Exploring Special guest house and stay in Balinese compound left me utterly unimpressed. This presentation felt like a flashy waste of time: all clicking and spinning, with none of the straightforward clarity I wanted. Zero stars for this browsing experience.
The virtual preview of Special guest house and stay in Balinese compound was maddening. I wanted a simple overview for my Tembuku plans, but the whole experience felt overcomplicated and exhausting. I would rather close the tab than wrestle with another scene.
I found the tour for Special guest house and stay in Balinese compound painfully tedious. The presentation tries far too hard to impress, and for me it falls completely flat. More spectacle than useful browsing; absolutely not my idea of a helpful preview.
Very nice small tidy property in a village, surrounded with kind neighbors. I was pampered with oranges, passion fruits, papayas by the host and our neighbour. Very good choice for someone who wants to get away from city life. Wifi ok. Need a scooter if you want to explore around and wants different choices of food. The transportation to and from the property to other areas can be tricky if you want to travel by car as there is no taxi available. But can ask the host to arrange one for you. Overall, it was a good experience.
Ein kleines Häuschen mit einem grünen Garten in einer sehr ruhigen und authentischen balinesischen Umgebung. 🌿🏡 Man fühlt sich gleich wohl hier und man möchte gleich länger bleiben. 😊 Es gibt einen Warung in der Nähe, wo man das Essen auch per WA bestellen kann und es wird nach Hause geliefert. 📦 Sonst gibt es auch ein Indomaret, ungefähr 1 km entfernt. 🛒 Kleine Märkte, wo man Einkäufe tätigen kann, und dann zu Hause selbst kochen kann. 🍳 Das Beste ist, dass es sehr viele Wasserfälle 🌊 in der Nähe gibt, die man unbedingt besuchen sollte. Carman hat alle nötigen Links 🔗 und hilfreiche Anweisungen gegeben. So konnte ich die meisten Sehenswürdigkeiten 🗺️ in der Umgebung erkunden. Ich bin mit einem eigenen Scooter gekommen 🚲, aber es gibt auch die Möglichkeit, günstig einen Scooter anzumieten. Das ist nötig, um die Umgebung zu erkunden 🌍. Zusammenfassend eine klare Empfehlung für einen kurzen, aber auch für einen mittellangfristigen Aufenthalt. 🌟
Fresh air, plenty of waterfalls nearby and some of the best hiking trails as well. The place is peaceful and ideal for relaxing and getting a deep sleep. There’s also a big public kitchen with everything one needs for cooking. The communication with the host was excellent and I appreciate his recommendations for surrounding activities.
Carman is a phenomenal man striving to help his community grow. I love the quiet spiritual space he created for us guests while implementing a system where West can meet East through substantial spiritual, educational, and personal exchanges. That place is a gem for people seeking a "real Balinese experience w/the locals" kind of stay in Bali! Please try it - at least for 2 weeks to fully enjoy it! Bring a friend ... it'll be worth your money and your time. Promess!!!
A Quiet Nature Escape Away from the Crowds The place is a bit far and uphill, but that’s what makes it so peaceful. You’re close to beautiful waterfalls, forests, and mountains - great if you love nature. The room is comfortable and has everything you need: a big bed, a private bathroom, and a kitchen so you can cook your own food. Unfortunately there is no AC. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They also rent out scooters, which is handy for getting around and exploring the area. One thing to know: the neighborhood dogs can be noisy after midnight. But if you go to sleep before then, it shouldn’t bother you at all. We’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy nature and skip the busy, touristy parts of Bali.

Carman is an amazing host. He is responsive and attentive always providing expertise and support for anything we needed during our stay. The schools are a great place to meet locals with a multitude of interest and knowledge to share. He is truly creating the future of international travel by bringing people from around the world together to share their languages and unique experiences. It’s a real treat if you’re open minded about travel and community. 👍🏾 motor scooter skills would be a great benefit although I’ve always had access to a driver. A home away from home.
suasana desa yang bersih tenang tidak polusi, jalan pagi olahraga keliling desa sejuk penduduk sekitar sangat ramah dan sopan, vila bersih dan bagus, dapur lengkap, mudah mendapatkan bahan masak hari2, pemilik sekeluarga ramah dan banyak memberikan informasi wisata, desa yang cocok untuk mereka yang ingin jauh dari kepadatan kendaraan serta ingin suasana tenang jauh dari keramaian. taman vila sangat asri dan banyak pohon buah2an yg bisa kita petik untuk dinikmati.saya ingin kesana lagi dilain waktu.
Really cool stay away from the tourists and crowds in Bali. Easy access to the big temples, Kintamani, and many waterfalls. The garden is really beautiful and nice place to relax. Kitchen was handy as I cooked many meals there. Carman was one of the best hosts I’ve had. He invited me to local ceremonies and always made sure I had everything I needed. I was on a road trip for a while and he checked in with me to make sure I was ok. I felt like I was with family there at the farm. A great place to see real life in Bali. Thank you Carman!!
Carman is an exceptional host. The home sits amidst a beautiful garden surrounded by fruit trees — orange, tamarillo, giant passionfruit, and more — and the gentle sounds of local farm life. Carman, his family, and Putu were very prompt in meeting any requests and were truly warm and wonderful hosts. The village is peaceful, with welcoming residents, and just a short scooter ride from many scenic waterfalls. We also took longer rides to Batur and beyond. It was the perfect spot for a slow holiday — we cooked our own meals in the shared kitchen and enjoyed the laid-back rhythm of life in beautiful Bali. Highly recommended.
Carmen is a phenomenal host! He sorted out airport transport and was flexible with my check in time which was 3am! He recommended many activities and waterfalls to see and helped arrange transport by car and motorbike to those places. This location however is very remote and transport is needed, at least an hour walk to get to closest waterfalls. Motorbike is a cheaper form of transport, about 250,000 for the day, whereas a driver is about 450,000. Carmen’s family was wonderful and welcoming, I even got to attend a Balinese wedding reception! BUT the location was super noisy with animals and dogs barking at certain times of the day, easiest sleeping hours was 8pm to 3am. Overall, enjoyable and cost efficient stay so you could spend money on transportation and activities in other areas!
Der Anfang der Reise lief wie geplant ab. Carman hat einen Fahrer vom Flughafen zur Unterkunft organisiert. Trotz meiner späten Ankunft (halb 9 abends) wurde ich sehr herzlich in Empfang genommen. Die Unterkunft hat mir sehr gut gefallen und ich komme gerne jederzeit wieder hierher zurück. Alle sind sehr aufgeschlossen, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Man kann hier jederzeit einen Roller oder auch einen Fahrer (entweder Auto oder Roller) mieten. Carman betreut darüber hinaus ein lokales Projekt (Kindern im Dorf Englisch/Japanisch beibringen). Bei Interesse ist man jederzeit eingeladen, daran teilzunehmen. Der Austausch mit den anderen Freiwilligenhelfern ist überaus bereichernd und man kann gemeinsam Ausflüge planen. Carman hat ausgesprochen gute Englischkenntnisse, was die Kommunikation enorm erleichtert. Im Dorf selber können die ein oder anderen Indonesisch-Kenntnisse (oder ein guter Online-Übersetzer) nicht schaden.
We are really pleased that we stayed here, it’s a beautiful calm setting, the gardens are idyllic, the accommodation itself is great value, the building design is very impressive. We were very surprised at how pleasant the night temperatures were, no need for a/c and we were not bothered by insects at all. The community of people staying around the resort are very welcoming and some are volunteering to teach English in the local school. The host Carman has ceremonies and other events going on which guests are invited to if they like to go, but no pressure. We hired a scooter cheaply from the host which allowed us to visit the local waterfalls, are very impressive and not busy at all. I would highly recommend staying here to get an authentic Balinese experience in a jungle setting.
I had an amazing three day stay here, Ketut along with his family are very kind and welcoming. They even invited us to join a local full moon ceremony and loaned us appropriate clothing to join. Very happy to share beautiful balinese culture. Beautiful temples and many beautiful waterfalls to visit nearby, I suggest you come by motorbike for maximum flexibility! The room was clean with a well equipped kitchen and clean bathroom!
Super friendly and welcoming host and extended family! Private space and garden to pick fresh oranges and green beans ! Earplugs good as next to a farm and living in jungle so natural to expect tropical animals from time to time. Carmen (Ketut) was so so helpful and all of staff including Nyoman and Made made my stay very easy and relaxing. Borrowed scooter for trip to hike Mount Batur (3hrs round trip from seningga village) and there are many waterfalls close by to the accommodation if you take a scooter . Sociable with other guests and we had many inspiring conversations . Will come again ! Thank you 🙏😊🙌
Carman und ich kamen schnell ins Gespräch. Die Lage ist etwas abseits vom Tourismus, perfekt um mehr von Kultur und Traditionen mitzubekommen. Die Familie war sehr gastfreundlich und jeder Situation hilfsbereit. Ob es Empfehlungen sind oder die Organisation von Fortbewegungsmitteln. Es ist echt idyllisch und besonders hier. Man kann von dort aus in verschiedene Richtungen alles gut erreichen. Die kleinen Warungs herumliegend bieten wundervolles Essen. Ich danke für die Möglichkeit hier zu schlafen. Suksma Carman 🙏
Carman, his family and the people surrounding are amazing. They welcome me as their family. I love the serene scene of a traditional desa adat. I learn so many from the people. And the place just perfect. Carman arrange the surrounding for a very pleasant place with so many oranges, chili rawit, and spinach tree that I can pick at any time. Carman’s wife also took me to a traditional Balinese wedding which is a great experience for me. I wish I have a longer time there. Absolutely that the place I won’t forget and I hope someday can go back there.
This is a beautiful place to stay if you want to experience authentic Balinese lifestyle. The village is breathtakingly beautiful and the locals are warm, welcoming and friendly. Though there are no public transport options, arrangements can be made to rent a scooter or hire a private car. Carman and his family were incredibly helpful to me for arranging anything I needed, be it fruits, food, a ride to the main market or sight seeing. His sister in law owns a warung near the compound which sells essential things. There is also another nearby warung which offers delicious Balinese and continental dishes. I as a remote worker looking to experience a new country along with ample peace and scenic beauty in which to do my work, loved this place.
Carmen is an exceptional host- always available to help. There’s a warung across the street with really delicious food and also a shop with many miscellaneous things next door, so all your needs are provided right where you’re at. Everyone in the village is extremely kind and welcoming. I had a very peaceful stay and learned a lot about real Balinese culture.
als je rust temidden van heel vriendelijke balinesen (zonder touristen) zoekt in een mooie, groene omgeving is dit een fantastische plek. Als je hier rondloopt spreekt iedereen je aan en je voelt je opgenomen door de familie rond het huisje. De Warung (ook familie) breng heerlijk eten aan huis met ruim keuze voor ontbijt, lunch en diner. In de omgeving is voldoende te beleving, vooral met eigen vervoer of gehuurde scooter. Carman heeft ons uitgebreid over mogelijkheden in de buurt voorgelicht.
Great price for the place nice village nice markets down the streets only thing I didn’t like was there is a geko sleepin on the ceiling and he is very annoying

A truely marvelous place to stay! There are sweet sounds of the jungle and village to listen too; it is very comfortable and private, but you can also venture out into the village and encounter ceremonies and traditional life if you want too... Carman and his family are so sweet and welcoming. You can rent a scooter for cheap and get around to temples and waterfalls and the lake in the volcano.... Across the lane is a warung with the best food in Bali.... Definitely stay here!

staying at Carmans place was a wonderful, authentic, immersive Bali experience. And his family are wonderful as well. Nyoman has everything you could want to cook breakfast, farm fresh eggs, Balinese coffee, sugar and noodles and rice. The kitchen was perfect for cooking everything I needed. I felt very much at home and the vibe is very sweet, welcoming and familiar. Indeed one of my best times the 7 weeks I was on the Island. A truly rewarding experience!!!
J’ai été loger pendant 14 jours ici, et je ne peux que vous le recommander ! Le lieu est agréable à vivre, je m’y suis senti chez moi. La voisine m’a accueilli et nous a loué des scooter quand nous en avions besoin, toujours prête à nous rendre service merci encore à elle ❤️, le village est vraiment accueillant vous pouvez manger à proximité dans des familles qui vous accueillerons avec plaisir, l’hôte est réactif en cas de besoin, il nous a fait de chouette recommandations sur les lieux à visiter au alentour, et nous a proposer les services de Komang qui a été notre chauffeur pendant plusieurs jours! Vous pouvez réserver les yeux fermé, vous ne serez pas déçu !
I like staying at this house. It is located in real village with dogs, cats, chickens. Very friendly and helpful neiborhuud where I did not felt like tourist but like a guest. Thank you!

Metro is a traditional Balinese village. The house, bathroom and kitchen are in a lovely garden. Everything looks new and is clean and very practical. Hot water, a washing machine and wifi are included in the VERY low price.Staying there is a delight. Neighbours are very welcoming. You can teach English to a group of children in the afternoon if you like. There is also a vanilla farm and Ketut, the owner, explains everything very well in English. He is also a great guide. There is a small restaurant just opposite the farm where the family also speak English and make you ever so welcome. Money isn't their first concern. I highly recommend staying at Carman's place for a few days because you will understand Balinese culture and society so much better and enjoy this lovely place.
This was such a lovely stay with a beautiful foot path to a cute little A-frame. Great for pictures. It's in a tiny little village so definitely a place for relaxation and peace, or even to get some work done. Carman and his family were more than accommodating, helping me with laundry and always bringing me treats. I booked for a week but unfortunately had to fly back to New York unexpectedly and cut my stay short. Will definitely be back to enjoy the peacefulness of this place.
Carman’s place is a beautiful cabin nestled amongst a peaceful village, surrounded by greenery , yet gives you complete privacy . Thoughtfully designed accommodation amongst orange orchard , the place exceeded my expectations. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone .

Absolument pas grand chose a redire Carman et sa famille sont des gens adorables tres attentionnées et tres réactifs. Il nous a fait participer a sa vie familiale en nous invitant aux cérémonies familiales. La perfection n'étant pas de ce monde une petite remarque est a mentionner: la connexion Wifi est limite donc pensez a acheter une carte a l aéroport pour un partage de connexion a ce sujet Carman ma prêté un portable alors vous en pensez quoi ?: Il faut y aller sans hesitation vous m en direz que du bien
This is an incredible place to visit if you want really local, none touristy Bali! The people of metra, tembuku are just incredible. Really welcoming, always happy and friendly. If you want, they will invite you to the local ceremonies birthdays and weddings so you can experience the religious customs. Carmen is a great host, very attentive and if he isn’t around to help you out his brothers or sister in law aren’t too far away! They are a very accommodating family. I’ve had a fantastic stay here and I will be back in the future to catch up with every one I have made friends with. Thank you Carmen
Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt in der Unterkunft. Mein Gastgeber war der Inbegriff von Freundlichkeit und das Konzept hier ist sehr spannend und interessant. Wir hatten einen kleinen Garten mit verschiedensten Gemüse und Obst Sorten und konnten uns umsonst bedienen ! Ich habe jeden Tag zum Frühstück ca 2-3 passionsfrüchte gegessen. Man kann viel unternehmen und es gibt viel zu sehen dort. Wer das authentische Bali kennen lernen möchte muss dort hin ! Nicht weit weg gibt es ein kleines Warung (Restaurant) bei dem es sehr leckeres babi guling gibt. Es ist generell natürlich günstiger was essen betrifft weil man weiter weg vom touristischen Geschen ist. Alles in allem kann ich es Menschen empfehlen die genug vom Abfertigungs Tourismus haben, ich werde ganz sicher wieder hier kommen. Absolute Empfehlung von mir
If you really want feel the real Balinese hospitality this is the place to stay. Charman and his family welcomed us like family and always been there to help with everything we needed. The location of the village will give access to wonderful waterfalls and nature that are still unspoiled by the tourism. There is a Warun (local restaurant) and supermarket less than 300 meters away for you to eat and buy the basics you may need for your stay. Just around the corner is also a plantation of vanilla that you can visit and see how the vanilla is growing. I am totally recommend this place and I hope I will go back there soon when I am back in Bali.
Carman and his family were very welcoming, friendly and helpful! Great location for an authentic Balinese culture experience! The neighborhood is vibrant with also green spaces, jungles, nice walks. Looking forward to go back :)
We had the most wonderful stay at Ketut’s house. The extended family live next door and they were so warm and welcoming. There is a Warung very close by that can deliver meals up to three times a day at a very affordable price. Anika has a place across the street and she does amazing Balinese make up as well as eyebrow threading and eyelash extensions if you fancy a beauty treatment. There are beautiful waterfalls nearby. The village is very traditional and we didn’t see any other tourists while we were there. We couldn’t recommend it more highly.
Located in a remote village, we were the only tourists in town. It's 10 min by scooter to two beautiful waterfalls, and a day trip can take you to Mt Batur, Mt. Agung or Sideman. What makes this place worth visiting is that experiencing life in the countryside, as the everyday person lives. You slow down and get to know what life is like for Balinese people. Ketut's family lives nearby, and are happy to welcome you for a visit, offering a bite to eat, some tea and a chat. We were even invited to a temple festival, which may happen if your timing is lucky. Ketut gave us local clothes to wear, and coached us through the ceremony, as the only foreigners there. Bring specialty foods with you from Ubud (like olive oil), shop at a local market, and bring a scooter (or bikago). But mostly, just get away from the bustle, take time to see local life. It's not for everyone, but if want things simple, and take things slow, there's no nicer family to visit. Enjoy!
Потрясающий домик в деревне, где красивейшая природа и очень дружелюбные люди! Я прожила в доме Кетута 10 дней и это было очень хорошо. Всё как на фото и даже лучше. Все мои сообщения Кетут читал моментально и тут же помогал решить вопрос очень быстро, 5-10 минут, я впервые встретила такую оперативность. Сестра Кекута, угощала фруктами и сладким картофелем, провела экскурсию по своему дому, было очень интересно и приятно. Спасибо огромное, за теплый прием, комфорт, уют и ощущение дома.
This is the most exciting & sweet experience living in Bali. If you wish to enjoy real Balinese life & culture, this is the place. It's private, peace, comfy, safe. Best place for you to stay alone or with your family. A lot of nature attractions to discover. You can also follow the daily activities of its community, incl. religious ritual. You won't be deficient in Vit. C during here. Citrus & passion fruits are around and can be picked anytime. Including veggies like kale, eggplant, lettuce & chillies for you to cook in your own clean kitchen. It's really like at your own home while you far away from home! Ketut & his family are very helpful in anything. Tips: bring more sweater is always good here, one week is not enough to enjoy this nice property and discover the tourist objects. Thank you Ketut and all. I hope there will be available unit when I return.. 👌
Ketut, his family (our hosts), and the village as a whole are beyond welcoming and friendly. We have made many beautiful connections and had a taste of authentic Balinese that perhaps most tourists are unable to experience. We have had such a lovely time during our stay here. We arrived with a driver - Ketut provided very good directions and a maps pin to navigate to - and spent the first week here exploring by foot throughout the village. The next week we hired a motorbike from Bikago (delivered for free to the villa!) and have spent the past few days exploring the further-flung charms. This is somewhere to come if you are seeking somewhere far off the tourist trail (you will likely be the only tourists in the area) and are seeking an authentic taste of life in a Balinese village. Expect the rural charms of a farming village - complete with fruit trees and a garden on site which guests are free to eat from. I could write more but I’ve run out of space! Thank you so much! This was very difficult for me to leave this bnb. I felt like they were my family. The beautiful garden with the ability to pick fruit was amazing. I was so happy with my day to day life and the village community were so nice and friendly. I could see my self living there. Thank you Ketut and family.
I experienced the lifestyle in a Balinese village. Everyone is so friendly it’s almost impossible to comprehend for my western mind. Very tidy and beautiful place of Ketut. He himself was growing up in the village and wants guests to feel at home instantly. Therefore he’ll offer you vegetables out of his own garden for free, plus a breakfast in the morning. All for free ☝️ In the close area, walking distance away, you will find a supermarket and restaurants and vanilla farms. Also, and that’s maybe the only thing one needs to get used to, are the dogs and rooster in the morning. Besides the animals it’s very calm and the climate is so much more chilled than in the south😍
The cabin looks brand new and is very comfortable with everything we needed, including an equipped kitchen. The bed was maybe the best we ever slept on. We woke up each morning to village sounds. The garden setting is beautiful and we enjoyed exploring all the different plants and trees growing there, and trying the local fruits. It was a good experience to be in a rural setting away from the tourist rush, yet close to waterfalls and other sights. There's a great warung down the street run by friendly owners, and a supermarket and other small shops are also close by. We also visited the vanilla farm on the same street. Ketut's sister brought tea and Balinese sweets for us every morning which was a nice touch. This is a place we'd love to go back to and spend more time.

Es war die beste Unterkunft in Bali. Ketut hat uns sehr viel über sein Land und den Menschen und ihren Glauben erzählt. Der Ort ist so schön das man richtig zu Ruhe kommt . Wenn man aber möchte kann man auch vieles sich anschauen. Mir hat auch der Garten sehr gefallen. Die Räumlichkeiten laden einfach ein länger zu bleiben . In der nähe gibt es auch ein Restaurant was auch gut ist . Zum Frühstück oder Abendessen.
