

I stayed here only for one night but had a great experience. Penelope and Wayne are generous hosts and their place is tucked away at the end of a small street and away from the hustle of major roads. The villa is serene and well kept. I had plans to stay more days but had a last minute change in plans. Try were able to get me out earlier with no hassle. If I make it out to Ubud again, I will be looking into staying with them a second time.
Joglo Jepun was absolutely beautiful. We loved staying here. Our only regret was not staying longer. Kadek makes excellent food and is as hospitable as people come. We were very happy with everything. Just a heads up, Google maps will try to take you through a private villa with their walking directions. Just go around the block and you'll get there. Well worth it. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
We had a wonderful stay at the Joglo Jepun bungalow at the Firefly BnB. Penny was a great host who helped us have an incredible experience in Ubud, with memories to last a lifetime. Kadek and his family were also amazing, very friendly and attentive, and made the most amazing breakfasts. We miss our little place in the jungle already, and can't wait to return!
To say our stay at Fire Fly was delightful is an understatement. Before our arrival Penny arranged for a driver to collect us at DPS (this is recommended). Upon our arrival at the Joglo we were introduced to the staff and welcomed like family. Penny and Wayne provided invaluable advice and assistance with suggesting activities based ob our interests and scheduling events as needed. They were accessible and available and welcomed all our questions. Kadek went abive and beyond to make sure the Joglo was always maintained and provided a delicious and healthy breakfast every morning. The Joglo was a magical retreat located in the amazingly serene and quiet rice fields of Penestanan. Leaving the doors and windows open allowed for gentle breezes and the sounds of nature to pass through. Also, Penestanan is only a 15-20 minute walk from Ubud, and we felt it was a more peaceful stay than the tourist bustle of Ubud. We dedinitely recommend to anyone planning travels to the Ubud area!
This is a beautiful property nestled by the rice field, yet also in the heart of Ubud. Penny and her team went above and beyond to make sure my stay was totally hassle free. I recommend this place to anyone looking to both explore the bustle of Ubud and retreat in solitude. Ps: the vegan breakfast and coffee are top notch! I'll be back!
Staying with Penelope and Wayne was fantasic! Their personal involvement and interest in their guests is fenomenal. Great location if you want peace and quietness in a beautiful tropical garden environment. The rice fields are just on the doorstep of the establishment for your morning walk. And Kadek is one of the most humble hosts I have ever met. (And he makes awesome breakfasts:). True passion for hospitality. Would recommend it to anyone. Just make sure you have a scooter or other type of transport to get around as it is not in the city center.
This little jungle hut is a really good way to stay in ubud! It's really quiet and far enough from town to feel secluded yet close enough to be in the town center within 10 minutes by scooter. Kedek is taking care of you marvelously and is a super kind guy. Would definitely recommend.
