Exploring The Rice Joglo Eco-Stay Magical Family Treehouse left me utterly unimpressed. This presentation felt like a flashy waste of time: all clicking and spinning, with none of the straightforward clarity I wanted. Zero stars for this browsing experience.
The virtual preview of The Rice Joglo Eco-Stay Magical Family Treehouse was maddening. I wanted a simple overview for my Ubud plans, but the whole experience felt overcomplicated and exhausting. I would rather close the tab than wrestle with another scene.
I found the tour for The Rice Joglo Eco-Stay Magical Family Treehouse painfully tedious. The presentation tries far too hard to impress, and for me it falls completely flat. More spectacle than useful browsing; absolutely not my idea of a helpful preview.
We gathered at the meeting point in the heart of Ubud. Regrettably, no one showed up from there team, we faced challenges unloading our belongings due to impatient drivers honking at us, obstructing the road. Adding to the discomfort, the staff arrived with four small bikes—no insurance coverage and insufficient helmets. Some of us never had a motorbike ride before! They urged us to hop on these bikes to reach our destination. 20 min walk. Our high end suitcases were treated like plastic bags !! While the building was nestled in a picturesque, remote location, it lacked essential safety measures such as fire exits. My experience was far from pleasant, and I would not recommend it to others.” While on the bike the drivers made calls to bring us to a wooden house what was not build according the Indonesian permit bureau and not calculated construction. Could see any fire extinguishers or any chance to get reached by ambulance or firefighters. Not a save place at all. Host from Norway !!
A quiet place with spectacular rice field view. We love the interior design, nice bathroom, shower was nice. 1/ However, location is bit inconvenient with no car access. Either 20 mins’ walk to the main road or taking a goride. 2/ Struggling to connect WiFi of the property, most of the time we were using our own data. 3/ One of our bed sheet was wet, probably from a leaking roof. 4/ For the second night, it was quite disappointed to find out many basic equipments of kitchen had been locked in the drawers by the maid. We choose an Airbnb to spend our holiday mainly for the reason that we can cook and enjoy time together. This is very unacceptable since the staff already saw us cooking in the first night. 5/ It was a last minute booking, we negotiated with the owner and came directly to visit the place. Due to some issues from Airbnb, it took us a longer time to deal with the payment, the owner started showing impatient, even sent messages about expelling us. In the end, quite a disappointing experience.

Our family had a great time at rice Joglo. Our manager, Sonu, was very professional, helpful & friendly. He & his team collected us from our pick up point on their scooters managing to balance us & our luggage for the 5 mins ride to the property which is a fair way into the rice fields - be prepared to walk for 20+ minutes if you’re not getting a ride during your stay (you’ll get a ride for check-in and check-out). The property is unique with an outdoor bathroom on the ground floor!! It’s very clean & well maintained, sitting in the rice fields. Well worth experiencing this wonderful place with great little restaurants all around. Breakfast provided by Made’ was great too.
怪我没看清楚，所以我们一家老小入住发现才一个卫生间，傻眼。还好就两个晚上。还有，我非常不习惯蚊帐，总觉得不干净。别墅没有厨房。不过房间含早餐，环境也非常好。主人也很热情。适合情侣，不适合老人小孩。每次进出二十分钟水稻小径步行，我觉得很好，老人家受不了。还有，水稻旁边都是水沟，一秒钟没看牢，我家娃摔进水沟一次，摔下台阶一次，还好皮实。
We really enjoyed our stay at the Rice Joglo Villa. Staff was very kind. Villa was much cleaner than I would have expected given how open air it is. Breakfast was really really good and plentiful. There was some construction going on in the kitchen area that interfered with the peacefullness of our stay. Not sure how long that will be in process. The walk to the main road is 20 minutes as advertised, but we underestimated how that would effect our plans. It’s not a bad thing to be that far off of the main road, just something to consider when booking the property! You can hire someone to drive you by scooter for 30,000 rupiah one way, but it took us a couple of days to discover that. Pool and grounds were beautiful. Felt very safe.
Very unique place. True Bali experience. Distance to main road is far but makes it more adventurous. Be sure to rent scooters and be prepared for this as it makes it really fun. Also no air conditioning but nice breeze at night and fans if you are ok with that. Hosts were super nice and responsive. House was so adorable and truly unique experience. Ubud is lovely.
Very tranquil setting however quite a trek to get to main street with not many facilities on way. And no where to get out cash if you dont have any!
Perfect location for quiet, walks, rice paddy views. Be prepared for rain.
우붓시내에서 오토바이를 타고 들어가는데 생각보다 너무 먼거리였어요. 그래서 약간 고립된 듯한 느낌이었습니다. 하지만 직원들은 매우 친절했고, 아침식사도 맛있었어요. 위치적인 점만 빼면 정말 멋진 곳이었습니다. 자연친화적인 인테리어도 너무 좋았고 힐링할 수 있는 곳이었어요.
The villa is very quiet, nice and charming. All the staff is nice and will answer all questions.
Its a Beautiful house in a fabulous place
Excellent host. Unique location and design. Although it's tricky to access without a motorbike, they do a great job of facilitating everything. Was a unique and memorable experience for our young children. They loved the ducks, rabbits and garden along with all the nooks and crannies of the home.
First and foremost, Kristine was a fantastic host. She was super responsive and very flexible and helpful. She made the stay really easy to organise. She also helped with trips too and from the airport. The staff matched Kristine's help. They were lovely and couldn't do enough to help. Wayan, who made breakfast every morning, had great English and made the most yummy pancakes. She helped us with scooters and other transport needs whilst we were there. Ketut was also a gem. so helpful and caring. Eddie also. The house was charming. Beautiful decor. Beds were comfy. water pressure etc was great. As with most places in the middle of rice paddy fields in Bali, things smelt a little musty, but I didn't mind. Some of the group did. I loved how the place was in the middle of rice paddies out of town. It is however, quite a walk. Don't stay here unless you are willing to walk 20 minutes to get to the main road, or are happy to brave it on a scooter. Again, it's perfect for me and I loved it - but it was a bit edgy in the middle of a rainy season storm! The place hosted 6 of us with ease. The main house didn't have complete privacy between the rooms, again fine if your a family, not so much if you are 2 couples! The Joglo Suite and the Main Suite did have privacy between them, and I fell in love with the Main Suite and didn't really ever want to leave. The views, the breeze, the decor. Just divine. All in all, a magical stay. Thanks Kristine and your staff for helping to make my birthday a memorable one x
The Treehouse Joglo is a beautiful place to stay, and suited our group of 2 adults and 2 teenage children well. The rice fields butt right up to walls of the joglo and the gentle cycles of the fields is very much part of the experience of staying here. The 20 minute walk from Ubud makes it far enough out to be quiet but close enough to access the town when you need to. A range of cafes a short walk away mean you can be quite self-sufficient if the crowds of Ubud are getting oppressive. Hiring a motorbike is a good option as there is no car access. The staff are great and go out of their way to help out. (Be aware that the joglo is one of a pair right next to each other with shared kitchen and pool/garden so the there may be 3 separate groups staying in the 2 buildings here at any one time.) Overall, highly recommended.
We had a beautiful stay in the rice joglo. Absolutely stunning surroundings and property! Walkable to lots of cafes & to the centre of Ubud, whilst also being remote and private. Our kids loved the animals. Gorgeous place!
Very friendly staff that host you, helpful when needed but give you space to enjoy the beautiful lodging and land. Not having air conditioning was expected to be difficult, but the airflow and fans were adequate to stay comfortable for sleep. An amazing experience.
le Rice Joglo est un endroit paisible, préservé, dépaysant. Quel émerveillement à notre arrivée de decouvrir ce havre de paix, cette végétation luxuriante, cette maison incroyable par son décor. Les petits déjeuner sont vraiment délicieux et généreux, Sonu est un hôtel parfait. C'était un privilège de loger dans cet endroit.❤️

Staying at The Rice Joglo was a highlight of our 3-week trip to Indonesia! It is charming, relaxing and adventurous at the same time. I can see why other reviewers claim to come back again and again. We are already dreaming of returning. Highly, highly recommend!
The tree house was beautiful. Rooms are comfortable, clean and beautifly decorated. The pet farm is a wonderful touch, specially with the kids. Feeding the goats, the chickens and the guinea pigs, so cute. Breakfast was really good, with a great variety of fruits, pancakes, eggs and of course delicious Balinese coffee. The pool is not too deep which makes it easier with kids or when you just want to relax. The best was really the staff, always nice and welcomy, and always making time to pay attention to that kids and answer all their questions.
A beautiful jungle villa in a picturesque location. Note that the Treehouse is slightly out of town (not accessible by car, only motorbike) but this means it is serene and peaceful. The gardens in the property are lovely, and there is a great pool.
Awesome location if you are looking for a quiet retreat in Ubud, walkable to cool restaurants and shops but far enough to relax.
I would come back to this place. The view and the home are beautiful. The food is some of the best we’ve had in Bali. Any excursions were arranged with care and without a huge increase in price compared with booking ourselves. I wish I had more days at this beautiful place. The fire flies at night, the gorgeous views, and the friendly feelings all made the stay more than worth it and worth repeating.
Great little Ubud oasis nestled into the rice fields. Such good fun on the scooters getting up the path. The girls loved it! Sonu the manager is great value and is also clearly invested in the aesthetic and customer service. Lovely and large inclusive breakfasts. Good spot for food later too.
Very unique place & delicious food. Peaceful surrounding and super friendly person in charge. Wonderful and easy walk to the center. Our best stay in Bali and we stayed at 5 places mostly 5* resorts. Thank you!
We loved everything about our stay at the Rice Joglo ~ from the moment we got there it was like time became of no importance. We had fun, relaxed, felt at home and the food was amazing! We came as a joined family of 3 adults and 3 kids aged 7, 8 and 10 - the adults found lots of places in and around the property to relax and the kids enjoyed the pool and all the animals. We all loved walking around the area and also the scooter rides up to the Joglo. The entire property is beautiful ~ you can tell a lot of energy and creativity has gone into making this property unique, comfortable and special for all the guests. Sonu was always present to host all our needs, helping us arrange transport and activities. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the community in and around the Rice Joglo ~ we can’t wait to come back!
We had a great stay and really enjoyed the accommodation and everything else. Loved the design choices. Very friendly and helpful. Food was especially good. What I loved most was the location.
Great place to stay!
We loved the stay, which 10 minutes away from the traffic chaos at Ubud in a very peaceful environment which can only be reached by foot or scooter (the house will organize the pick-up). Sonu, the manager, was extremely friendly and helpful. He organized 3 rented scooters for us directly at the house which allowed us to go and come back when we liked. The environment is beautiful - totally fell in love.
We stayed in the treehouse and you really see the craftsmanship and the planning of the entire property. Ridiculously beautiful and scenic. Our toddler absolutely loved exploring all the different places to lay and play and animals to explore across the whole property and we equally enjoyed the assortment of day beds throughout that always had a perfect view. The temperature at the rice joglo is always perfect inside and we were comfortable with the fans. Waking up to stunning sunrises over the rice patties and the fireflies at night. They’ve put so much thought into making this an amazing place. Highlights are too many to list but the homemade peanut butter was a favourite of all the guests staying and we all shared it across our tables gleefully. Bathing in the open bathroom was wonderful and the pool is perfect. The walk to the Joglo is lovely and not long at all and a welcome calm after being down in main Ubud. We intend to return for longer visits many more times to come.

The Rice Joglo is everything and more in so many ways. From the friendly check-in as soon as we alighted from the cab and every day our experience was a mix of thrill and luxury simultaneously. The history of the place is amazing and so is the dedication and commitment of the host. Sonu was a delightful friend, local guide, life coach all rolled into one. The day started with a scrumptious breakfast- and there was so much to do in the area that we didn’t want to leave. We lived in the tree house which was the perfect fit for our family. The kids had a lot of fun exploring the different rooms on each level. The open air bathroom was nestled beautifully in nature - with the rare blend of comfort, safety and yet the unknown wasn’t fearful, it was caring. Thank you Sonu and your team for giving us the experience of a lifetime
The Rice Joglo is a special place. The people, location and physical structures are all wonderful. We stayed in the Treehouse. I loved it. there is only one bathroom and it's on the first floor, so you have to go down some not super easy in the nighttime steps. If you have any issues with steps, the Treehouse is not for you. The bathroom is amazing. All open to the outside with a lovely tub and separate shower. The food was great. The team is super helpful.
The Rice Joglo is outstanding and honestly one of the most memorable places we have ever stayed. If you want to experience unbelievable service and a breathtaking environment then this is for you. This is the only way to experience Ubud. Sonu and staff are super friendly and helpful. The food cooked on site is also incredible. We stayed here with our 3 children and we’ll definitely be back.
My group of 5 22 year olds absolutely fell in love with the Rice Joglo. It is a beautiful place in the middle of the rice fields that offers a very local, traditional feel of Ubud. Although it is out of the way of the main road with shopping, restaurants, and bars, we motorbiked only 5-10 minutes everywhere out to the main area and it wasn’t a problem at all, we enjoyed it a lot! The staff was very accommodating, they helped us check in and out (even at 5 am in the dark we were scootered down and scheduled a driver to the airport). The home was out of this world, like no where I’ve ever stayed before, a beautifully decorated farm that was magical, just like the pictures. Incredible breakfast (included with your stay), yummy lunch and dinner items and cocktails! We also had incredible massages and wish we had time for the cooking class offered at the property. Can’t wait to come back here!!

Si vous aimez les hébergements anciens en pleine nature au milieu des rizières et loin de l agitation d Ubud, c est l endroit parfait ! La nourriture est fraîche et cuisinée à partir des produits de la ferme en majorité . L hôte est serviable et organise ce que vous lui demandez . C est un logement traditionnel javanais tout en bois et magnifique. Il faut bien sur s attendre à ne pas avoir de Clim et les murs en bois qui séparent les chambres ne vont pas jusqu’au plafond . Pour rejoindre ubud par la rizière, 2 options 20 à pieds ou commander une moto taxi .
Peaceful corner of paradise away from the busy streets of Ubud. It was such a marvellous place that we decided to get merried in here. Thank you Kristine, Sonu and all the staff! we will bring home so many good memories out of this experience!

Kristine what an incredible host everything was absolutely perfect. The food was amazing made fresh and with so ouch love. The treehouse was insane better than the pictures. Location was perfect for us a 20 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of ubud. I cannot rate our stay enough thank you for making the first few days of our Bali adventure a magical experience 🌈
Vi elsket alt ved oppholdet vårt på The Rice Joglo! Etter å ha reist rundt på et stadig mer trafikkert og travelt Bali, føltes det som et friskt pust å sjekke inn hos Sonu og resten av gjengen. Hele stedet føles så autentisk og sjarmerende. Rismarkene omringer eiendommen, og det er en hel egen ro så langt unna travle Ubud. Sonu og de andre som jobber der lot 3 åringen vår få henge med på de daglige gjøremålene, noe han elsket. De var så tålmodige og snille med han. Sonu laget til og med frokost til oss hver morgen før restauranten egentlig åpnet, fordi vi var tidlig oppe med barna. Fantastiske mennesker og et fantastisk sted. Takk Sonu og resten av gjengen for et uforglemmelig opphold på The Rice Joglo. Vi skulle gjerne vært lenger, og 3 åringen er helt klar på at det var favoritt plassen hans på Bali.
Très bel endroit! Très agréable loin de l’agitation de la ville et pour autant facilement accessible (pieds ou scooter) Hôte très réactif dans les échanges mais absent du site. Le personnel était agréable mais n’a pas partagé de conseils ou recommandations. Petits déjeuners très sympas. C’est un très bel endroit. Le driver recommandé était tres chouette.
The Rice Joglo was amazing! It was more beautiful and peaceful than any of the photos can portray. And Sonu was one of the kindest and warmest hosts we’ve had. The location was wonderful, peacefully surrounded by rice fields and beautiful nature with incredible sunsets. Our family of 7 (parents and 5 kids) had more than enough room in the Villa and loved the outdoor showers! Breakfast was delicious (our kids are still raving about the pancakes and fresh fruit juice), and the other meals we had were also delicious. It was easy to walk into to town and experience all Ubud has to offer. Sonu helped arrange our transport from the airport and back to the airport at the end of our 5-day stay, and helped arrange an amazing day-long biking trip through the countryside. This was an incredibly beautiful experience for our family and we highly recommend the Rice Joglo without hesitation and will definitely return!

Very unique stay, beautiful and serene. As the joglo is only accessible by scooter, it's an unforgettable experience for us as family. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had slight problems with hot water and internet connection but Kristine was quick to respond. Overall it was an unforgettable place to stay and would recommend to anyone who would like to experience the traditional bali culture.
What a gorgeous little gem in the middle of the Ubud rice fields! Yes, obviously off the beaten track, but that is what you came here for. Little frogs, a field full of glow fireflies, chicken, lizards, the pink hen, turtles, hedgehogs… my kids absolutely loved it here! Super nice staff! Pretty pool which was a relief in humid Ubud. We stayed in the 3-bedroom-villa which was absolutely beautiful. The open bathroom was just soo nice. Food excellent, and great staff, all incredibly welcoming and helpful. Also the bicycle ride went smoothly with my kids who thought this was a great adventure. Thank you so much for everything, we’ll be back!
It is a wonderland So beautiful and the staff are incredible, they help you with whatever you need. We didn’t want to leave. Every detail of the joglo is like artwork, it’s even more beautiful than the photos. The breakfast is amazing, so fresh and delicious. It is only accessible by scooter but eh staff make it so easy we hired scooters and once you are out of the laneway you are super close to Ubud centre.
What a beautiful place to stay. it is the highlight of our stay in Bali. The rice jogle is full of nature with the equipments suit the nowday life. Sodu and all the team members are helpful and super friendly. It is the best memory of our Bali trip.
Very beautiful place! i would like to stay more) All good, but you need to understand: NO HAVE CAR ACCESS. we left our car far from villa and stuff helped in bike. ONLY ONE TOILET. in first floor. we slept in 3th and it was uncomfortable to go upstairs. NO PRIVACY. this place like small hotel with cafe. We hear our neighbors all night.
The most beautiful place to stay in ubud with the most beautiful staff. We had a wonderful stay here. Delicious breakfasts. Delicious masala chai. We loved it here so much we left and came back for another 2 days!

This is really a unique and charming place The good - the house is about 20 minutes walk along a small path that is only accessible by foot or by bike, so it's secluded and very quiet. - the house is really charming, hundreds of years old but in great condition - the shower and bath are open to the forest and stunning. - the small cafe serves a small menu of very tasty meals, so you really don't need to move from the house if you simply want to rest and relax things to consider - the three bedrooms are all connected, both smaller bedrooms pass thru the main bedroom to go anywhere so privacy between rooms is limited - the bedrooms are at the top of a narrow, steep set of stairs. if you need the bathroom at night, it's not a snoozy stroll having said all that we loved it and can't wait to go back

This sanctuary is accessible only via scooter and once you’re there, you don’t really need to leave the area. Everything you need from restaurants, yoga, to exploring can be accessed from this quaint town. The property itself is quite enchanting and offers all the special pieces you need to keep you comfortable. The staff is amazing and the rooms are beautiful. What a special retreat! Don’t miss this stop on your trip!

The joglo is super fun and confortable with an amazing view on the rice fields. Ubud's centre is at about 15-20 minutes on foot on a gorgeous trail, but if you prefer not to walk, there are plenty of taxi scooters in the area, and the joglo's staff may also help you out on the way down. A hearty and delicious breakfast is included in the booking, but you can also order really tasty lunch and dinner at the joglo for a price until ~7:30pm. Many thanks again to Kristine and the staff! We enjoyed our stay a lot!
What a lovely place! Truly a fairytale oasis in the middle of ride paddies. Yes, it's a bit of a walk if you don't have a motorcycle, but it's one of the most beautiful walks you'll ever have and it's nice to have that level of privacy, too. The staff is attentive and enjoyable, the accommodations are lovely (you may just decide to stay in and forget about going out to town), and the food is very good. No complaints whatsoever.
Loved the place. Heaps of character, great vista, service (including in-house spa treatment) and food were impeccable. The pool is beautiful but quite deep and not the most kid freindly - bring floaties.
Very lovely stay! Only thing there was (probably a rat) eating through our bags to get to our chips. Which was quite uncomfortable. But apart from this we had a lovely stay. Would definitely recommend. The perfect location. In the beautiful nature and a 15min walk to the busy areas of Ubud. Also perfect owners and very very helpful! Very kind people. This is the best Airbnb there can possibly be. Sonu was a delight and so very accommodating to our group. The kitchen staff was also incredibly talented. This place is like a Pinterest board come to life.
One of the most amazing places we've ever stayed. Although it's a bit of a trek to get out to it, once you're there you don't want to leave! Incredible, idyllic setting, with a gorgeous open air bathroom that looks out at the jungle. The host made us feel completely at home and were extremely helpful with everything from dietary restrictions, to transport into town, to keeping our early bird 9 year old happy in the mornings! We miss it already.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay in The Treehouse. Kristine was great with communication before we arrived and once there, we found Sonu and his team very warm and accommodating. We felt nothing at all was too much trouble. This place is the place to stay if you like quirky, stylish, individual AirBnBs and I can highly recommend. A few things to note - it’s peaceful position in the paddies is perfect but may be a bit difficult if you have very young children as it’s a 20 minute walk through the fields - fine during the daytime but not great in the night so you need to forward plan a bit. Also, it’s very rustic, so you may encounter the odd gecko while you’re in the bath!! We ended up staying an extra night because we enjoyed the place so much. Thank you so much for making our Ubud experience so special.
The perfect place to stay in Ubud. The location is beautiful and you can’t get a better shower anywhere else! The manager Sonu and the other staff are so instrumental in making sure you get the most out of your trip. I’d only recommend hiring a scooter to avoid doing the 20 min walk too much (especially if you do the volcano hike).

We stayed 5 nights at Rice Joglo Treehouse and every minute was heaven. Sonu greeted us at our meeting spot and we rode scooters back to the Joglo Driving up the small road to our Joglo past all the Rice fields was the most beautiful sight. Our Joglo is the largest on the property and was perfect for our family of 5. It is situated a decent walk into the main streets of Ubud (20 mins) or up to the Pyramids ofChi in the other direction ( again about a20-25 minute walk) You are really out of the hustle and bustle of the Main Street which we loved. Surrounded by rice fields and the sound of farm life and birds. Simply incredible. The pool is perfect to cool off in and younger kids love the animals on the property The complementary breakfast served every morning was delicious and generous and set us up for the day of exploring ahead. What a magical slice of paradise - the treehouse, outdoor bathroom, pool and surrounds are even more stunning in real life than the photos depict! Our hosts Sonu and Wayan were most welcoming. We stayed with 3 young kids who adored the house, animals and pool. The house is a bit of a hike from the main part of town (especially for little legs), but we much preferred staying somewhere a bit quieter. Our 5 year olds loved their attic bedroom - younger kids may find the stairs a little tricky. We were initially worried about there being no air-conditioning but were very comfortable with the fans. The only downside I can think of was that we had to leave!
Absolutely LOVED the stay at the Joglo! Out hosts were amazing. The location is really cool. Quiet, unique and fun. There are some gorgeous places along the little trail back to the main roads worth exploring. The duck we ordered was divine and I'm not usually a meat eater! 100% will stay again. Miss the place already! x

We enjoyed our recent stay in the Rice Joglo! It was a delighful compound in addition to the well decorated and clean rooms. My kids enjoyed the garden and the animals as well as the pool. The views are unparalleled. I am squeamish about bugs and critters and I was just fine here even though it's in the middle of the rice paddys and forest. The walk in is quite a haul but it's paved and dotted with cute shops and juice bars and warungs not to mention the views. The only note is that you have to share the small path with scooters. I note this because we have many small children, a group of adults would be less concerned. (but that is not unlike most of Bali anyway) Sonu and Kristine took great care of us. The breakfasts were delicious. We consider our stay here a highlight of our two weeks in Bali. Thank you!
The Rice Joglo was an amazing experience for our family with three small kids. We had a super relaxing stay just next to the beautiful rice fields. And Sonu was the best host you can ask for. Very easy to communicate with and always ready to help us out in any way. We would like to come again another time

Beautiful traditional joglo in the middle of the rice fields. Teaming with life, fireflies at night. Wayan looked after us amazingly, even when we had some extra needs with our 3 year old twins. The breakfast was delicious too. You do need be able to walk 20mins in heat or be happy to get a scooter lift to access the joglo.
Couldn’t have loved this accomodation more. The staff were accommodating, the rooms were gorgeous and the breakfast was to die forrrrr! Can’t wait to come back!

Wayan & Kristine! Thank you so very much. We absolutely loved our stay in the tree house, it was the most amazing start to our first trip to Bali. We saw bats and fireflies over the rice paddies at night, squirrels and ducks and chickens and dogs and the little hedgehog during the day was fabulous! And a duckling and the cat were an absolute highlight for the kids. The treehouse itself was completely gorgeous with so many places to sit and relax. And so aesthetically pleasing 🙌🙌 The rice fields were so much cooler at night than we expected as we were afraid of no aircon but honestly it’s better than our current villa in ubud central that DOES have aircon! The breakfasts were generous and wonderful! The scooter ride at the very start was a fabulous adventure as we probably wouldn’t have tried a scooter ride during our stay (being the overly cautious family with kids!) Thank you again, I could go on and on, thank you so much. For others considering the treehouse - do it! It’s fabulous! It really is like staying in a tree house, it probably wouldn’t be great for kids under 5? But we were there with basically 3 teens, 12, 13 & 15 .... they coped even though the wifi wasn’t absolutely fabulous, and we found the food places great even if you didn’t want to walk too far.

The most amazing place I’ve ever stayed at. Sono the manager was amazing he gave us recommendations of where to eat and go and took us to town when we were in a rush and couldn’t walk. It was lovely staying with the farm animals and the most prettiest cat I’ve seen. He also arrange yoga on the roof at sunset. The Accomodation was so pretty and decorated with beautiful Balinese furniture. Me and my friends loved staying at rice julglow and taking pics of the rice paddy fields in front of us. 10/10
Our stay at the Rice Joglo was incredible. We have loved every minute spent there. The house is so unusual, unlike any other I've ever seen. Every detail was so unique, the house is bursting with taste and Balinese tradition. The bathroom that opens up into the Rice field on one side and jungle on the other was something that took getting used to, but also something that we miss the most. Sonu was an exceptional host, always ready to entertain us or help, and always there. Super sweet and professional, we miss him as much as we miss the house. It has three massive and super comfortable beds, but please note the house is a tree house and has no traditional doors! For us this was a plus point, as we felt like on an excursion again. Thank you for having us, we cannot wait to come back!
I you like an unique experience, this place is for you. the villa is in the middle in a rice field. only access by walk or motorbike (if you rent it). 20minutes from the main street. peaceful place and it was a wonderful experience. if you have children who live animals and nature let's go and enjoy.
This is a fairytale house on a fairytale locations. The hosts did everything possible to make our stay perfect. Can only recommend it. Our kids loved the garden and everything around it.
Words cannot describe the magical place the Rice Joglo is. From the exciting motor bike ride in our first day to our last breakfast cooked by Risa , we will never forget it ! My 4 children and 1 of their friends came to the joglo to explore the Ubud region and all it has to offer. We loved the magical spirit of the enchanting tree house . When we were there we were unbothered by not having a/c and the fans were plenty. I was pleasantly surprised since at home in the USA I sleep with the air on 65f . We loved Risa’s breakfast so much , we had her Cook us a private dinner. It was phenomenal and I highly recommend! We also did yoga on the roof and on the let morning the kids got in room massages! Everyone was so accommodating . We especially want to thank Risa and wayan for their hospitality. The walk in and out is about 20 minutes but we were able to find one of the guys to give us a ride out in the mornings. We tipped them and they were very thankful. If you go I would also suggest giving a tip to Risa and wayan. Although they do not expect this , they work hard and really deserve a little extra something ! If you go here you will not regret it ! We stayed 3 nights and saw all the sights . I think 3-4 is a good time. I do wish we stayed one more night but we were pressed for time ! Enjoy !!
The Rice Jogolo is a special place to stay. Not only is the location stunning, the accommodation unique and very comfortable, the staff are warm, welcoming and nothing seems too much bother. It was lovely to get away from the hustle of Central Ubud and we enjoyed eating at the small restaurants on the path to the Jogolo. We would love to return.
Imagine yourself in a treehouse in the middle of a rice paddy, filled with the gentle sound of flowing water, ducks quacking, roosters in the morning and frogs in the evening. This is the soundtrack to the Rice Joglo. There is attention to detail to make your surroundings pretty in every corner of the wooden home (joglo=wood). Breakfast is more than plentiful each morning and hospitality is at the forefront. Getting to the joglo you can expect to be dropped off by a gate and then picked up by scooter to ride one mile up to the villa. They will take your bags on a separate scooter trip and bring them directly to your room. Leaving, you can expect the same journey in reverse. We left our laundry with the manager and they had it cleaned and folded, and back to us the following day. Bring a flashlight if you stay out after dark and walk back up to the joglo. There are mosquito nets over each bed, and these are necessary as there are no screened windows. There is also no air-conditioning, but it wasn’t an issue. The nights were moderate! Enjoy!

What a beautiful place to relax, beyond what we expected. Absolutely truly Balinese vacation style. The staff is friendly. The rooms are beautiful and unique, especially the open air bath absolutely awesome. Couldn't get any better than this! Great place that is located between rice fields. Very friendly manager and team members. All the houses are made by the manager. Our best stay in Bali so far. Stepping stones, ducks, and interesting decorations. We just love these kind of places! It's a pleasure to discover all the focus points and the decorations of the garden. All the houses are made by the manager Sonu. Thank you for being such gracious hosts. We enjoyed everything, from dinner to breakfast and everything in between!
The villa of Kristine is wonderfull. We stayed with 7 persons in the great villa, which was just fine! The location is marvelous in the middle of the ricefields, with lots of places to eat on the road. The villa itself is a unique villa with lots of authentic details and wonderfull decorated. The bathroom is a great place to shower or take a bath, in the middle of nature! Breakfast was also great! Really loved this place, we would definetly come back!
The Joglo is exactly what we were looking for when we looked for a place in Ubud. It fits perfectly with what we want in a memorable location to stay. The pictures are accurate. The thing with didn't know is that we'd be offered breakfast every morning - platefuls or fruit, homemade sourdough bread, eggs, crepes and Bali coffee - all put together by a wonderful staff. A few things to know - it's a 20 minute walk from the main road through Ubud. It's down a paved footpath. Your bags will be taken in by motorbike and you can walk or ride. There are excellent restaurants, yoga studios, shops and villas along the way. It's through the rice paddies as well, so it's a very scenic walk. It's also totally flat, and so it's easily manageable for young kids. The distance from the main road means that there are no sounds other than songbirds, frogs, geckos and cicadas. This is a distinct advantage from the more modern villas and hotels that crowd the main road. We had a wonderful stay, and everyone agreed that we would have been better off staying there for our entire week in Bali, rather than splitting off for Sanur later in the week. While the beaches are fine, they aren't different from Mexico or Costa Rica (there's a Hard Rock Cafe, a Fairmont, Four Seasons, etc). The beach scene is rather generic. We would have been better off day tripping there from the Joglo.
This place is absolutely beautiful and so unique! Highly recommend! The only difficulty is getting to and from the house with luggage as it is quite far from the main road and cannot be accessed by car.
The Rice Joglo offers a truly unique lodging experience near Ubud Central. The description of the location is not an exaggeration - the house is located a good 20 minute walk off the main road. Be prepared to walk. The path to the Joglo, however, is dotted with little shops, restaurants, cafes, and other homestays. There is plenty to do nearby if you want to take a day to just enjoy the house and the serene sights and sounds of the rice fields. Kristine and her staff were wonderful during our stay - very helpful, warm, and caring. The house and grounds were incredibly clean and well-maintained. I would book this house again in the future.
The place was great! So beautiful and tranquil wish our stay would have been longer!! It was a bit difficult to get around because of how far into the rice fields it was, versus staying more in central ubud but being surrounded by nature was totally worth it. The sound of the jungle and running water behind the house was so amazing! We will definitely be back!
The Rice Joglo is a wonderful place to stay with young kids. Our daughters loved every second of our 3 days. The animals and gardens were a highlight for them and they took advantage of the space and pool to play in. My husband and I loved being able to allow our kids an immersive farm stay like holiday. The walk into town is easy and full of interesting places to stop. The accomodation is beautifully designed and comfortable. My only issue was with the thin walls between accomodation. Although we were aware of this from previous reviews. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a little adventure and down to earth Ubud experience. A great relaxing accomodation with very kind staff
The Rice Joglo is a unique, pleasant stay. The tree house was really fun and clean. Everyone working at The Rice Joglo was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. As Americans, we were there over Thanksgiving. We had a smoked duck dinner with sides suggested by the staff. It was excellent. The only downfall was we thought the tree house was a stand alone structure closely situation next to other structures. Our treehouse shared a wall made of very thin wood planks with other Joglos. We could hear every conversation and the family had a small baby which would cry throughout the night. The shared wall was surprising to us, but not a deal breaker. Thank you so much for the excellent experience!

Great experience living in a treehouse with my family. The manager Kitty is a very nice guy and friendly. First day we arrived late due to late arrival of the flight and heavy traffic but he help us to arrange our dinner very thanks! Although the walking distance from main road to the house is quiet long but it’s was good for my family’s health. Thanks.
Our expectations were high as photos were so gorgeous and we were not disappointed at all. The complex is stunning. We loved the rice jogolos - we booked all 5 for a special birthday. hospitality from Sonu and team was fabulous, views, lovely, pool and garden gorgeous, food yummy. 15 minute walk from hustle and bustle of Ubud was perfect. Sonu collected us upon check in and dropped us back when we left. Lots bikes on track who give you a lift for a couple of dollars. no complaints from us.

The Rice Joglo is a very special place with its unique space and caring hospitality. My husband and I stayed there for one week with our three children(12,9,5). We had a very relaxing time there and we will always remember the time when we were at the Rice Joglo and Sonu and Wayan, who took care of us amazingly.
Cannot praise this property and experience highly enough. Located in the middle of the rice fields, away from the noisy location of busy Ubud. A surreal feeling of being surrounded by this area of outstanding natural beauty. The standard of the accommodation, staff and location is exceptional. Has to be the best Airbnb we have stayed in. Yes you are away from the town and it’s a 15 minute walk... but what a walk & experience. There are some lovely restaurants nearby, Cafe Sari Organic & Pomegranate . The Ubud Yoga Studio is close by too. We all absolutely loved our time here and wish we had longer. Kristine, your properties and staff are an absolute credit to you. Thank you - we will be back.
We LOVED our stay here and it was so much better than expected. The walk or scooter ride from the TreeHouse into Ubud was stunning - so pretty and tranquil. The TreeHouse itself is gorgeous with amazing views over the rice fields. Breakfast was delicious! Loved the menagerie of animals too - kids really enjoyed them. Pool was lovely too.
This place is such a gem, we almost don't want to tell anyone as we want to keep it a secret... If you want an off the beaten road experience but still with all the comfort, this is the place to be. Just be prepared to take yourselves and your luggage on a 5 minute motorbike ride to the property as there is no road - and a 20 minute walk to the road. Stunning place.
This is definitely a one-of-a-kind place that we happily recommend. It is off the beaten path but it was a pleasant 18 minute walk into town through the rice fields. Sometime more or less time depending on how many stops we made to talk to artisans or watch the groups in the rice fields. Several yoga houses along the way plus restaurants before you even reach town. Wayan managed the breakfasts which were simply outstanding. Banana pancakes and omelets made from the duck eggs just gathered were excellent. I recommend the freshly picked lemon grass tea. Any problems and Wayan had them solved quickly. If you want to stay in a very memorable spot away from the hustle bustle of Ubud, but with a pleasant walk into town, this is your place. The animals they have in the cute huts by the eating area are unique, and you might even get the chance to watch Made feed the baby owls. With six of us it was a challenge to get everyone and the luggage by scooter to the house, but their trusty assistant did a great job, and it was actually a treat to ride with him down the narrow path through the rice fields. A unique and fun place to stay. If you are into relaxing, making memories, or both, this is your place.

Our stay was truly incredible aside from it being unclear that we would be sharing the property with other guests in other Joglos. The staff was very kind and welcoming, and the breakfast was very very good, made from food in their garden! I definitely recommend you book this Airbnb if staying in Ubud!!

Kristines place is stunning! We spend a few nights here and we used it as our base when we went to Gili T for 2 nights as well. The treehouse is just stunning, there was 6 of us (all adults) and we had never seen anything like it before, very dreamy. Sharing one bathroom between the 6 of us was tricky at times but you quickly forget when u look out onto the beautiful rice fields and clear sky while rocking on a beautiful wooden balcony swing. Staff were very hands on, arranging pick ups, drop offs, day tours (the bike ride through the mountain is just amazing), breakfast in the morning was so good, freah fruit and pancakes, eggs. The walk from the house to the main road is about 20 mins and can seem alot at first but you get used to it very quickly, also you can hire scooters and bikes to help get around as you will see everyone else doing it. There are some restuarants along the road and they have great sunset veiws, spas, yoga spots and so much more. The main road has great shops and more great food. Its a must see place and Sonu (manager) is so so helpful you will feel like your home from home. couldnt recommend more!
The treehouse is a stunning building and in such a peaceful location on the edge of the rice fields-you really feel close to nature. The space is incredible and in such an idyllic setting you can really relax and unwind. Kristine was really helpful with everything-also sorting out transport for a late arriving guest. A lovely place to retreat and also a good place to explore the busier streets of Ubud from.
The house is located in one of the most beautiful place of Ubud in the middle of the rice fields, outstanding. A bit retired from the center, a motorbike is a must to go there, no access by car. Stylish interior design and outstanding views, it is a family house, with close proximity between the 3 bedrooms. There are fans in every room but not AC. The service for the breakfast is very nice.

I'm traveling consistently for the last 20 years and I've stayed in numerous places from budget to luxury. But this place is like a fairytale. Wooden floors, a bath that's open into the jungle, every furniture has its own character. The house is just 15 minutes walking from thecenter of ubud. But there are some restaurants, bars, shops just outside the house. It's an authentic experience. You will never forget the bike that will take you for the first time to the treehouse. A majestic ride through rice paddies. Don't have any doubt. This is the place you will remember forever.
Beautiful location amongst the rice fields. You get woken up by a chorus of chirping birds, croaking frogs, quaking ducks, and laughing geckos. Great breakfast— ask for the banana pancakes. Very friendly and efficient staff. Location is about 1.5 km off the main road. It is a very scenic walk but make sure you have a flashlight ( or cell phone light) when walking at night.
This is Pipi Longstocking meets Bali. A wonderful, crazy house in the middle of the rice paddies. We loved it! The house is full of amazing details and ultimately relaxing. Also very near to Cafe Pomegranate, a great restaurant with a stunning view. Make sure you rent a motorbike if you want to get to town by yourself, as it is too far too walk and cars cannot get to the house.

Thank you very mach. とても素敵な場所でした！ ツリーハウス周辺は明かりがないため、夜はとても暗いです。しかし朝起きるとライスフィールドが一面に広がっていて、凄かったです。 午後10時頃のチェックインになってしまったのにも関わらず、スタッフの方がカウンターでパパイヤなどを切って、ジュースを作ってくださいました！ プランに含まれている朝食もボリュームたっぷりで、手作りジャムも美味しく、大満足でした。 ちなみにトイレは外にあり、かなり開放的です笑
We had four incredible nights at The Rice Joglo, Ubud. It is a truly magical place to stay! We arrived to the meeting point and were chauffeured by scooter along a narrow path surrounded by rice paddies, quaint restaurants and cafes. The Rice Juglo is the last property along the trail, which provides a 1 hour walking loop path from the Ubud town center. Our hosts, Sonu and Wayan were both very friendly and made our stay extra enjoyable. The property is designed and built from traditional Balinese materials and is definitely a sight to be seen! We slept with the windows open and the sounds of the jungle floating in the breeze. We have visited Ubud twice previously and this is absolutely the best place we have stayed. It's easy to spend a few days in the rice fields and far from the mayhem of Ubud's busy streets. Highly recommend staying here. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable trip.

Place was incredible. We all really loved it. Changed our plans when we got there...instead of using it as a base for seeing Ubud we never left the house and surrounding rice fields for the 2 days we were there. Quality restaurant across the path as well. Unforgettable!

We stayed at the Joglo for 8 days recently, and it was fantastic! The weather was on our side, so we get to enjoyed the beautiful view and walks around the rice fields. The Joglo itself is lovely and beautiful. Well decorated in all apartments and houses. Family and children friendly. Romantic for couples. What you see in the pictures, is what you will see when you arrive. Kristine always answer your queries quickly and helpful when needed. The staff are friendly and indeed very very helpful. Sonu runs the place and if you need help, be assured he will be there to help you out. He is funny, helpful and a very competent person. Wayang the cook, deal with breakfast. Delicious! Just ask! Overall we had a great time here!

What a magical place to stay in Ubud! Much better than it looks in photos - it was absolutely perfect. Sonu, the property manager was brilliant and the location of the place was stunning. Am already thinking of when I can come back and stay here - the only regret is that we only booked two nights when all 7 of us agreed we wish could have been there longer. The most beautiful Air B&B I've ever stayed at!

This place is magical! It exceeded all our expectations. The setting is stunning, the house is beautiful. Its quite a long walk to the hustle and bustle of Ubud but thats all part of the adventure, the walk being along the path through the fields which at night are full of dancing fire flies. There are some great little cafes along the route. The host is so welcoming and helpful. Any questions you have, he can answer them. The breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs and pancakes he prepares each morning is delicious. He organised for a local chef to cook for us one night, which was the best meal we had whilst in Bali. This place is amazing. You have to visit.
A true unique treasure! Close enough to Ubud to take advantage of everything in town, but absolute peace in the Rice Fields. It is about 1km walk (or scooter ride) to the main road. We loved the walk and will remember our 2am scooter transfer upon arrival in the rain for years to come - in a good way! The pictures do not do it justice. Attention to detail in design, service, environmentalism in every aspect of the Rice Jolgo. We were a group of 4 friends and stayed in the treehouse. There were 3 large beds and numerous areas to relax. While we were there, there were also 2 families with very young children having the time of their lives. Yoga Ubud and Sari Organic are closer than the main road and I would recommend taking advantage of both. However the food at the Joglo is delicious as well. Morning pancakes, fresh bread, fruit and homemade jam in the morning and we also had smoked duck one evening - so good! We really can't say enough about our stay here. Kristine answered all questions almost immediately and we even extended our stay by a day. You won't be disappointed . . . just go!
This property is truly a gem! After having a bad experience with another listing, we were cautious booking the next one. But then communication with Kristine went perfect and prompt. Although we haven't met Kristine personally, she was at our service at all times. Just getting at the property is an adventure itself. Being picked up by Made with his motorbike and drive between the rice fields. You can walk too, but it's a 1 km walk from the main street. Wayan and Made who welcomed us at the tree house were great and accommodating. Wayan is very sweet and patient since she nannied our our baby and toddler at one time. The eco tree house itself is amazing. Beautiful design amidst the rice paddies. Great view from all rooms. A hang out deck. A comfortable and amazing bathroom out in the open. Breakfast was served at the kitchen area, where you can relax or enjoy the view as well. And then the property itself was great, especially for our children. They keep ducks and bunnies. The swimming pool is nice and clean. Our kids loved it. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay. Regarding lunch or dinner, you just need to plan ahead. Either you eat at some of the nice restaurants at walking distance or you order take out. We had them bring the food a couple of times when it was raining heavily. A new reastaurant just opposite of the treehouse is being built and will be opened soon. So that will be perfect!
This place is even better in person than in pictures. If you're looking for a quiet and scenic place to stay in Ubud, this is it. You'll be surrounded by the natural beauty of the rice fields and you'll be close to the shops, markets and restaurants. The staff were very helpful in all aspects of the stay and even helped us book activities for our time in Ubud. I highly recommend staying here!
We stayed at the Rice Joglo for 4 nights in the tree house with 5 people. The staff and Sonu were so welcoming and helpful and it made it a very pleasant stay. It is a very tranquil place in the midst of the rice fields away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. And if you want to go out, Ubud center is just 20 minutes walk away. Excellent staff and service, a very unique place to stay with a very personal touch. You will be delighted by Sonus stories, his chai and the staffs excellent cooking. We are looking forward to go back to spend more time soon. We highly recommend this place.
Rice Joglo was a fabulous experience. Kristine and her staff were amazing. Quick, responsive communication from the enquiry, through checking and day to day interaction with Wayan and Made. The accommodation is rustic, but superbly modernized, so a really comfortable experience. Rice Joglo's location is excellent - close enough to walk to the freneticism that is Ubud, while the rice field setting makes for true tranquility when one needs it. Best of both worlds! Thanks for all - we loved it.
Kristine was really helpful with organising and replyed always fast. The property manager Sono picked us up from the main road with mopeds to bring us to the joglo. So we didn't have to walk all the way. We were 8 people of friends. This was a really cool experience: driving through the rice fields. He was also very friendly, open and talkative and gave us every information we needed. He also organised drivers, which where really nice too. The view and the joglo itself is amazing. It was my second stay in ubud and it's so much worth it to stay in the rice fields then direct in the city. It's calm and beautiful. The walk to the city is at the same time a nice way through the rice fields. The house and the view are much better than you will get on the pictures. Breakfast is delicious and the pool is nice. The house has a very nice style. Fits perfectly in the surrounding. I would highly recommend this place.
We had a fantastic time @ Rice Jogolo with our toddler. Sonu, Made, Kristine and Watu made a our stay very special. They went out of their way to look after us, make sure we had everything we needed. Sonu Organised everything for us and made my Son feel very welcome. Great spot for kids with all the animals, pool and freedom to run around. Sonu even built a staircase for us to help with safety. If you have very young children the stairs are windy and steep, but we found them ok but we were prepared. The bathroom has steep drop into ravine but we just made sure bathroom door was locked. Small pools of water around to be mindful of but again it didn't impact our stay, in fact I loved pottering around with my Son, feeding the fish, the baby ducks. At night the fireflies come out and it's very special indeed. Eating the home cooked local duck watching sunset over the rice fields with a cold beer & firefly watching, it's magical. There are lots of spots to chill and read in the property, or on one of the terraces or elsewhere on the property grounds. It's a truly magical place & if you want to get away, chill out, think, this is the place. The property is beautifully decorated & has the right amount of furniture for your stay. The architecture of the building & its story is fascinating. Getting to the property is a good 20 min walk from main road but we just rented scooters and added to the adventure of our holiday & at night when we wanted to go out we just booked taxi scooters which were perfect. We used the in house massage ladies who were very good and recommend. We also used the babysitter service which I would also recommend. Breakfast was fresh and yummy, the fresh duck eggs where amazing! We had a fabulous time & its a special spot in Ubud. Even after we left the service was amazing, as we left something behind & they Organised for it to get back to us , going out of their way to make sure we got it. Thankyou & we look forward to going back
What an amazing place! Travelling with 2 young children (4 and 6) i was a little concerned that it would be too remote. In fact it was perfect. The house is amazing, the staff fantastic. The pool was way better than the photos show and perfect for the kids and for cooling off. It's a comfortable walk into Ubud and so many excellent places to eat within a few minutes walk. Thanks to Kristine for help and support throughout, thanks to Sonu and everyone else who made this a special break in Bali.
W had a great experience at the Treehouse Jogolo: wonderful location (in the middle of the paddy fields), ancient house with a lot of charm. Very good breakfast and very responsive host. I would love to go back!
This place has real charm and character. The staff are all wonderful, so helpful and interesting. It was perfect for our family of five adults but you do need to be fit and mobile to make the most of the beautiful location. Do ask the staff for tips and advice as they are happy to organise activities such as massage and cookery, which all added to the enjoyment of our holiday.
The Rice Joglo is just incredible beautiful, we spent 4 nights there and we wish we were able to stay longer. Kristine is really nice and the organization is perfect. I could continue with saying how perfect this place is (just 10 minutes from the rush of downtown) it's just so special! And, of course, Sonu is the most lovable person i got to know in a long time, he takes care of everything!!
Killer spot. Such a beautiful location and a unique house. The staff is amazing and is very close to the best part of ubud. In order to enjoy this place you can only get there via scooter/foot, but it is so worth it. Quiet but yet still close the liveliness of ubud.

my 2nd stay in this amazing and unique location. ive stayed at over 50 different places in bali. the joglo is by far the most incredible. the location, staff, hospitality and generosity of spirit make this an unforgetable experience
