Exploring Ki Ma Ya Retreat, Zen Sanctuary left me utterly unimpressed. This presentation felt like a flashy waste of time: all clicking and spinning, with none of the straightforward clarity I wanted. Zero stars for this browsing experience.

The virtual preview of Ki Ma Ya Retreat, Zen Sanctuary was maddening. I wanted a simple overview for my Ubud plans, but the whole experience felt overcomplicated and exhausting. I would rather close the tab than wrestle with another scene.

I found the tour for Ki Ma Ya Retreat, Zen Sanctuary painfully tedious. The presentation tries far too hard to impress, and for me it falls completely flat. More spectacle than useful browsing; absolutely not my idea of a helpful preview.

If you are looking for a rustic villa straight out of an Indiana Jones mover over looking the Forrest then this is the place for you . Breakfasts were very tasty with a nice selection But the whole stay went horribly wrong when my wife slipped down the stairs and badly injured her arm . This was an accident and as it was no longer safe for her to stay there we paid to move to another property. Turns out The villa owner is a Russian gentleman ( all along we had dealt with Devi) and although he re sold 3 of our 4 remaining nights he chose to only refund us for 2 night , citing marketing fees and his time as well as claiming we had broken a chair which was not true . This has had to be escalated at air bnb to try and get fairer compensation What is truly sad is not once since we said goodbye to him on day 2 of our stay did he follow up to enquire as to my wife’s health

Our honest Pros and Cons from our honeymoon stay here: Pros -owner and his partner where very sweet and nice. They ordered dinner for us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the house. The also had flowers and incenses setup in the house for us. -you do feel like you are staying in a temple, the house and details are rustic, raw and beautiful. -although you are in a village you don't really see your neighbors and the back of the house faces the jungle, so there is privacy. -they had a very cool projector movie screen with a good selection of dvds. they also had a good selection of cds, spiritual books and yoga mats to use. Also an outdoor sauna that was a nice addition. -house was outside town but only 15min scooter drive -the owners were able to arrange a driver to take us to and from airport. Nice service! Cons -Many normal kitchen items for rental places were not available here, there were no dish towels or paper towels to dry hands, dishes or clean up messes. There were no pot holders for metal pans. no bottle openers, pasta or tea strainers, no ziplock bags or storage containers so most food items we bought went bad quick or stale. -EVERY morning starting at 5am till noon, we were woken up by extremely loud roosters & construction. It was so bad we needed to ask the owner for ear plugs, which helped but we still heard the noise. it was hard for us to find a quite peaceful moment. -The entire place is open to the outside including the bedroom and bathroom, so while beautiful, we got devoured by bugs. It was also very bright at night so we had to sleep w/sleeping mask. It was cold in the shower as it was all open air especially at night when temperature dropped, which was unpleasant. And if you are a female it made shaving difficult due to goose bumps. -The big outdoor tub was beautiful however there was not enough hot water to fill it up. -Usually when we stay places they have an information book, that gives you recommend places to eat, see, instructions on how everything works in the house, maps, directions, important phone numbers and there was none here. The owner was willing to provide these things by emailing him but we like our privacy and did not want to have to check in with him every time we had a question. So we ended up researching ourselves or just not using certain things.

I must admit, my girlfriend and I were slightly hesitant at first to steer away from our usual 5-star hotel experiences, but our stay at your beautiful Airbnb property has not only met but far exceeded our every expectation. We are utterly overwhelmed by this extraordinary experience and are only regretful that we didn't book a longer stay. Here's what left us mesmerized: 1. The House Itself: The architecture and design of the house is nothing short of breathtaking. Every room is well thought out, blending comfort and style with a touch of luxury. Your attention to detail is remarkable, and we found ourselves constantly discovering new charming aspects of the house. 2. The Jungle Experience including the yoga lessons: The location amidst the lush greenery provided us with a genuine and unique jungle experience. The sounds of nature and the beautiful scenery were soothing to the soul, giving us a much-needed break from our busy lives.

Dewi's house is just beautiful, very special, clean and cosy. We did not meet her in person, but Dewa takes amazing care of the guests. He helps you with drivers, ordering food or massages to the house and everything else. If you have a light sleep, this location is very challenging because there are so many roosters around and they start screaming at 4:30 in the morning. Bring some earplugs if you wanna have a relaxing sleep!

Breathtaking location and great hospitality

Dewi's home is an absolute gem and even more breathtaking in person. You will love the details and the decor it's truly beautiful. The pictures really don't do it justice. We were a little unlucky with the weather but enjoyed the home just as much in the rain, with a lovely yoga practice with Christel and two amazing massages. This villa is not very close to ubud and we did not opt to use the scooters because we didn't feel confident enough to drive 15-20 minutes. However, Dewa the manager is amazing and organized transportation as well as anything else we needed within minutes. He was always on standby and ready to help us and you should not be shy to ask. Even though the villa feels pretty remote, I will honestly say that there are Neighbors which you can hear in the evenings and that we didn't sleep much during our stay with the roosters (yes multiple) waking us up at 4:45am every morning and not stopping until later in the morning. There is also a local temple right up the street and there was a ceremony going on for two of the days which went until the early morning hours including loud music and chanting. I recommend you ask Dewi about local events before booking. In terms of service, again Dewa was amazing and organized massages for us which were fabulous as well as dinner when we wanted to eat in and yoga with Christel (highly recommend). He also went out of his way to organize a cooking class at Moksa which we loved. To us it was not clear that breakfast (yummy smoothie bowls, granola and fruit) as well as water were provided so we bought these items, however there is no need to do so it was all delicious!

This is one of the most beautiful homes that I have stayed in. The wood, the view of the jungle, the moss-covered stone shrines. The sauna and salt pool are amazing too. It was just stunning, and also refreshing to stay in a Balinese style villa with a warm, ancient feel (there are so many western inspired villas elsewhere on the island). Aesthetically this home is hard to match, but I am sorry to say that my wife and I felt it disappointed, and frankly frustrated, with several important parts of our stay. To begin with, it simply isn't the silent and secluded retreat described in the advertisement. Approximately 20 meters from the pool is a villa or hotel where you can hear people talking and music playing. The same is true for the other side of the house, which has a villa or hotel close enough to where you can hear music on that side as well. Also, at night the sound of frogs, bugs, and chickens in the morning is so loud it makes it difficult to get a good nights rest. And its not a low, calming buzz from the jungle. It was actually so loud we had to get earplugs. The posting for this airbnb advertises available yoga lessons, chi gong breathing exersize, Osho meditations, Shiatsu massage, deep tissue massage, raw desserts cooking class, and local food cooking class. While the host was able to organize massages at the house, they did not provide any of the other activities though we requested them. The host said she would get back to us and never did. This was very disappointing because this was a strong motivating factor in choosing this airbnb. Transportation is not easily available if you want to go to Ubud center. The house is about 10 minutes drive from Ubud center, so you can't walk there. The house attendant was able to occasionally organize transportation, but most of the time he didn't respond to our whatsapp messages. We ended up renting a scooter, so it worked out in the end, but they need to improve on this. All of the other airbnbs we had were much more helpful in this respect. Security is not sufficient. They have a guard at night, but he doesn't lock the gate and he just watches t.v. and doesn't seem to pay attention to his surroundings. Also, there is a lock on the bedroom, but nowhere else - as the pictures show, it is all very open. There is no lock on the door to the house and the gate was not locked by anyone during the day. That means your things cannot be left out of your bedroom (not in the living room, meditation room, near the pool). It was frustrating because when we went out during the day, we were nervous about our things. I should emphasize that this place is absolutely stunning; I hope everyone has the blessing of staying in such a breathtaking place. However,...

A simply amazing experience, the house and its surroundings are even better than on the pictures

Dewi and Maitreya and their space are lovely! The house is truly beautiful. The temple-like design and features- incredible!

Only minutes from Ubud and an exquisitely appointed dweĺing. You are still in Bali with all of its sights and sounds and smells but the magnificent views and wholesome service make it an unforgettable part of our adventure! We chose the option to be catered for inhouse and after eating duck around the world, found the most juicy, flaversome (half steamed half barbecued) duck we think we have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Be prepared for nature to come to you. We left feeling like creativity of architecture and nature combined in this place.

Dewi and her husband were unbelievable hosts, absolutely made our stay as we fell ill and they went out of their way to look after and help us! The villa itself is absolutely beautiful with a striking backdrop of forests. The villa is quite private, only one neighbour of note in the distance. The pictures do not do justice to quite how beautiful the venue is. The bedroom does not have air conditioning, however it remains very mild there. Surprisingly very few insects despite what I had been told about Ubud. When we were there (August, rainy season) we were kept up at night by very loud frogs surrounding the villa - I would recommend ear plugs unless you're comfortable with noise at night. Aside from that, it was perfect for a romantic trip with your partner.

Ki Ma Ya is located in a beautiful quaint neighborhood in Ubud. As a design enthusiast I was excited to experience indoor / outdoor living in a place such as this. The home is truly beautiful and well appointed. However as many reviews have previously stated please be aware that this is truly an open concept of living and you are fairly one with nature. Maitreya and Dewi were extremely responsive and assisted us in any way we required. They arranged motor scooters and bicycle rentals as well as breakfast every morning. This was the perfect location for exploring the rice fields of Ubud and also easy to get into town. I love to truly experience culture authentically and live among the locals when I travel. This location is perfect for such an adventure. This is truly a unique experience that nature & design lovers will truly enjoy. I'm sure I will return in the future. Malik

Imagine living in the set of Tomb Raider. This is what this place feels like to us. An incredible space full of little gems in each corner (one imagines how epic of a hide and seek competition it would be here) Surrounded by nature, built upon the cliff side with the valley in front & the mountains as your back drop. Every view from the property is spectacular. My wife loved the Koi pond & the beautiful fish residents (the yellow one is her favourite) The pool was beautiful. The Sauna refreshing. Just be careful of the edges on the decking, there are a lot of steep drops. Bathroom floors can be super slippery when wet. And would be good if there was a step in & out of the pool. But besides that, an incredible stay.

This is one of the best places we have ever been. It’s a paradise. An oasis of tranquility, in the middle of the jungle, a very private feeling. It is incredible that they were able to create something so beautiful 🪷

Pictures of this villa cannot do the justice of the beauty of this place. It felt like out of the world. The care and love of the host for this place can be seen and felt by how they kept it. We were late for the checkin but the host was kind enough and waited for us and gave us the tour of the place once we arrived. Breakfast is included in this stay which was so yummy and no one can match their fresh juices. We stayed for 2 nights but it was not enough to enjoy the whole place. Host was responsive and helpful. Staff helped us with the laguage. The only downside was we never got the hot water for showers.

Truly beautiful, comfortable and magical place. An absolute joy to stay here, with plenty of nice food options within walking distance. While the place feels incredibly peaceful, my only suggestion to other visitors would be to have good earplugs to sleep with as the frogs can be loud at night, as well as the roosters early in the morning.

Photos don't describe how wonderful Dewi's place is (but some are attached to try). Such a lovely place to relax with beautiful views of nature. The breakfast was also delicious with much variety.

At some point during your stay, after a swim in the large, immaculately clean pool, a sauna session, sunset on the deck, or waking in the traditional style bedroom and peeling back the bed canopy, your heart opens and you feel you have arrived. Maitreya and Dewi’s villa is stunning and practical in every way: peaceful North Ubud location, lush well tended garden, fresh tropical flowers in every room, open living room, kitchen and deck, plus a private bedroom deck with jungle views and a Balinese day bed for reading. The pool is deep enough for real swimming, and the kitchen has a large wood table for dining or working. I loved the yoga shala, outdoor shower, stone bath, copper cold bath, wood sauna, koi pond, warm lighting, great speakers, and second bedroom with twin canopies. Breakfast was fresh and generous with cold pressed juice, tea or coffee included. Nearby, The IN Movement Yoga by Paul and Leah is excellent. Dewi and the team were thoughtful, easy to reach and gave privacy.

The other reviews are 100% accurate. This is the best Airbnb of all time. The photos and descriptions don’t even come close to the reality of this place. It’s huge, immersed in peaceful nature, and extremely comfortable. The included breakfast every morning was great (get the smoothie bowl) and the rooms were cleaned daily. It’s perfect for a family, or for a group of friends. The included sauna and pool was an amazing touch. This is truly the best that ubud has to offer!

Unfortunately... the place was much BETTER than our expectations and the pictures on the listing. Dewi's place is absolutely incredible and a pure piece of paradise. I will return as soon as I have a chance to be back in Ubud. There isn't a suggestion for improvement. From the cleanliness, host sympathy, the scenery, ect... everything was outstanding!

We were so grateful to have the chance to spend two nights in this sacred place. Dui was an amazing host — she recommended a beautiful temple where we experienced an incredible ceremony. She gave us such great local recommendations, and she even let us try fresh soursop juice, which was absolutely mind-blowing. The massage therapists were also absolutely incredible. We had massages right at the villa, and it was such an amazing experience. We also did a sound healing session with her husband, yoga classes, guided meditation, a sauna, and a cold plunge — honestly, everything was next level and done with so much care and authenticity. This place truly feels magical and peaceful. It was one of the most special experiences of our trip, and honestly, it’s an absolute must-visit. We would come back without hesitation.

Magical stay at this incredible place. The photos do not do it justice. It is an oasis nestled in the lush hills. The breakfasts were incredible. The space had incredible energy. Dewi was a great host, easy to communicate with and helpful with making local recommendations. The yoga space was a dream looking out into the vast green space with volcano views. Easy scooter ride 10-15 mins into central ubud. We will absolutely stay here again when we are back and would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to escape.

This place feels like a dream. Every aspect of the property is stunningly beautiful and thoughtfully designed. The pool gives the feeling of being immersed in the middle of a lush jungle, the living area evokes the atmosphere of an ancient temple, and the spa is absolutely exceptional. The entire experience is unlike anywhere else I’ve stayed. The only point worth mentioning is that the walkways and surfaces throughout the property can become extremely slippery. I personally experienced two falls during my stay, even after being very cautious following the first incident. Because of this, I would not recommend the property for older guests or anyone with mobility or health concerns where falls could pose a greater risk. I would strongly encourage the owners to consider installing discreet anti-slip treads or treatments to improve safety, even if it slightly impacts the aesthetic. Speechless!! I had a truly wonderful stay here it was incredibly peaceful, surrounded by nature that made every moment feel calm and refreshing. The Villa itself was antique and absolutely beautiful, full of character and timeless charm that added so much warmth to the experience. Waking up to the sounds of nature and spending time in such a serene environment was deeply relaxing. It’s the perfect place to disconnect, unwind, and appreciate both natural beauty and classic, well-preserved design.

Dewi was a great host. The place is straight out of movie set. If you love to connect with the nature it is the best place in whole of the ubud, place is better than the photos. Very well maintained considering it is a place with embracing nature with beautiful floating deck for a living room with Koi fish. private pool which is so well maintained and kept clean at any given time. We loved it 😻, property is huge so I would recommend to visit with a group of 4 to enjoy it to its fullest. Amazing amazing. Our humble thanks to Dewi, her partner and their staff they all were amazing. 🤩

Where do I even begin…this place is straight out of a movie scene. The sheer size of the property and the grounds that you have available don’t even come close to what is shown in the photos. Everything at this place is cared for, thought about, and executed perfectly. There is a beautiful fresh water waterfall and pool that is accessed via a trail down into the valley, the view of the volcano and mountains is magical, the view and the sounds of the jungle all give this place a magical vibe that is unmatched. The property is about a 15 minute scooter ride from Ubud center, just enough to get away. Book this place and you won’t regret it.

A TEMPLE FOR THE SOUL ! we came in for 2 days of silent meditation, and this is was the perfect retreat our soul could have asked for. The only downside was the massive construction on the other side of the ridge. But Dewi told us to give it a try because they are not always loud and so we did ! The whole retreat is like a temple, everywhere your eye lands is a slice of green paradise. The living room is breezed through, the hammock is just incredible for lounging, you can do yoga on the deck, under the roof, or in the yoga shala, we felt safe and private for skinny swimming in the pool, the breakfasts are incredible work of art. I bow to the people who designed and planned this place with fengshui and vastu principles. It was just PERFECT! I hope the construction will soon finish, and the place will once again return to deep jungle sounds and evening frog cricketing. In just two days we deeply recharged our souls.

Absolutely gorgeous home in the jungle, exactly what I was looking for in terms of a place of peace to relax and kick it in a very authentic way. Would definitely come back.

We stayed here for three nights during our anniversary week, and the place instantly made an impression. It’s a rustic old mansion, with nearly 90% of the house made of wood. You feel that the moment you walk in. The age, the textures, the details, everything gives it a rare, old-world charm and a very unique vibe you don’t come across often. The house itself is big and spacious, with two well-separated bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen that’s genuinely usable. Breakfasts were delicious and added to the comfort of the stay. What this place really offers is a connection with nature. Trees all around, calm energy, and a slow, peaceful atmosphere. And the pool was the highlight for us. We absolutely loved it and spent as much time there as possible. A beautiful blend of history, nature, and comfort. Perfect for an anniversary escape.

Stunning, magical oasis! The place is very well kept, with charming details. The only thing that bothered us is neighbour’s roosters that were loud at night and disturbed our sleep. Otherwise a great stay!

Easily the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at in my whole life (and I’ve stayed at 60+ Airbnbs in the last 10 years)! Hard to describe how wonderful it is. The hosts arranged transport for us from the airport to the home, set up massages for us in-house, served us wonderful breakfasts each morning. The house has a sauna, cold plunge, outdoor bathtub, swimming pool… it’s like a dream. Cannot recommend highly enough. 10/10

This is a magical place, one of the best if not the best Airbnb home I have ever had. The house is stunningly beautiful and has a special energy, built around a banyan tree overlooking a forest valley. We love the indoor-outdoor spaces which has such an open and peaceful feel. The pool and sauna are divine. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Easily the most beautiful Airbnb I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. Definitely more of an experience than just an Airbnb. I would highly recommend this beautiful villa to anyone trying to get away from the busier tourist areas. As long as nature doesn’t bother you once you enter this villa you don’t want to leave. Also the staff is super friendly and breakfasts were a treat. Might be a slightly longer drive to the downtown area of ubud but it is definitely worth it for the peace and seclusion. There are also some beautiful restaurants/cafes/spas within a 5-10 minute walk.

Wow! What a place to stay. Beautiful place to get away from the noise in Ubud, waking up in nature and listening to the animals. One of the most unique and special spaces. Dewi is really helpful and the breakfast was delicious!!

Couldn’t fault this villa at all, the pictures do not do this justice. Rustic, traditional while having all modern amenities. Stunning outlook from every view point including sunset in the evenings. We're very used to city living and felt nervous being in the jungle, however, we got used to all the acoustics of the different animals and felt deeply relaxed within a few days. Excellent location for walks with some great restaurants nearby, while still being in a short cab ride from down town ubud. Dewi is excellent host, great communication and extremely helpful offering advice for secluded none tourist trap locations. The cook is extremely talented offering a great selection of breakfast options. Couldn’t recommend this anymore. If you get the chance please stay

This villa is so beautiful, easily the nicest Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in! It’s even bigger and more beautiful than it looks in the photos. It’s in a quiet neighborhood but still close to all the attractions in Ubud. We so appreciated Dewi’s help setting us up with a scooter and everything else we needed throughout our stay. The villa was pristine and clean and the staff was kind enough to clean for us every day. The breakfast provided was also wonderful! Highly recommend this place.

What a truly beautiful place. Thoughtful design details, delicious breakfasts, and Dewi was amazing at helping us organize last minute massages. Dewi helped to arrange airport pickup for us, and Jaya (driver), was very friendly and helpful for our stay in Bali.

Spacious and at the same time incredibly cozy, respectful of ancient traditions while also being modern and functional, luxurious and simple, deep in the jungle, but perfectly clean. Someone wrote in the reviews below that this house is an experience—I absolutely agree. It’s a landmark, a cinematic place. I completely fell in love with the huge tree and falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle. And yes, the roosters only made me smile and laugh:) I highly recommend this place. You can do a million interesting things without even leaving the house—meditate by the tree on the wooden platform, enjoy the sauna, swim under the moonlight, dance (there’s a good sound system), or cook in a beautiful kitchen. The house is built with great love and exquisite taste—you can feel it in every detail. And a special thank you for the breakfasts—they were truly wonderful.🙏❤️

Place is beautiful. It is like being on a retreat. Hosts provided a delicious breakfast every morning. Great communication. The natural setting is gorgeous. However, bring good earplugs, because the frogs and birds are loud at night. Loved staying at this sanctuary. 🙏🏽

We had such a wonderful stay at Dewi & Maitreya’s special property. It truly is one of a kind and such a unique place to stay away from the hustle and tourists in Ubud center. The house was made with lots of love and thought, we could feel this everywhere we looked, from beautiful decor, to thoughtful spa like touches and lighting ambiance. This place is really a gem only made better by the people who manage it. Dewi went out of her way to take us to local shops and find us artisanal incense that we loved. They organized great breakfasts and wonderful masseuses to come to the house. We wished we could have stayed longer. The indoor outdoor nature of the home including a chorus of frogs and jungle creatures each night was exciting and although might not be right for everyone was very enjoyable for our group. One of the best Airbnb’s/property I have lived in ! If you are looking to live away from the chaos/noise , right in the lap of nature (literally), then look no further. Beautifully constructed villa with natural landscaping being a part of the architecture. Pictures don’t do justice to what the villa offers. I recommend this place as an experience that needs to be lived ! And Devi and Maitraye are great hosts ! Very humble, friendly and always helpful. And last but not the least, a beautiful spread of breakfast - organic , natural and very tasty ! Overall - a must must stay ! Highly recommended

Cannot say enough great things about KiMaYa Retreat. The place is massive - bigger than what we expected from the photos, almost to point of being overwhelming for only two people. It is absolutely stunning, one of the best Airbnbs (if not the best) we have ever stayed in, and we travel a lot. Dewi and Maitreya were so kind and made us feel right at home. We did not get an opportunity to join Maitreya for a meditation or yoga session due to all of our other planned activities, but we partook in Dewi’s breakfast each morning and it was AMAZING. Best nasi goreng on the island. The granola and fresh juices were delicious as well.

We had an amazing experience at this Airbnb! The peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The jungle view was absolutely stunning—waking up to the sounds of nature was truly a one-of-a-kind experience. The space itself was spacious and well-maintained, offering plenty of room to relax. One of the highlights was the beautiful pool, which was perfect for a refreshing dip while enjoying the serene surroundings. Wow. This sanctuary is an incredible hidden gem and I feel blessed to have stayed here. It truly feels like an enchanted hideaway from times long ago. Peaceful, healing, and spiritual. Indoor / Outdoor living perfectly nestled in the jungle, with the most beautiful wood crafted architecture and moss covered stone walls reminiscent of Bali’s ancient temples. Dewi and Maitreya were very responsive and helpful and the included breakfasts were delicious (they were also very accommodating of my food allergies). The sauna, outdoor tub, and swimming pool were the cherries on top. 10/10 experience.

Dewi’s home is a gem: a once-in-a-lifetime experience brimming with authentic Indonesian architecture and elegant Western amenities. We loved the jungle setting, the volcano views, the living room water features, the sauna, and the elegant gardens. I am a little ashamed to say I asked her if the property was for sale: it was that hard to leave! Dewi and her staff also make an INCREDIBLE breakfast. The dishes and drink options make you feel so deeply loved. Anyone who stays here will have the best time of their life.

Stunning and unforgettable stay. You feel immersed in the jungle. It is somehow even more beautiful than the pictures. Dewi and her staff were very responsive and helpful - we booked multiple massages and she helped coordinate a last minute scooter rental. The breakfasts were delicious. I couldn't recommend this stay more highly, and my husband and I hope to be back again.

What can I say? This place is paradise on earth. We couldn’t fault anything! The views were out of this world with the sounds of wildlife. We didn’t know which seating area to enjoy first. Dewi and Maitreya were fabulous hosts and gave us great recommendations for two fabulous local restaurants (both walking distance). Blue Karma and Tini Kitchen are both worth a try. We had a meditation session with Maitreya which was all very new to us but enjoyed the wonderful experience and felt completely zen. This took place in the yoga room which was open looking out onto the rainforest. We also had a fantastic couple’s massage in there too. I’m also a masseuse so very particular but have to say, I loved it! Last but not least….I could go on….our breakfast was delicious and plentiful! Thank you so much Dewi and Maitreya, we hope this isn’t the last time we will be seeing you 😊🙏🏼

This place is absolutely magical! This pictures somehow don’t do it justice. So many little details that make the place amazing, from the architecture that feels like a converted temple to the beautiful views of the rainforest below. The service was great and the breakfast that they provide is delicious and super fresh. Dewi was even able to set up airport pickup service for us and we ended up using the same driver (mr. Jaya!) for most of our stay in Ubud. Can’t say enough good things about this place! Only wish our stay was longer.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dewi's place. It was quite private and nicely appointed. Breakfast was always very good and Dewi also made us a great dinner one night. It was walking distance to many amenities in the local village and about 5 km from Ubud. We also enjoyed a great couples massage during our stay. We wouldn't hesitate to go back. The only minor difficulty we encountered was on arrival. The gate into the complex is not marked, but in retrospect was as described. The gate looks like a fence at the end of a narrow dead end road - when in fact it is a sliding/rolling wooden gate. Dewi has a regular driver that she uses - would recommend anyone visiting to take advantage of her driver - as he knows where he is going!

What an amazing space! Truly spectacular jungle views and unique tropical architecture. Dewi is an amazing host helping us rent a moped and provides an in-house meditation session. My girlfriend and I stayed here alone; I’m sure we could have added another couple (the other bedroom is slightly smaller and disconnected from the main house).

This place is amazing! It’s a real piece of heaven, surrounded by beautiful nature, and the house itself is a work of art. Dewi and Maitreya is super helpful and friendly, breakfast is organic and vegetarian, very tasty! Make sure to do the Tibetan bowl sound bath session with Maitreya, it’s magical.

Honestly I do not know where to start, this place is just Magical.. Unbelievable place and the pictures do not do justice to the place. The hosts and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My partner got a little bit sick and they ensured to look after her and provide nice remedies. The breakfast is bomb, we tried almost everything in the menu and nothing disappointed. Honestly the staff were the cherry on top of the cake with their friendliness. We organized multiple massages through the hosts, a meditation session and they even helped us with laundry. I would highly highly recommend this place to anyone looking to disconnect, relax and energize. The views are breathktaking, so many spots to chill and relax. Can't wait to go back to this place !!!! Kudos to the hosts and the staff that are looking after this Gem and providing an exceptional service !!

Dewi is always available for any queries or help with your trip. We stayed 5 nights and had a lovely experience. The house is amazing in a quiet place far away from the caos of the city but 10 min driving to it. Everything was perfect. At night you can hear the sounds of the jungle, with frogs singing, geckos, and a lot of fauna. Breakfast was a plus! I would def recommend!

Absolutely beautiful place! The views are stunning and the property is beautifully maintained. We loved being a little bit outside of Ubud, but still walkable to a bunch of great local restaurants and spots for a beer. Dewi was wonderful and the staff provided the BEST breakfast options! Such a peaceful place. Would just note that nearly everything is open air - the bedroom is air conditioned, which is amazing - which means ALL the wildlife sounds, and the occasional frog, gecko, or wasp in your room lol

Everything was amazing, if I could give 10 instead of 5 , I would give it without a doubt. Incredible place and very nice people. Only 10 minutes on a motorbike from the noisy downtown of Ubud and you fall into the fairy tale. My husband and I spent one night at the Basho house villa and three at the Lao Tzu cottage. Both housing options are excellent. The villa is luxurious - a saltwater pool, stunning views, all thought through to the finest details, even the incense that Dewi uses, create a certain atmosphere. A cottage is not that big , but very clean , also with beautiful views. It was so comfortable, especially during the rain, that we did not want to leave it. In yoga shala you can do meditation and for us it was an unforgettable experience. Thanks to Dewi and Maitreya, we really hope to see you again!

Our stay at Zen Sanctuary in Ubud was extraordinary. A perfect blend of privacy and comfort, it offered a peaceful retreat nestled in nature. The space was expansive and thoughtfully designed, providing an intimate sanctuary. Immersed in the serene environment, the rustling leaves and bird calls became our joyful soundtrack. The real highlight, though, was the happiness we found there. Zen Sanctuary exceeded all our expectations - it's more than a place to stay, it's an exceptional experience.

Magic place next to the forrest. This wooden house has the best exteriors we have ever seen. You feel like you are in an adventure film. The unique thing you have to consider is if you have difficulty to sleep, as you will hear the frogs singing really close and it can be a little bit annoying if you can't sleep easely. We would have also appreciated a dehumidifier in the room, as room was really wet at nights. For the rest, all absolutelly great. Unforgetable experience.

This place was a magical house! We are still dreaming about this place. Although it’s out in the open, the house is super clean, the breakfast is phenomenal and there’s so much to do in the house itself! I can see this house being perfect for even a rainy day. If you’re going to stay in this place, I suggest doing at least 3 days to get enough time :) they also have a yoga space with a beautiful view. Everything was perfect!

The stay at Ki Ma Ya Retreat was the most beautiful homes I’ve ever stayed at. The openness and connection to nature was exactly what I was needing. It’s even more amazing in person. Dewi and Maitreya were fantastic hosts, always responsive and their staff was the best. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to stay here as long as I did and hope to be able to go back someday.

Dewi's villa is incredible. It is a beautiful retreat nestled in the jungle. Dewi and her staff are extremely responsive and helpful. A couple of things that surprised us..... the swimming pool looks like it is not much larger than a hot tub in the images. It is actually a good sized pool around 5 feet deep. Also, the breakfast included was fantastic. Fresh, healthy ingredients with freshly made juices. Wonderful way to start the morning in beautiful Ubud!

My fiance and I had a wonderful time staying at Dewi and her husband's retreat. We are so happy to have experienced their place - it was absolutely serene. We got a private couple's massage at their home. We have to note that my fiance at a headache and fever one night because he wasn't feeling too well, and when I had let Dewi know, she graciously made him hot ginger tea with manuka honey and a propolis shot. His fever went down right away and felt much better the next day. We enjoyed their pool, and their breakfast with a view was just breathtaking! We are so grateful that they went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and safe in their home!

In all our Bali trip we stayed in luxuries and fine places- and none on them was as amazing and magical as this one🤩🙏🏼 When booking this place I was not sure how would it be, because pictures really can’t describe this place. The villa, the sound of nature, the privacy, the connection with the nature and the amazing stuff- all made this place an unbelievable experience. 🌿 Dewi the owner is just the nicest person and helped with everything needed. She gave us great local recommendations, organized things we needed and was always responsive. The breakfast was the best we had in Bali- don’t miss the banana pancakes 🥞 We had a massage in the villa that was amazing, and also a meditation session that was so special and relaxing 💆🏻‍♀️ 🧘🏻‍♀️ The drive to Ubud center was short and easy with Grab app or a local driver, which made all the experience even more convenient and accessible. This place is a must.

Everything from the setting in the jungle, the incredible yoga shala, salt pool, outdoor bath, sauna and Dewi and her amazing staff made our time so special. If you are staying in Ubud don't miss the chance to experience one of Dewi's properties, a life changing, expansive experience. This will be my first choice place to stay for all future trips to Ubud.

We, family of four have spent three nights in the Villa and the one word that describes it is Wow! This is a very special place on AirBnB. It’s mysterious, cozy, amazing, surprising and with a very original set-up and incredible eye for the details. Our hosts and staff were super friendly and accommodating, the breakfast is fantastic and options for diner are 5-10 minutes away. One heads-up, you are very close if not within the jungle, so you are going to eventually see, but definitely hear several animals. For those with an easy sleep, earplugs might be recommended. Finally, fantastic stay, unique experience.

The stay was an absolute magic! the house is too gud to be true, surrounding greenary was surreal and service even better....amazing vegan breakfast and a bonus of Tibetan meditation!!!

Like Paradise! This location and the old zen house is unreal. It is so beautiful und mystical with all its details that we had always the feeling this is a film scene. Furthermore Dewis breakfast is amazing and the staff very friendly. Two steps away from the old zen house is a beautiful open wooden yoga house with an incomparable view over the jungle. We had every day memorable yoga and meditation lessions with Maitreya who introduced us to a new world. We walked from the house through wonderful ricefields to Ubud and enjoyed every minute with private yoga lessions, massages in our privaten massage room, swimming in the salt water pool and just watching and listening to the jungle. We felt in love with this place and Dewi and Maitreya made our stay with their support outstanding. Ki Ma ya retreat is maybe the most remarkable private villa in Bali you can rent.

In short, in more than a decade using Airbnb, this was the best experience I’ve ever had. I made a last minute booking, but Dewi and Maitreya went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. The food, the tea, the yoga, the tips, the tranquility—not to mention the property itself—everything was stunning and left me with immense gratitude in my heart. This was hands down the most incredible airbnbs I have ever stayed at. The photos do not even do justice to the beauty of the architecture and the surroundings. Not only was the location and the building stunning, but we were able to have a private yoga and meditation led by Dewi’s husband Maitreya which I highly recommend. The house is soooo roomy and we loved the outdoor shower and the pool. You do not want to miss out on staying at this incredible location! It is an open air concept so there may be some bugs and creatures around but that is to be expected and we felt so safe in our surroundings.

If you have the opportunity to stay in this stunning oasis do it! My husband and I can here for 3 nights and I wish we had more time here. There’s no place quite like it. It faces beautiful views of Ubud’s tropical forest and I in north ubud so you feel like you’ve been transported somewhere far away. You wake up and go to sleep to the sounds of friendly wildlife (birds, frogs and geckos) around you. The helpful hosts are able to answer any questions you may have. Dewi and Maitreya have made this home feel so unique and special with the decor and the amenities (pool, sauna, koi pond) and the tasty breakfast bowls were a perfect way to start each day. If you’re looking for a peaceful get away where you can disconnect this is the place.

The villa itself is gorgeous and extremely comfortable, had everything we could possible need. its creatively designed and nestled subtlety on the side of ridge with beautiful views of the jungle canopy. Simply stunning. For anyone wanting a little slice of paradise, you've come to the right listing. A fantasy nature retreat. This is the most amazingly designed home, with spectacular jungle views and a fantastic, large pool. There is a sauna and big tub as well. The water gets nice and hot (and cool) as well. Would recommend this place to my friends and family enthusiastically! It was magical. The only downsides, if I had to pick a few, are that the kitchen is a bit limited if you're the eating-in type and/or are staying for a long time, the pool could use a step or a wooden ladder to help get in and out, and the sound system could be updated. I only provided the above, so you KNOW my enthusiastic recommendation is fully considered and thought through. This was an incredible place to stay in Ubud and I'd be back again in a heartbeat! 🙏🙂

Just as the rest of the reviews stated, this home is absolutely incredible and well worth the splurge! A beautiful space and truly lovely hosts. Dewi provides a fabulous breakfast each morning and if you don’t want to leave the house, it’s easy to order in! You’ll hear roosters, geckos, and frogs, but we slept really well (and we’re both light sleepers). The pool is bigger than it looks in the pics, and was the perfect temp to cool off after a way walking around Ubud. Be aware that it’s a bit outside city center, but it’s easy to get a taxi with GoJek.

Let me start off by saying this was hands down one of my favorite stays of all time. Hosts, Dewi and Maitreya, we’re very thoughtful and welcoming! The villa is about 10-15 minutes north of downtown Ubud; just far enough away from all the people, but still very close to everything. It is pushed back into a jungle ravine, with a flowing river at the bottom. The peacefulness brought by the natural surroundings and stone/wood work, along with the sounds of cicadas, squirrels, frogs, koi, and birds was surreal. The complementary breakfast menu was thoughtfully pieced together for all, and delicious. We placed our orders the night before and they brought it to the private kitchen at the requested hour. They also had a driver, Jaya, pretty much on hand (and he knows the good food spots!). If you’re looking for a getaway from reality, a reset, or a place to soothe your soul, this is it! I highly recommend this place before the hosts take it off the market.

Dewi’s was absolutely magical. We came here for our honeymoon and it was everything we were looking for and more. The place is gorgeous and tucked away in the jungle with the most spectacular sunrise and sunset views. The staff on property are all so nice and helpful. Breakfast was included each morning and it was delicious!! We loved starting our mornings with the sauna, plunge in the pool and then a warm bath outside. This place is above and beyond and makes you feel so connected to nature. Thank you for having us Dewi!

Just like all the previous reviews mentioned, it was AMAZING. We only had a night there so we didn’t even leave the villa. We enjoyed all the amenities and spectacular views and just relaxed. I wish we could of stayed much longer. We did walk down to the natural springs but just be aware and prepared that it can be a mosquito haven. Surroundings were spectacular. Villa was superb. Can’t go wrong. Worth the splurge! Host was very hospitable and communicative.

I totally loved this beautiful old house . To the point I fantasised about living there ! Full of character and charm . Lovely and quiet with beautiful views . My host was great and very helpful having diners delivered .

We don't even have words. This place MADE our honeymoon. Highly recommend booking the massage and the yoga instructor. The breakfast smoothies were our favorite on the island. There is a tremendous amount of life in this area and the beautiful old tree, giant koi, geckos, birds, and our friend the giant snail that loved to hang out by the entrance show how truly in touch this place is with the natural Bali. The hosts made our stay with any extra effort they could lend. The most perfect Airbnb listing we have ever seen.

This is a wonderful property to stay in - it truly felt like paradise, and we didn't want to leave! My wife and I spent our honeymoon here and it was just magical - beautiful.breakfasts every morning, super easy to get hold of Dewi and Maitreya, and incredibly helpful staff.

Absolutely NO WORDS can do justice to this amazing home. When we arrived and got the tour, my boyfriend and I were left in awe! We needed time to process the beauty we were witnessing. This place is always booked, but if you have the opportunity and the means to stay here, DO IT! And for more then one night! Our days were filled with sound bowl music from the speakers, swimming in the beautiful pool, reading poolside or in the hammock, and looking at the 24/7 gorgeous views. We absolutely needed more time here. It’s a dream. So close the busy city of Ubud so grab and gojeck aren’t an issue, but also far enough away that you don’t bear the noise of the busy city life. Dewi also has breakfast and vegan ice cream upon request! This home embodies tranquility. You’ll never want to sleep. I can’t wait to come back. It’s one of those memories I’ll look back on and sigh happily because of how it made my heart feel.

Had an amazing experience staying at Kimaya. An aura of peace and calm radiates through every corner of the house. The layout, design, and views inspire creativity and organisation. Dewi and Maietra are very warm and helpful, assisting us with any need. Maietra even performed the singing bowls for us at night, and taught us yoga breathing exercises in the morning. A sensation to experience! We only wish we could stay longer!

At first, we came with no expectations about the place at all. But after staying for 5 nights and 4 days here, it has became our sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the city. The place was heavenly and we are not even exaggerating. We love the jungle and rainforest which surrounds the place. The sound of nature and animals at night. The saltwater pool was the freshest pool we've ever been. The rain felt magical as we chilled on the balcony and read book. The architecture & interior as a whole was one with nature. Honestly, we could go on and on about how amazing Dewi's place is. Last but not least, Kadek and Dewi went above and beyond to ensure our needs were fulfilled, the care and attention they gave was immeasurable. The homemade fresh breakfast they made every single day was fantastic - homemade jams were yum! You'll definitely experience solitude like you've never experience before. The passage entry before you enter the house was stunning as well. All in all, a rewarding experience for you solitude seekers out there. Expect us and we shall return.

WOW! This home is a sanctuary- we enjoyed every moment of our time here and wish we didn’t have to leave after our 4 day stay. The photos of this villa are beautiful but just wait till you see it in person and get a moment to take in the beauty of the jungle surrounding you. There is something interesting to look at in every corner of the home. It’s well thought out and very peaceful. We felt so relaxed we canceled plans so we could just hang out at the villa. Dewa and the staff are incredible- they went above and beyond to accommodate any request or question we had. Already planning our next trip back!!

This villa is simply incomparable. It’s the most special place I’ve ever stayed. The pictures don’t do the view justice. Book it now. (There are many roosters, in stereo, you’ll hear starting at about 3am, though, so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper.)

Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Dewa and welcomed to a magical place of meditation,natural surroundings, tranquility,privacy and peaceful retreat for the mind,body and soul.The architecture and interior decor has been amazingly crafted to a luxurious standard,all details and comfort carefully attended to,a space to retreat and relax...morning time is a mysterious oasis with a kind of Avatar movie feeling slowly arising while sipping a cup of beautifully selected puer tea,daytime is bright and open aired,the sunlight dances on the pool, the exterior lighting enhancing the darkness of the evening and the place is deepening into the silence with harmonious soft singing of tree frogs...a space combining inside with outside,for a true connection with our beautiful planet,this is true enchantment...I was suggested to try ice cold bath after sauna and it was an amazing experience after which I slept better than ever in my life!! I would look opportunity to come back next year for a longer stay,already started missing this amazing home vibes!

Wir waren zu zweit in der wunderschönen Villa. Es ist einfach nur ein Traum. Alles ist genau so wie auf den Bildern. Außer der Pool, der ist sogar größer. Dewa hat sich perfekt um uns gekümmert. Jede Anfrage wurde sofort von ihm beantwortet. Egal ob eine Massage in der Villa kurz nach der Ankunft, oder sogar die Organisation von Mittagessen welches geliefert wurde. Die Einrichtung ist sehr schön und im Stil von Bali gehalten. Es war immer sauber, dass täglich geputzt wurde. Frühstück haben wir jeden Tag bekommen welches wir auswählen durften und um die gewünschte Zeit vorbeigebracht wurde. Wir haben die Villa nach einer Woche mit schweren Herzen verlassen.

The pictures don’t even cut it this place is absolutely perfect. The staff was amazing the location is amazing and I felt very safe. The host was always there for us at all times. They went above and beyond they welcomed us with a fruit basket of local fruits they showed us around. The salt water pool was beautiful by far the best pool I’ve ever seen. This is a true Airbnb too they made us breakfast every morning and it was delicious. Everything was on point. This place is so worth the money and the view and everything you could ever imagine. My trip was perfect and they were a huge part of it. They treat you like kings and queens. You will absolutely not be disappointed if you stay here.

The most incredible place my girlfriend and I have ever stayed. Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. So many beautiful touches from the koi fish swimming under you to the offerings placed around the entire premises. A beautiful saltwater pool is where I spent most of my time. Dewi and Dewa even provided a special flower bath and floating breakfast for us which truly made our trip more special. We loved the place so much we cancelled all of our plans for a day and just hung out at the house all day. Breakfast every morning was handmade and fresh, pancakes and fresh coffee with cashew milk. Still dreaming of this place. I will be back and will bring friends. Don’t think twice, just book this place already.

Dewi el anfitrión es excelente, siempre dispuesto para ayudar y ofreciendo ideas y servicios, cada mañana teníamos nuestro desayuno al gusto a la hora indicada por nosotros, nos arregló para un masaje con una de las mejores profesionales de la zona, nos alquiló la moto y nos dió consejos de ruta y precauciones, cada noche nos mandaba un menú diferente para elegir nuestras cenas o nos preguntaba si queríamos que nos llevase algún sitio recomendado típico de Bali. Sin duda me volvería alojar en esta villa con piscina privada con vistas a la selva, sauna, bañera al aire libre, detalles como flores, cestas de fruta y repelente para mosquitos a diario, unas chanclas típicas hechas a mano para cada uno...son tantos los detalles que no los podría contar todos.Si buscas un alojamiento en Bali no te lo pienses,es más que increíble lo que esta villa te va a proporcionar!!! Such an amazing gem. The space is unreal- beautifully decorated. It is relaxing and really grounding. I cannot day enough good things about Dewa. He is such a kind soul. He arranged us dinner delivered to the house, got us rides to and from town. We loved our stay here.

There's not much I can add to earlier reviews. This is a special place - thoughtfully appointed, incredible view and connection to the environment. Dewa was instantly available for anything we needed at all (food, transport) and made us feel especially welcome. We hope to return soon!

Beautiful place which is out of this world. Hosts Dewi was prompt in coms. Dewa the on-site manager was the best in ensuring everything was taken care of. Location is very convenient. While private, the villa had the conveniences of a village just located at its door step.

My wife and I have been using airbnb over 9 years and this place is by far the best property we have stayed. This place is much nicer than depicted in the photos - the architecture is quite sophisticated and there are so many 'views' within and outside the property. The main building consists of an open lounge area on the first floor and a bedroom on the second floor. Each area is artfully decorated and offers breathtaking views of the building itself and the jungle from different angles. This main area is seamlessly integrated to other 'stations' including a pool, a sauna/open bath, a japanese style bedroom, and a couple of decks that face the jungle. There is a great tree in the center the property that almost feels sacred.. We enjoyed all the amenities including the open bath, shower stations, the sauna, and the pool. Swimming in the pool was such a luxurious experience, with the views of the Balinese jungle, the sky, the birds, and the beautiful stone walls. Even the 'bathrooms' offered amazing views of the nature and the building! We were supposed to take photos in the central ubud area with a local photographer (arranged through airbnb), but we decided to take the photos here, instead. Just like us, the photographer was quite overwhelmed, as he found so many perfect spots. Other than the building itself, we really enjoyed meeting Dewa, who provided outstanding service during our stay - we had no issues with communication (his English was excellent) and most of all, we felt that he wanted us to really enjoy our time in Bali. While this place is on the pricier side, we feel that it is worth every penny. I would love to share my experience with my loved ones and I am definitely going to recommend this place to my friends and family if they visit Ubud.

Niché dans un écran de verdure à proximité de la jungle, la flore est magnifique et la faune plutôt discrète (peu ou pas de Gecko ou autres petites bêtes.). Le chant des coqs démarre à l’aube, mais c’est plutôt sympathique et on se rendort vite. L’espace de vie est aménagé avec soin et goût. Tout est pensé pour votre confort, et chaque détail vous invite à la détente ou la méditation. La Maison est très bien entretenue et les chambres sont très propres. Très attentifs et très discrets, Dewi and Dewa répondent avec empressement à toutes vos questions ou demandes. On se sent vite comme à la maison. Nous y retournerons sans aucun doute. À conseiller. Certaines terrasses n’ont pas de barrières et donc la maison n’est tellement adaptés aux enfants en bas âge. Nous y retournerons sans aucun doute.

Dewis Villa ist wunderschön und wir würden empfehlen dort eine ganze Woche zu genießen. In und um Ubut herum gibt es viel zu sehen. Mit einem Fahrer kann man tolle Ausflüge machen. Auf dem Gelände von Dewis Villa gibt es einen sehr freundlichen, hilfsbereiten Concierge, der auch den Fahrer organisiert. Wir wurden vom Flughafen abgeholt. Die Kommunikation klappt sehr gut! Man wird gefragt, was man frühstücken möchte. Obst, Smoothie, Eierspeisen und Fruchtpüree sind sehr lecker! Am ersten Tag wurde die Villa auch aufgeräumt und sauber gemacht. Danach hatten wir leider Strom und Wasserausfall und können nicht sagen, ob das der Grund war, warum niemand mehr kam. Kleinigkeit zu Essen und zum Kochen, bekommt man in einem kleinen Laden etwa 5 Gehminuten entfernt. Die Villa mit Ihrer sehr geschmackvollen Einrichtung ist ein Traum und der Blick in den Dschungel unvergesslich! Hier kann man richtig gut die Seele baumeln lassen und abschalten!

This retreat style house is exactly what you see in the pictures. My husband and I were so captivated by its natural beauty, open air concept and surroundings. Just being in this home feels healing to the soul. It is very close to the centre of the city, but far enough away that you feel you are escaping the hustle and bustle if you need too. We LOVED this home and will defiantly be back!!

Quand on voit le lieu en photo on se dit que c est magnifique, et bien c est encore plus beau en vrai, le lieu, l'athmosphère qu'y s'en dégage, tout est magique!! Moi et ma femme étions venu ici pour notre lune de miel, on a trouvé ici tout ce que nous étions venu chercher!! A réserver les yeux fermé cet endroit est de loin le plus bel endroit (hotel et bnb confondus) ou nous ayons séjourné. Un grand MERCI au staff également pour les conseils sur les spots typiques des entourages!!

Dewi's place immediately felt like home to us. There are just so many things to fall in love about this place: the rustic beauty of the old house, the intricate design of each room, being able to hear birds and insects, and being so close to the forest. For our time in Bali, we wanted to spend it in a quiet and peaceful place, away from the busy tourist areas of Ubud, and we could not have chosen a better accommodation, if not so much more! Having spent only two nights in Dewi's place left us feeling grateful, recharged and just peaceful. Also, I would like to personally thank Dewa, the manager, and all of the lovely staff that helped us get settled, prepared our breakfast and made sure our stay was the most comfortable we had. The most beautiful retreat in kelabang modeng! Yes the place is as per all the other reviews! A true architectural heaven but the best part is actually the view. The accommodation actually looks out to the thick, high and lush tropical forest. We had our meals outside everyday. Waking up to The sound of nature was also such a treat. Not something we can get in the city. Fantastic breakfasts! Thank you for the yummy homemade cashew milk and granola and also local tips on where to go. We really felt like we found a special place in bali that we don't want to share with other tourists so that it will stay unspoilt

The home's ascetics and architectural details are intricate and beautiful. The purposeful design allows for energy to flow positively throughout the house. The view extends throughout the Ubud jungle as far as the eyes can see. The home come with a sauna and pool that are going to make you feel like a new person. If you are looking for a retreat from your everyday routine, LOOK NO FURTHER.

Such a lovely location overlooking a beautiful forest. We spent plenty of time exploring the accommodation; up and down the little walkways. A must do if you are looking for some time away from the hustle and bustle. With a quick WhatsApp, you can easily get to and from the centre of Ubud for restraints and shopping. Simply stunning!

If this villa is open on your dates, then stop searching and just book. This place is like if the Buddha wanted to film a rap video, it's in another league. All the reviews here are accurate, the photos are exactly what you'll get. The jungle can be loud at night so earplugs are recommended and if you're a light sleeper like me, just run some white noise from youtube as you sleep to cancel everything else out. There were some reviews earlier on that talked about safety, which we didn't feel was an issue at all. The property has 24 hour security just outside the walls of the villa. Management is on point, always there to book a taxi, make arrangements for dinner and so on. Ubud city center is (to Ubud Palace) is 20 minutes via taxi, probably too far to walk, but never an issue getting to or from the villa via a taxi that would be between 75-100K IDR each way. Simply put, this place is magical and if you are luck enough to have a opportunity to stay here you'll remember it for a long time to come.

This property is nothing short of spectacular! If you really want to embrace nature then this has everything to offer. We loved that it was away from the city centre. It really is it's on oasis. Completely private and secluded. The staff were on call whenever we needed them. Due to the Ubud authenticity and open living, this was my favourite accommodation I've ever stayed in. We really didn't want to leave. Dewi even arranged for us to have massages in the property (which were fantastic). Breakfast bowls each morning were exactly what we felt like. The room was even made for us when we returned in the evening. I noticed people made comments about the sounds of nature (frogs, geckos and roosters) yes you can hear them and it's beautiful. If you don't like the sound of nature then why are your travelling to Ubud? Dewi, thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully we'll be back again soon. I've already told a lot of my family and friends about your home. I'm sure they'll be in touch soon. Thanks again.

As beautiful as the pictures of this house are, they really don't do it justice. While only a 10 minute drive outside Ubud city center, it feels like you in a secluded jungle hideout. The staff is amazing and very helpful. It was like being the only guests at a private spa hotel.

KiMaYa was one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. A lovely sanctuary away from the busyness of Ubud. The villa had so many different areas to relax, the top storey veranda, the beautiful open lounge area, the pool cabana or the meditation pavilion that overlooked the pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. Aside from the sheer beauty of the place the complete privacy was superb. We recommend the easy ten minute walk to Labak Sari cafe nearby. We asked for an airport pickup which was efficient and comfortable and we used the same driver many times during the week of our stay.

It’s a real gem in nature. We have enjoyed this peaceful and spacious villa very much. You don’t want to get out of this place once you step in.. I’d highly recommend. People working there were all super friendly and helpful, yet they put super high importance in our privacy as well. Which makes a huge difference. A real gem.

This house hardly needs another glowing review, but it does deserve it. It’s truly a magical, unbelievable fairyland of a place. Everything you could possibly wish for is either there already or a text message away. Our host, Dewa, was wonderful and made us feel very welcome, as did the staff. If you don’t mind sharing the house with frogs, toads and geckos (which we didn’t, it was fun to see what they were up to every night) then you’re in for a treat. Highly recommend hiring the scooter because there is lots to see in the surrounding areas. Phenomenal.

Our stay at Ki Ma Ya was absolutely magic! The property already looks amazing on pictures but absolutely is just stunning when seeing it with your own eyes. The design, atmosphere, the sounds of nature around you, all amenities... can’t ask for a better place to relax and disconnect. Deva the house manager was such a nice guy! Always calm and smiling, organizing every thing we needed from airport pickup to scooters to massage in house (you have to get that!)... every thing was perfect and we’ll definitely spend time there on our next visit to Bali. The only bad point I can tell is that we should have stayed longer than we did at Ki Ma Ya! Thanks for everything and see you soon 🙏

We absolutely loved the whole experience of being in and around nature. Walking barefoot on the solid wooden floors. Looking out at the beautiful old tree that gives you a sense of strength and security. Every place you sat or laid was perfect because you were held in such a spiritual surrounding. WOW! It is truly hard to explain our emotions when we first stepped into Dewi’s beautiful villa. If you are in Ubud and strive for an authentic Balinese experience filled with space that seamlessly blends with the outside world and if you appreciate the culture and timeless temples charm - this is a perfect match! My husband and I had a very memorable honeymoon at Kimaya. What a stunning place to celebrate a special occasion and to reconnect with self, loved ones, and nature. Every corner of this space is detailed with love and intention. Unlike anything you can experience in any other part of the world. A true Balinese paradise. We were very grateful for the ease of communication Dewi and Dewa who helped us sort out everything from scooters to dinner being delivered. This was quite simply the most amazing place we have ever been. The energy at Ki Ma Ya Retreat is of complete peace and sanctuary. As we walked around we were speechless and immediately wanted to live there permanently! Just sitting on the deck looking out across the jungle was so wonderful. In real life the place is even better than the photos. Both the host Dewi and manager Dewa were very responsive and helpful by message. They arranged couples massage for us performed by a lovely couple! We really enjoyed the simple healthy breakfast and Dewa suggested ordering dinner delivery from Sayuri restaurant - the food was incredible! We loved the wildlife and feeling of being in nature - seeing lizards, frogs, mockingbirds, swallows and even a couple of bats! (If you are afraid of nature this may not be your place.) We also loved the true darkness and opportunity to see the stars so brightly. There are some cockerels living next door so if you don’t want to get up early bring some earplugs! All in all a once in a lifetime find - book this place immediately and stay for as long as you can! We only stayed two nights and wished it was much longer.

Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit in der Villa! Die Kommunikation vorab und vor Ort liefen unkompliziert und super freundlich! Die Unterkunft entspricht genau den Fotos. Die Stimmung und Ausblick sind fantastisch! Man fühlt sich wie in einem balinesischem Tempel - überall Statuen und Blumen. Die Betten sind bequem, der Pool ist größer als gedacht. Die offene Bauweise ist toll, da man so den Dschungel drum herum von überall bestaunen kann. Dabei muss einem klar sein, dass natürlich auch der Dschungel zu Gast im Haus ist: Ameisen und Frösche dürfen einen nicht stören ;-) Diese sind aber eigentlich nur im unteren Wohnbereich. Oben im Schlafzimmer hatten wir keine Tiere. Zudem schützt ein Moskitonetz. Wer einen leichten Schlaf hat, sollte unbedingt Ohropax mitnehmen: In der Nacht hört man die Frösche quaken und morgens ab 5:30 die Hähne krähen. Wir haben einen Roller über die Unterkunft gemietet: Das war klasse und hat super geklappt. So ist man in 15 Minuten im Zentrum von Ubud. Auch unsere Wäsche wurde sehr günstig gewaschen. Ganz besonders loben und danken möchte ich unseren Ansprechpartner Dewa vor Ort und den Fahrer Jaya. Sie sind beide ganz liebe und hilfsbereite Menschen!!!

I almost don’t want to tell anyone how amazing and magical this house is!!! Oh my goodness, it is a dream! The view of the mountains, the sounds of the jungle...the open concept living, the outdoor showers and tub...the list goes on and on. It is incredible. Was quite perfect for us as we are familiar with Ubud and are very comfortable renting scooters and travelling around. We are also nature lovers. If you do not enjoy feeling like you’re living in nature out away from the bustle of the town...this is not the place for you. We felt beyond blessed to spend time here, and said many times that we would love it if it was our permanent home:) we will be back!!!

I greatly enjoyed the experience of my recent 5-night stay at Ki Ma Ya villa. It is such a wonderful and unique place, tastefully designed and built with fine tropical hardwoods, many antique wooden architectural features, and surrounded by an abundance of colorful tropical plants and gardens. It felt like a special and almost magical Shangri-La, a secluded little paradise in Bali. The photos on the airbnb website show most of the luxurious features and designs. What they do not show adequately is the wonderful peace and tranquility of the setting, the beauty of the landscapes, and the relaxing ambience. The staff are also excellent, attentive and helpful, happy to assist with special requests when asked, but also respectful of the guest’s privacy. The cultural attractions of Ubud are within easy reach, only a 10-15 minute taxi ride away. I highly recommend Ki Ma Ya and plan to return for another and longer visit next year. It was a highlight of my visit to Bali.

Simply Magical. If you want to become one with nature and feel like Tarzan living in the jungle then this is the place! With it's open air concept, expansive views & beautiful wood and stone carvings throughout, you are truly staying in a unique Work of Art with no comparison. The hosts are Perfect- providing the right blend of privacy and help when you need it. Breakfast delivered upon request was an added bonus- SO Yummy! Be sure to ask Dewi to book a 90 min massage for you in your villa on your first night! Relaxing to the beautiful chorus of jungle creatures will lull you into the best night of sleep ever! We had a hard time leaving the villa in the morning, often taking a swim and lounging lazily until afternoon in this private "Garden of Eden" sanctuary. When we did go out, our guide named 'Made', of Laughing Buddha Bali Tours was excellent, very knowledgable and spoke English very well. (FYI- not all local guides are fluent in English) You can find him online. For transportation, our hosts were so kind to arrange a driver who would stop for lunch and shopping along the way to and from the airport. Jaya was great and knew just where to take us for groceries, local fare and last minute souvenirs on our way home. Our hosts, Dewi and Maitreya came to see us off just as they had greeted us upon arrival. They brought me some incense with a burner, just like the one I had admired in their home and was unable to find in the local shops during my stay. It is that level of detail and kindness that makes them true SuperHosts and now, dear friends! We cannot wait to return here again as Ki Ma Ya will always have a special place in our hearts.

By far the most amazing home we have stayed in and was the highlight of our trip. Tucked away about 15mins up north from Ubud, this incredible home blew us away from the moment we arrived. Dewi and her husband were so nice and attentive. The house has an open layout, incredibly detailed, and well designed. We were able to disconnect and blend right in with the nature that surrounds it. We would love to come back again on our next trip to Bali!

Nothing can prepare you for the beauty that is here at Ki Ma Ya. Almost brought to tears, the incredible view of the jungle below, the beautiful design, and the tranquil details has us convinced that Ki Ma Ya is the most beautiful place on earth. Absolutely worth it - and an experience of zen we will never forget. Lots of love has been put into this space. Our hosts were gracious, and so generous, and even surprised me with a treat on my birthday. We are in love and hope to return again.

Dewi's home is magical and an tranquilizing. We were attracted by the majestic tree in the back yard, the spiritual feeling carry through the entire house. The design and layout of the house is well thought out, traditional Balinese details all around the place. We order dinner to deliver since the place is located off the main road. Dewi prepared fresh fruits and have house keeper brought us breakfast in the morning. It's off the busy Ubud area so you can truly enjoying the nature. We love the zen room, the whole family spent most of our evening there listening the wonderful music Dewi selected for us. We watch the starts by the pool and fall asleep listening all the creators sounds from the jungle. We would love to come back and stay longer next time.

It was truly a beautiful experience to have stayed at Ki Ma Ya. Dewi was an exceptional host. I was blessed with the opportunity to stay in many places in Bali and Ki Ma Ya was the most magical Villa I stayed at. You can genuinely tell how much work and passion has gone into the villa. Every single detail does not go unnoticed. The scenery and aura of the Sanctuary has no words to describe its beauty. You truly must see this wonder in person to be able to understand how majestic it is.

Simply put, this is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. The location is just north of Ubud, in a quiet neighborhood, with the house itself set back from the street and facing out to the jungle. Every detail of the house is elegant, beautiful, and unique - it is an absolutely stunning home designed in the open-air, Balinese style. Air conditioning is not necessary at all. The house is truly a retreat - we wanted to spend so much more time there than we had. Dewi is an amazing host - she was so responsive to all communication, helping arrange a driver (Jaya was fantastic), massages, and sending over a delicious breakfast for us. It is such a peaceful, tranquil space - perfect for yoga, swimming in the pool, and simply relaxing, reading, and meditating. We cannot say enough about how magical this place and these hosts are - an incredible way for us to begin our first trip to Bali.

Demi and Maitreya were phenomenal hosts who went above and beyond in making sure we had everything we needed to have the most relaxing stay possible. We were absolutely blown away by the beauty of the house when we arrived. It has everything you need, and we never wanted to leave! We used the sauna everyday, and took advantage of in-house deep tissue massages. My wife and I chose to stay here to finish out our honeymoon, and we could not be happier with the selection. We look forward to returning whenever we return to Bali!

This was a fabulous place to stay. Incredible view with lots of little details that make the difference. The hosts are incredibly attentive, arranging scooter rentals, food delivery, everything. Highly recommend for a little piece of paradise!

I absolutely love everything about this house. I stayed a week here for my honeymoon and it was so perfect and peaceful. The most perfect escape which was exactly what I was looking for. The atmosphere was so romantic. I loved swimming in the private pool and relaxing on the deck with nothing but the sounds of the jungle. I was concerned when I found out that there was no air conditioner in the bedroom, but with the doors and windows open it was the perfect temperature. Dewi and Maitreya were the perfect hosts. They were both there to greet us when we arrived and they were always a message away for anything we needed. They would book us massages for spas in town as well as at the house. They would order us food if we wanted to eat in and every morning they would bring us a delicious breakfast. They would give us the choice of either ordering breakfast from a cafe and delivering it, or they would make us homemade cashew milk with granola and fruits. The cashew milk and granola was so delicious that we opted for that option majority of the time. They also would give us tons of recommendations for restaurants around Ubud, which were always unique and delicious. I highly recommend taking them up on their recommendations. They also provided us a scooter for our entire stay at a fair price. They delivered it to the house and included helmets for us to use whenever we wanted. They would arrange for cleaning staff to come to the house everyday while we were out and they were always super nice and kept the house in perfect condition. They also provided us with a wonderful driver named Jaya who picked us from the airport as well as drove us anywhere in Bali we wanted to go while we were there. One of the days we had Jaya pick us up at the house and told him to take us to the best spots in Bali and show us around wherever he recommends. He took us to the rice terraces for hiking, an amazing coffee plantation, to see the volcano, a temple, and a waterfall while eating amazing food along the way. It was a perfect way to see Bali and Jaya was so great. In all this house was everything that I was wanting and more. It was so perfect and I have no complaints. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bali!

Ki Ma Ya is really amazing place. This villa is furnished with quaint antique balinese furnitures and crafts. Dewi and Maitreya are very kind and helpful. If you want to spend quiet time in balinese atmosphere, I strongly recommend.

This is one of the most amazing villas I've seen in Bali after staying in probably 35-40 different places in Asia. It's not a place, it's an experience, pure and simple.

We loved our stay here! When looking at pics before booking, I had concerns that it would not be as nice as it seemed...it was SO much better, the pictures do not do it justice! This was the third (and last) location that we were staying at during our visit to Bali and by far the best. We were glad that we had not started there because we would have been sadly disappointed for the rest of our trip. Our hosts were highly responsive to any questions we had and arranged for a chef to come and prepare us an amazing meal in the comfort of this beautiful house. Had we not already planned some exploring in Ubud, we could have easily and happily spent more time just relaxing at this true retreat. The only small downside of our visit was construction going on at the house next door. It went on all day and what seemed like kind of late into the evening. I'm not sure if it was this construction or another issue, but we were also prevented from being able to walk down to the springs, which we were hoping to see. Not a game stopper as the house was breathtaking and the view and stay really was amazing.

This is the most beautiful accommodation and surroundings and was a perfect space in which we spent the last couple of days of our Bali holiday. After experiencing all different types of accomodation in 3 other areas we couldn't have discovered a better place to end our time here. Beautiful energy, and no matter where you look there is detail and attention to make your stay completely comfortable and fulfilling. Dewi & her husband were very welcoming and accommodating and were very easy to communicate with and made arrangements for any of our needs. It was a wonderful complement to our stay to organise a yoga teacher to guide me through a morning yoga session in the amazing meditation/yoga room. We also organised for husband/wife massage therapists to come in and do simultaneous massage for us in the beautiful meditation room and it was such an amazing space to utilise. I look forward to another opportunity to stay here and would highly recommend this property to others. It really is so hard to put into words the wonder of this property and although the photos are beautiful, this really is a place that has to be felt to appreciate it entirely.

A beautiful, ambient accommodation

Difficult to add something to all the positive comments done before, but I'll add mine :) The house is amazingly beautiful and confortable, every single part of the house is decorated with taste and you can spend hours simply enjoying the fact of being here. The surroundings are impressive, almost lost in the jungle with this breathtaking view on the jungle and volcanos. It's a real experience to spend a few nights here, living in the open air with the hundreds of frogs, birds and geckos - I even saw a cute little snake on the last day! The hosts are really helpful, very easy to communicate with, and available all the time. In the morning they bring you a good breakfast, help you with booking car transfers etc.. which make the stay even more confortable and relaxing. Close to the house is a path to the ricefields, worth the walk! Thank you for this unique experience and stay, we really enjoyed ourselves and would really love to come back!

This is the most beautiful place we have stayed, ever! Dewi and Maitreya were such gracious and helpful hosts, with every detail taken care of. They were available for questions, helped us order healthy organic food and even brought over a delicious breakfast they had made themselves. The home is impeccably designed and maintained, and such a unique environment from which to enjoy the surrounding jungle. The pool and sauna were heavenly and we loved the meditation/yoga/music studio. I was also partial to the super comfy hammock with koi pond view. :) The nighttime soundscape (so many frogs and geckos!) and views are spectacular. We would return any time, and hope we have the opportunity to do so in the future! Highly recommend!!!

This place is an oasis. We loved every second we stayed there. Dewi and Maitreya are real Superhosts: uncomplicated communication, quick answers on questions, very friendly and courteous, they organized drivers and yummi breakfast - all in all amazing. We can more than recommend to stay at this totally unique and super beautiful place. It's a "once in a lifetime" experience.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for my time spent at this wonderful temple space. Like the other reviews state, it is above and beyond what is shown in these photographs. The magic that is allowed in this space is breathtaking. Each detail thought of. The hosts go overboard in insuring your most pleasurable stay. The property spotless! As a single woman staying here by myself I wondered if I would feel nervous. On the contrary! I felt so safe at night. They even have a security guard on site after 6 pm. They arranged a great driver for me that I ended up hiring for my entire stay. Again, I cannot say enough great things about this property and the hosts! What a treat!!!!

We do not want to repeat the many fine words that have already been said about this house, and hosts. These words are completely true. But just don't listen to reviews, listen to your heart. What does it tell you? If it is looking for a perfect harmony with nature and immersion in a calm flow of Balinese jungle's life in Ubud - you should to stay here. Butterflies, falling leaves of holy tree, blooming lilies in the pond and the song of many singing frogs will be your good neighbors in this house. Everything was perfect, everything was as we had dreamed.

Ki Ma Ya was by far the best place we have stayed not only in Ubud, but in all of Bali. The house itself is beyond beautiful and surreal from the spa to the pool to the meditation room and the open living area we were so impressed. One of the best attributes of Ki Ma Ya is also the lovely hosts. They were beyond accommodating when it came to coordinating our stay including lining up massages at sunset along with bringing us breakfast and dinner (since we didn't want to leave!). I would without a doubt stay here again and for an extended period of time-- we left in a state of complete zen. Words cannot express enough our gratitude and appreciation-- thank you!

The villa has spectacular view to the volcanos, forest, and energized by positive vibrations! Fantastic tree, fantastic view, collection of music what available for guest and fantastic sound by music system in the villa! Dewi and Maitreya were very kind, responsive and sensitive to us! We had early morning wonderful yoga class and afternoon meditation class with Maitreya! Also Dewi and Maitreya showed us some health habits in the evening food master class! We love our staying here and recommend everyone to come for piece and love!

We had a great stay at Dewi’s place. The house is fantastic and is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the incredible scenery, including the tropical forest (it sits on the edge), great morning views across to the volcanoes and even just watching the fish and frogs in the fishpond that winds its way around the open area. We really loved it. Dewi and her husband were really welcoming too. We can highly recommend staying for anyone that wants to get away from it all.

The host made us feel welcome by giving us an en extended tour of the entire place which took a while cause it’s so big! Maitrie and Dewi are super nice and easy to talk to. Soft spoken and mild mannered. They were very helpful whenever we wanted something arranged. Listing description was accurate. If anything it’s bigger than the pictures make it out to be. It feels like one big space to explore. It's a beautiful house in the middle of nature. Be prepared to hear the sounds that come with it. An orchestra of roosters will cock a doodle doo at the crack of dawn. The view is amazing. I loved watching the jungle during sunset and sunrise. I highly recommend taking at least a day out of your vacation in Ubud to explore and just enjoy the house. It’s beautiful! Get the Dewi to arrange you a massage and a chef to come in to cook lunch for you. The massage therapists and the chef are A+! It was a unique experience for my girlfriend and I. We both loved staying at this house. I highly recommend!

What an amazing experience this was. The house is in the middle of pure nature. The hosts are the nicest hosts this house could have. The place is clean and has all the necessary amenities you may need. It has a sauna, swimming pool, meditation room and of course a view to die for. The breakfast was amazing. Fresh homemade coconut milk with granola and fresh berries.

We had an incredible stay. The place is wonderful, a place which you have to really experience in person. Dewi and Maitreya were fantastic hosts. They were very helpful with recommendations, transportation, dropping breakfast off, and checking in by message when we stayed in town longer than expected. The place is very well designed and thought out, striking a great balance between providing comfort and amenities and allowing you to feel "at one with nature". Everything about Ki Ma Ya was perfect. The villa itself is gorgeous. I have stayed in villas around the world and Ki Ma Ya is the most beautiful space I have seen. The wood work is incredible, the lighting is perfect, and the interior design (like the pond with fish and the stone wall with carvings and a water spring) is just perfectly serene. The location is also wonderful. You really are in nature and the open air design makes that possible. There are frogs at night time and during the day you can hear the animals and birds as well as nearby temples which I found beautiful. Dewi and Maitre were also perfect hosts. They brought wonderful healthy breakfast every morning, were always available to be contacted, they thought of everything I might need and even ordered food for me on my first night, and they even helped when I asked where I could find a guitar to buy they showed up the next morning with a woman from a music shop and two guitars she had for sale (I had been searching for a week trying to find a guitar in Uluwatu, and could not find any). I hope to be able to visit again, Ki Ma Ya, the village it is in, and the hosts Dewi and Maitre were all phenomenal.

Wow wow wow , there's no words big enough to describe this house . If you want an experience you will truly never forget book this house ! I've stayed in many places in Ubud but this place is something else , the living area with beautiful stone walls and fish swimming all around you . The sounds of nature , beautiful big pool. Dewi & Maitreya have a wonderful sound system all over the house with at least a hundred cd's of amazing music that creates wonderful atmosphere . I loved how easy and accommodating our hosts were , they let us freely request any breakfast we desired at any time we desired ( from great restaurants like Kafe in Ubud ) . They fill the house with beautiful flowers all the time. There is a wonderful natural spring a few mins walk down from the house . Our hosts rented us a bike no problem and he house was immaculate and clean . Honestly I can't fault this house , the decor/temple are something you will never forgot . I'm day dreaming of coming back one day.

Staying at Dewi and Maitreya's place in Ubud was like a dream come true. The surroundings were incredibly peaceful and relaxing, while also being in a convenient central location was perfect. My husband and I first stayed in South Bali (Nusa Dua at the beach) and traveled to Ubud after. Honestly, we would just recommend staying in Ubud the whole time and travel around to different areas in Bali. Sights are anywhere from 15min- 45min drive on a scooter and there were so many great foodie restaurants (Locavore - highly recommend!), shops (Budda Wear for clothing pieces and for furniture Creative Living - they can also make custom) and nature spots. Breakfast was super tasty and healthy! We even took some granola home with us. If you also have the opportunity to do the cooking class and in-house massage we would highly recommend as well. We ended up cooking Indian food and our chef was very nice. Ki Ma Ya was truly magical!

This is by far one of the best places I have ever stayed in my life. The pictures are only a taste of what is to come. The experience is unforgettable. If I had to describe it in one word it would be "relaxation". It has every amenity we could want from a Pool to a Sauna to massages on demand and at all times you're surrounded by picturesque views. Close and yet so far from everything. We can't wait to go back.

I don't want to write a long winded review but wish to say that our hosts were incredible - making sure that we had everything we required on a daily basis. The staff at the villa were equally wonderful, keeping the accommodation in its best condition. We loved our stay in Ubud and it was due to the hospitality of everyone involved at Ki Ma Ya. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful villa as it was the perfect antidote to our busy working lives and our only regret was not being able to stay longer. It's an amazing place to figure out how to relax!.

Let's just start with one word, "wow". What a wonderful slice of heaven we found in Ubud. Dewi and Maitreya have done an amazing job in creating the perfect retreat. My wife and I were treated with amazing views, very thoughtful amenities and very attentive help and support throughout our time. The attention to detail, unique decorative touches and zen feel to the entire space was incredible. They were very responsive via text and helped to arrange dinner reservations (@ a top 50 in Asia restaurant) with a chefs table spot no less. The security guard and his family were very gracious to lend us their scooter so that we could make the short ride into town more convenient and fun. One thing I didn't realize was that breakfast was included. We were very satisfied with the amazing coffee, fresh pressed cashew milk, local granola and fruits that they brought to us. If you are looking for a getaway from the busy Ubud scene but still want to be close enough to walk to town this is a great option. If you want to find a retreat to reconnect with yourself and your significant other, this is the place.

we stayed here on our honeymoon, and the place was more than amazing. It was so peaceful and definitely a place to be one with nature. I'm so Sad I only stayed 2 nights. Dewi and her husband were great host, she communicated with me even before I got to Bali. She made sure we had a car to pick us up, got us a scooter, brought us exactly what we wanted for breakfast and was even so kind to bring my husband some aloe Vera for his scratches. I really hope to one day go back to ubud and stay here again.

My husband and I spent 5 wonderful nights at Dewi and Maitreya's gorgeous Villa. Our stay could not of been any more perfect. The house is so lovingly decorated down and every space is unique and special. Breakfast's were great and my husband was converted from cow's milk by the amazing almond and cashew nut milk (Maitreya kindly gave us his recipe for home). The most incredible villa! Maitri & Dewi made sure we had everything we needed. This place has the potential to make anyones experience exactly as they wish. Looking for a relaxing place, beatifully designed, with amazing hosts? This is it. Maitreya and Dewi were super - very responsive and helpful, and go beyond the call of duty (particularly hooking me up with a healer for a foot injury I sustained en route). As for the property - my wife and I absolutely loved it. From the volcano views in the distance to the intricate design details that permeate the space - it is extremely well thought out. It was a great base for us for 5 nights - close to Ubud but without the hustle and bustle.

Ill start by saying that I cannot say enough good things about our stay and you'll have to experience it for yourself. The house is even more beautiful in person. The property offers a hidden piece of nature and paradise. It was such a unique experience, I barely wanted to leave to explore the city. As far as the hosts go, they were also amazing. They arranged our drivers to and from the property and arranged private guides from hiking the volcano to visiting a local healer. They assisted with dinner reservations and recommend the best cafes. They also had a moped brought to the house for our use at a very low price which was great for the 5-10 min right to UBUD city center.. Each morning we made breakfast requests and they delivered beautiful breakfasts items. Like I said just go see for yourself and enjoy life as it should be.

What a transformative experience at Ki Ma Ya! My sister and I were so amazed by the peaceful nature of the space. We were in this blissful and spiritual abode for five very short days, during which we spent two full days at BaliSpirit Festival - we wish we could have spent even more time at "home." We experienced as much of the property as possible, practicing yoga in the meditation room, spending time in the pool, utilizing the beautiful outdoor showers, cooking in the pristine kitchen, lying in the handmade Brazilian hammock, and watching the sunrise/sunset on the chillout decks. Music is very important to us, so the fact that the villa has a Bose surround sound system and tons of CD options was awesome! We turned it on every morning and used it every night upon our return. We can't say enough about the kindness and positive energy from Dewi and Maitreya! We loved meeting them. Jaya (driver) and son, Tina (who also drives), were so wonderful. We really bonded with both of them through the week. I'd like to offer a bit of advice: Ki Ma Ya is a RETREAT, not a RESORT. Please remember that you're at one with nature in this lovely open air home. If the morning/evening sounds of the natural world and "quirks" of being in a jungle freak you out, you may want to consider other options. This home is for the spiritual, adventurous and open minded! For example, there is no air conditioning in the bedroom; it was a bit warm in the evening - especially after practicing yoga all day every day at an outdoor festival. That being said, Dewi and Maitreya went out of their way to purchase a fan for us! It made the sleeping arrangements perfect. We were also visiting during the hottest time of the year; usually this wouldn't be an issue. Additionally, the meditation room DOES have A/C - you can utilize it for watching movies and yoga practice if you prefer. Ki Ma Ya is a sacred space that any nature lover and serenity seeker will appreciate and love. We were so grateful for Dewi and Maitreya's dinner recommendations - they even made a reservation for us one evening at Il Giardino. It was wonderful! They also brought fresh items for breakfast each day. Ubud has a plethora of excellent vegetarian and vegan restaurants, and our hosts brought different things each time - fresh almond/cashew milk, granola, gluten free treats, eggs, and vegetables. SAFETY was very important to us, as two women traveling alone. Ki Ma Ya is super protected behind a gate with 24 hour (friendly!) staff living at the top of the hill/entrance. The place is also cleaned impeccably daily. I always like to experience different places and things, but I will dream of Ki Ma Ya until I can return one day! Thank you, Dewi and Maitreya for sharing your lovely home with the world. It was life changing for us!

First of all:don't trust the pictures,in real is 100 times much better. The place is awesome,an oasis of peace and relax.You are in the middle of the forest without any disturbing sound only the ones of the animals there.By night is incredible. Be aware of the mosquitos,but they have on the bathrooms anti mosquito creams and anything to not be devoured by them. We have a 2 day stat at Dewi's place but if you can be a minimum of 3 and spend only one day at their place and for sure ask for a massage...they do it on the meditation room annex to the main building and it's an unique experience. Anything that you read here will be nothing compared to the experience of staying there.

This house/temple was like heaven, litterally! My boyfriend and I felt like home, it was perfet to finish our trip. Dewi was so nice and her husband Maitreya so helpful the communication was so easy I want to thanks them again for everything. Amazing couple, amazing place.

Ki Ma Ya Retreat is truly remarkable. It's even more beautiful than the photos suggest. The villa is immaculate and the facilities amazing. As Jophin mentioned in an earlier review it is the perfect embodiment of the phrase "Being at one with nature". We spent 4 amazing days in Ki Ma Ya. Dewi, Maitreya and Jaya (their friendly driver) were all extremely helpful and always available by phone and Airbnb. Dewi visited us most mornings with fresh cashew milk and fruits. Other than these and scheduled cleaning staff' visits, we were completely left to ourselves with no interaction from the outside world. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Some things to keep in mind: 1. The Retreat is a rural/jungle area - expect to hear the sounds of roosters, chickens, geckos etc. 2. Don't forget to pack mosquito repellent (not as bad as you would think though) 3. It's a 15 min car or scooter journey into central Ubud. 4. Ask the hosts to book an in-retreat massage for you... you won't regret it! Seriously, you'll be struggling to find a more unique, romantic, spiritual, beautiful place to stay in Ubud. Enjoy!

Most amazing place we have ever stayed anywhere in the world. Dewi & Maitrya are the warmest hosts- communication was a breeze, and the house was even more amazing than the pictures. They even stocked the fridge with breakfast for us because the Bali day of Silence was the following day and they knew we couldn't get out for food. You'll never regret your time here, it was incredible. Don't hesitate!

This Villa was a slice of heaven. Definitely the best Airbnb property I have ever stayed in . The attention to detail was incredible. From fresh avocados from the hosts tree for breakfast to organic soap products in the bathroom, beautiful fresh crisp white linens on the bed to a film projector with a selection of films to watch in the evening. Everything was thought of and meticulously considered. So much so that we did not want to leave the Villa, with a vista that swept across the jungle in a stunning valley, one could just sit and watch the day pass. 5 Days was not long enough. Perfection.

Ki Ma Ya greatly exceeded our (already high) expectations, and went beyond anything we've experienced on Airbnb up to this point. A 10 min scoot from downtown Ubud through small villages and rice fields, the house opens up towards jungle and mountains on the horizon. The house itself is stunning, and the attention to detail is particularly noteworthy. There are flowers, wood carvings, statues, and wonderful small touches everywhere. The living area, kitchen, and 2 of the bathrooms are open air, while the bedroom, the theater/entertainment room, and the other bathroom can be closed off. The amenities are as described (top notch). Unclear to us when booking was whether or not the place would be all ours, or if we'd be sharing. Fortunately, it was all ours, and as mentioned in other reviews, much bigger than the photos would indicate. Another surprise was how much it felt like we were actually at our own private resort. Cleaning happened daily, breakfast was offered every morning, security was posted out front at night, and Maitreya was responsive to our every request / need: rides to-and-from the house, scooter rental, private cooking class at the house, restaurant recommendations, etc.. Maitreya was really great, and (I feel) accommodating to the style of the guest. He was willing to be as available as we needed, but once he saw that my wife and I preferred to be mostly private when we travel, he was also willing to disappear. I strongly recommend the cooking class. It was an unforgettable trip to a really special place. It might not be for everybody though. It's open-air and it's in what westerners would probably inaccurately call the jungle. That means bugs (though we experienced very few), wildlife (mostly frogs), and associated noises at night (no problems for us). It also means that some of the non-roofed areas can be a bit slippery after a rain. Finally, as mentioned, it is about a 10 min scoot to downtown Ubud, and if you don't ride a scooter, then you'll need to arrange rides in advance, as taxis don't come around often. The beauty of the experience greatly overshadowed all of this for us though. Ki Ma Ya is special. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in Bali and the 3 nights spent at this villa were our best 3 nights. If you want to relax and be closest to the nature the this is the place to be at. Moreover having a host like Maitreya who takes care of all your needs and responds to all requests within minutes, made this stay very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again when I visit Bali next time. The photos barely do any justice to the actuality.

Ki Ma Ya is the perfect embodiment of the phrase "Being at one with nature". Me and my wife had spent 3 days in Ki Ma Ya and of the 9 days we spent in Bali, those 3 were the best. Every aspect of our stay was wonderful and I don't think words can do much justice to the amazing experience that we had. The villa is immaculate. Every facility shown in the photos are available exclusively at the guests’ disposal. The view from the balconies are exquisite. We spent quite a lot of time lazing away in the pool and the home theatre. Maitreya is very helpful and is always available by phone and Airbnb. He visited us every morning with home grown fruits for our breakfast. He was always available whenever we needed help. Another commendable aspect of our stay was the privacy offered in the premises. It was just us and nature. Other than the daily visits from Maitreya and the scheduled cleaning staff visits, we were completely left to ourselves with no interaction from the outside world. After 6 days of running around the rest of Bali, 3 days of Ki Ma Ya allowed us to rejuvenate before we headed back home. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

I was extremely lucky to find this little gem of a place just outside of Ubud as I searched for last minute availability. It is usually fully booked and if you're lucky enough to visit you'll understand why. It is a little piece of luxurious paradise tucked away in a secluded little village. The views from the amazing balconies are simply stunning. The house itself has everything you could wish for complete with own private pool. Matraiya, his wife and stuff are charming and couldn't be more helpful. Find a way to visit

It's not often in life you get to experience beauty like this. As a couple looking for peace and privacy we both loved this space and miss it dearly now we are back home. Beautiful, calming, gentle and lush the two of us are now calm and thankful for the time we had at this special place. An inspiration created by wonderful architecture, historical beauty and kindness. Thank you again for everything Maitreya.

Nature meets living in the most harmonious manor. I had the pleasure of staying at Ki Ma Ya Retreat over a 6 day period of solo rejuvenation. After settling in I was able to find a certain stillness which was harnessed by the this appointed the space overlooking the jungle. This house has to be experienced. There is every comfort one needs to feel at home whilst maintaining a far distance from the world. Maitreya is an attentive host, organising a scooter and suggesting great places to eat in town, as well as supplying some healthy snacks during my stay. Maitreya is also considerate and respects privacy. I hope to visit Ki Ma Ya again in the future.

This place is just amazing! My partner and I stayed for 4 nights and only wished we could stay longer. The pictures can't do it justice with how amazing it really is. It feels like living in a temple high above the trees. Amazing views from in every angle. This place has everything you need to escape and recharge. Beautiful pool, sauna, very comfortable living area and bedroom. It has a cinema with a great Bose sound system that works through the whole place. The short walk to the natural spring which are breathtaking. You feel like you're in the middle of deep jungle while enjoying a pretty private natural spring. We spent hours there just taking it all in. This is Maitreya's home and from the moment you arrive you feel like more than just a guest but like this is also a place you can call home. Maitreya is a great host. Always able to help and offered some great suggestions for places to go in the area. He went above and beyond, made sure we were very comfortable and provided some great breakfasts too. I would strongly recommend getting a massage there. One of the best I have had. The place is open living but this just adds to the overall feel of being in the jungle. We will come back for sure and this is a place any couple must try to get the true Ubud experience. Maitreya and his home far exceeded our expectations.

During our stay I kept trying to write this review in my head, because I couldn't figure out how I was going to do it justice, and I don't think I ever will! We stayed here for a week as part of our honeymoon and loved every second of it. It was beautiful, serene, comfortable, we hardly ever left. Maitreya was so kind and helpful, the house was cleaned daily which was a nice surprise, not something you normally get with an Airbnb. We rented the motor bike and it was easy and quick to go into Ubud where there are endless places to eat, cafes, shops, sights, smells, absolutely amazing. I know some guests have complained about the roosters - yes, they will wake you up, but trust me, you will want to be awake! The frogs too can get very goofy in the evening but to us it was all part of the experience, we never had trouble sleeping. I don't even want to keep writing about it because it makes me sad that we are not there anymore! Definitely stay here! Also get a massage (better yet, two or three) from Pitra, so good!

Mon compagnon et moi avons passé 4nuits dans cette incroyable villa. Nous étions déjà tombés sous le charme en consultant la page web mais ce n'est vraiment pas exagéré de dire que le lieu est encore plus magique une fois sur place. La villa nous a simplement laissés totalement fascinés par sa beauté, son environnement, son calme ainsi que de l'accueil de l'hôte. Un conseil: prenez en compte tous les conseils et recommendations de Maitreya, laissez vous surprendre par ses petits déjeuners toujours excellents. Nous avons été encore surpris en découvrant le sauna ainsi qu'un écran de projection avec toute une série de DVD. Certains ont commenté les nuisances sonores (insectes, coq...), je vous promets que ce n'est vraiment pas importunant. Bref, je pourrai encore écrire bien plus (toujours positivement bien sûr), vous aurez pû comprendre que ces 5jours passés dans cette villa furent ma meilleure expérience avec airbnb et que je suis déjà en train de penser à la possibilité de pouvoir y séjourner à nouveau!! Allez-y!

Beautiful home in a stunning setting. Comfortable furnished with great style. I don't want to say to much and spoil the surprise for any future guests, but needless to say if you book here you won't be disappointed - an ideal romantic couples retreat.

Had the most amazing stay at Ki Ma Ya retreat! Maitreya welcomed us into his beautiful home and accommodated all of our needs and then some! If you're looking for a place that is serene quiet and beautiful I would highly recommend staying here. The next time we come to Ubud we are most definitely staying here but stay for a minimum of a week or two to really enjoy this beautiful home! Had a great time here! Very relaxing the hosts were amazing very warm and welcoming, helped us decide what to see and do around Ubud and even provided us with delicious cupcake recipes. Take the opportunity to stay it has everything you could want or need and the bed is very comfortable.

Wow Wow Wow this place is absolutely amazing I honestly had no words when I arrived. Thank u to Maitreya who was a fantastic host going out of he's way to drop off breakfast treats for us each morning, booking one of the nicest restaurant in Ubud for us, organising massages and a driver whenever needed. The house is better than the photos soo many beautiful open spaces to enjoy. The meditation room turns into a cinema which was such a nice addition and we loved the sauna and pool. The photos do not do this place justice it feels like you are staying in your very own meditation retreat with very traditional decore. The villa is only 10min from Ubud centre which is nice to be away from the busy traffic. The villa is in a nice quiet area overlooking a valley with rice fields. I would recommend this villa to anyone and will definitely be coming back. :)

Always available for questions and help, walking advice, assistance with drivers, breakfast treats and positive energy, Maitreya and Dewi were more than hosts and want you to experience and enjoy the beauty of their home...

Maitreya and Dewi's jungle villa is a fantastic place to get away and chill. We spent 6 days lounging around, doing yoga in the entertainment room, swimming in the clean pool, enjoying and invigorating sauna...but mostly just relaxing by the fish pond and reading. The bed is comfortable, there are 2.5 bathrooms, the hosts were very accommodating and communicative. I recommend for a retreat! There are a few things prospective guests should know: 1) As with all of Bali, there are some bugs and Mosquitos, do bring mosquito repellant (or buy the great all natural Utama repellent in Ubud). 2) It's a jungle, bring earplugs. The jungle noises can be soothing, but sometimes when the frogs and geckos are all trying to make love - it's noisy. 3) There isn't aircon in the master bedroom - it wasn't needed as Ubud is cooler that the coast...but just don't be surprised. 4) The house is about 10-15 minutes out of central Ubud, which makes it quiet, peaceful and private. This is not a place for everyone - it's not a generic 5* villa, nor does it have that price tag. It's a wonderful, beautiful spot where you can enjoy a bit of nature.

The place is amazing and so peacefull (you can feel to be in the middle of the jungle) Maitreya was helpfull for everything (place to see or eat, rent scooter, meditation...). He always answered quickly to our questions. We really enjoyed our time there. It s only 5-10min from Ubud in motorbike so nice n quiet (easy way). I recommand it. This house is an expérience on its own.

Beautiful, tranquil and peaceful villa. The location is far enough from the hustle bustle but also close enough to drive from Ubud's main attractions (Market, Monkey Forest, etc) The villa and surroundings having great energy, the bunut tree is amazing, sun deck, and spacious pool, wooden sauna and open air bathroom. They have spacious living area and meditation room. Maitreya is being very helpful and responsive since the beginning. Help us with everything from transportation, delivery restaurants and in house massage. We really enjoy our stay here and definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

My wife and I stayed at Maitreya's home on our honeymoon, and we had an amazing experience! It's truly a sprawling and private jungle retreat, and the attention to detail is truly unbelievable. We took full advantage of the pool, sauna, meditation room, etc- there's a projector to watch movies on, many tiers and decks to lounge on, and a natural spring to visit down in the river valley. Koi fish, modern balinese architecture and ammenities- feels like your staying in the middle of a jungle temple. A giant banyon tree towers over the property- it's stunning. Maitraya arranged for a private driver to get us in and out of town and to explore the local temples and attractions. There's a great variety of restaurants that will deliver if you feel like staying in, too. Our stay was one of the highlights of our trip, and Maitraya and his wife were wonderful hosts. We'll be back.

Ki Ma Ya exceeded our expectations in every way! Maitreya coordinated a seamless airport transfer for us, as well as transportation during our stay. Upon arrival, we were simply amazed at how much larger the property is in comparison to the pictures! Every inch is covered in conscious details that invoke tranquility and relaxation. The staff was beyond hospitable and the local community made us feel like we were at home, with family. The heavy tourist areas, beaches and attractions are all are accessible by taxi. After a full day of activity, or doing nothing at all - you'll be glad you chose this quiet village! Do not pass up a rare opportunity to experience Bali, while calling Ki Ma Ya home!
